My Special Spot

There's a special spot in my life that's not easy to be described in simple words. I wander off to this spot everyday for great many reasons: To engrave my thoughts in the solid walls of that spot so that my deepest emotions have a voice and remain etched there to remind me of how I change over time. To talk to many others who are sitting at my spot waiting for me, and to know that I'm being heard and appreciated for who I am. To share knowledge among some very voracious and smart acquaintances that feed me with their deepest intellect that I can't even buy in real life. To reach out to someone who may be waiting at my spot at a time of need and for some comfort from me. To bring out the best of creativity and pent-up emotions for which this spot becomes an open door. To believe in humanity when all hope is lost. To realise that I don't have to pack my bags and board a plane to experience true friendship. To vent out my anger, frustrations and dilemmas of daily life in a healthy manner. To be able to communicate in a way that makes me a better-informed citizen of the world who learns to appreciate great many cultures and personalities. To realise that information is the key to knowledge and that knowledge is the power in all of us. To build a network of special spots connecting from my spot that has now become the lobby of sheer knowledge and growth in my life. This spot may mean nothing to you but it's the whole world to me because it contains my most precious thoughts and it is the only pathway to many other special spots around the globe. And that spot is BlogSpot and it's my virtual home. You can't put me out of my home...you can't take away my keys and lock it for good...you can't steal my right to live in my own home...you can't destroy my right to freedom, knowledge and growth. Let me in, I want my home and my rights back. And this time it's you who's breaking the law.

My dear fellow-Indian bloggers, you are free to continue this Spot-post in your blogs with adding more great 'reasons' for wanting back that special spot in your life. Let's do it until we are heard and our own right to knowledge is granted back to us. Ishi you may use this post for anything that requires it to get back your right. Good luck folks!

They look it in a different perspective, they hv done it in the past they r doing it again what they r best at, MORAL POLICING.

SamY said...

I dun c a point in brooding before the goverment gives an explanation ... if the government had gud reason to do so then fine ;)

India is one of the prime e.g's of democracy ... things will come to normalcy soon :) ... this is just like a curfue

I hope the govt has good advisors coz we'r still able to access through other means

~~Samy

**if the government had gud reason to do so then fine

D u belive they have good reasons to do that? I mean block all bloggers of few losers? Samy as a democracy the ppl should have a say too and govt is not the soul decision-maker. I find this truly ineffective a method to fight terrorism or whatever they intend to do by it. And that's what we should look into more...whether it's an effective means.

~~Southpaw

G'day South!

**they hv done it in the past they r doing it again what they r best at, MORAL POLICING.

hehe but it wont be effective. ppl r already in blogs using pkblogs :):)

Keshi..You could not have said it any better and this is exactly how I feel about blogging. It is my special spot and I would be very unhappy if someone just came and took it away.like you said knowledge is power. I hope all the Indian Bloggers fight to keep their spot.I am with them.

~~Samy

chill Samy dear, some day u will be first :)

~~Starry_Nights

yep Starry and this post was for some DUMB-ASS question one of those officials asked...they had asked:

Officials defended the decision saying, "We would like those people to come forward who access these (the 12) radical websites and please explain to us what are they missing from their lives in the absence of these sites."

This is my answer to them. They don't even know what blogging is and they go and ban it?? It's apalling!

~~Ghost_Particle

**we will stand united against anything that stops our freedom, goes againts the morality of the free world.

Spot on! No one can steal our freedom just like that.

Keshi.

Aditi said...

Yea you are right. The ban was implemented by people who dont even fully understand what blogs are. We dont protest against the govt's right to govern and curb terrorism but the entire blogspot is hardly a breeding ground for terrorist. Besides those radicals probably already shifted to another platform.
Besides how can the govt decide what we can and cannot see?

Ekta said...

Well written keshi!
Guess the govt is jsut trying to show that they'v done something to the public!!
However the people are not foolish to not see that its not abt doing something but abt doing the right thing!

SamY said...

if the consititution empowers the govt to enforce curfue and such, this is just another chapter in the same

they have made enuf mistakes to make another such blunder ... sure they shud be having gud advisors (unless they r in position by virtue of reservation)

I dun see a point in being negatively speculative so soon without the govt makeing its statement as to why?

as to whether it is an effective means or not is a choice of the govt ... they can come back to the people for every thing ... they gt make a call based on facts they have

I'd like to wait n watch in this case ... tho if the govt were to indefinitely enfore the ban ... then they'd havto substantiate :)

desperado said...

I like the narration of this post. It really makes you feel how close one is to their home of writing, their space of venting and discussing and its just very personal and treasured by the them and their friends who read it.

Now alas, not all are like you sweety. There may be mad chaps writing mad things and spreading crap around. The maniacs. I have seen so many hate groups in Orkut that my mind just whistles to see young people with so much hatred against a country lashing it out.

We are caught in between. We are talking reason and why what is rong and pointing the reason.

Now either the Gvmt is threathned by the kind of activity thats going on on Blogosphere that will weaken their strength if they have any or they are trying a lame shot of curbing fundamnetal ideas floating at an hour of crisis when all hands are pointing to one country, maybe even religion/s. They donnot want the speculation to lead to communal clashes as not everyone knows what they are writing.

i am however not very convinced that the Gvmt really thinks they are doing a good job of blocking blogs and preventing communcal violence springing up, but I can be surprised and maybe thats what is their aim even if it not legal in a democracy.

In Pak, the blogs were blocked during the Danish cartoons episode too.

On another note I cant help but have a smile as we are so effective and are a threat to the Gvmt that they need to illegally shut or terminate us. Many people asked us what we are doing to help, our voice is way too loud and the Gvmt is now shutting it so that speaks of the stregth we all have cultivated via blogging. Nothing ot be underestimated by anyone as we see how it has scared the shit out of some people.

and as a democracy it gives a bad example. india should not sink to the level of china.
if india want to be a respected word power stupidity should not mark its policy.

hopefully sl will not follow india.

It is clearly mentioned in today's times of India that the decision to blog blogspot was done because

-Emails can be tracked and not messages via blogs. So they had temporarily blocked blogspot to stop any kind of communication between terrorists. It was found that the terrorists used blogs to convey each other their messages!

however wrong and not so intelligent government's decision may be..they had done some survey before implementing it.Cant you guys sacrifice little for yr country?

Blocking the net and blogs is infringing on our right to information

besides every person even a terrorist is fighting for a cause

i have the right to know
what is the cause he is fighting for

only then we can eliminate the root cause and prevent recurrence of terrorist acts

killing the information flow is akin to killing the terrorist when cot

we will never know the arch enemy
we need to know what is the propaganda fed to the terrorist suicide bombers

(who will lay down their lives for the cause)

and counter the propaganda
