Killers' Paradise

Last night I was watching TV for a change and happened to catch this spine-chilling documentary about grotesque accounts of recent rapes and murders in Guatemala City. Apparently 573 women have been raped and killed between 2005 and 2006, it's on the rise in this particular area and there's nothing being done about it by the local Police or the government - how ridiculous is that? It was so sad to see the dead bodies of young women, some decapitated and some butchered to bits and left in the dumps to rot. No it didn't happen only to girls who go out at night or to girls who didn't have much of an education or to ones who didn't come from a secure family. They also killed Claudina who was a Uni student and one who came from an affluent family. She was at the wrong place at the wrong time and only 19yrs old. I switched the TV on half way through the documentary so I was not prepared to see such shocking scenes at all but yeah they showed it all. And this time I didn't get up and leave cos I wanted to hear the stories the families of these victims had to say and let me tell you it was very heart-breaking. I wanted to be a part of their grief and feel what they must feel right now. Some of the bodies were in coffins reading 'Name:XX' as they couldn't be identified and were buried with no family, not even a prayer. How sad is that...I just can't imagine that and when I saw such body bags being put into the graves, I murmured a little prayer in my heart - may her soul rest in peace..may her pain end now and be in the arms of the loving lord away from this cruel world. My mum and I watched with tears in our eyes.

It was horrific to even imagine that someone could really do that kind of thing to another human being. No one has the right to take another's will to live life. It's atrocious and it's beyond forgiveness. Some of the gangsters are in prison now and some are still walking scot-free. How fair is that for the victims and the families? Many victims' families were crying their hearts out saying none of the cases were followed up and investigated at all. That to me is sickening. Why are the governments and the Police of some countries not really doing their work, especially when the crime rate is this high and the nature of the crimes is this disgusting and going on for so long? I feel that alot of people in the relevant authorities have no value for human lives or are interested in really doing their jobs right..they just want the pay-slip and that's about it. These stories reminded me of the Priyadharshini murder case that Ishita and Southpaw have been voicing about and making an effort to make people realise that it's WE who have to bring justice to these innocent victims. We are alive and we can do something cant we? It may have been our friend, family member or colleague and how would that affect us then? I can't even go there. My dad was a Police Officer and was involved in investigating many murders and other serious crimes. I remember one night he had to go investigate the murder of a beauty queen in Sri Lanka. He came home that morning and told us that he can never forget the look on her face as she lay dead on the concrete floor...it cried out for only one thing...JUSTICE. Do we live in a world where killers have all the rights and victims have none? Where is the justice today? Stupid morons who sit on their ass doing nothing about these cases should be fired and human rights' activists should get together and implement their opinions to prevent such hideous crimes and to protect the communities. I know nothing can bring the dead back but atleast it will serve some justice to those who died unfairly at the hands of violence and to the families who will never really recover anyways. BTW this documentary struck a chord with me big time...life is too short to whinge or to be selfish - you never know when it'll be snatched from you or your loved-ones. After someone is gone, no point trying to say what you had to say before. So be happy always, do good, make others around you feel and know they are loved, and dance your cares away.
Godspeed!

That's one thing abt. living in 3rd world countries . Justice are hard to come by . Amazing how some individuals devote part or their whole life to serving the underpriviledge among us .
I read abt. Dikembe Mutombo who spent his money and time to solicit help from anyone so he can build a hospital in his native country of Congo . This NBA player is almost there after 7 yrs. He used a saying in Congo that states ' when the elevator door is done at the top , be sure to close the door so it can come down to pick the people there ' I had tears in my eyes reading his efforts..

The enforcement agencies hardly perform to their actual capacities and most of the laws r now incompetant to deal with the current situations.
Lets talk abt Priyadarshini rape and murder case...
They hv proved that money and status can buy anything and even justice. The deceased gal's haymen was sewn back after the post mortem to nullify the rape being done. u mentioned my name and my attempts to promote that cause, well let me tell u and everyone who's reading my crap very honestly that whatever's being done so far is not gonna take the case anywhere, not even the effort thru RTI is gonna help coz everything is tampered, the whole god damn thing is TINTED and yet there is a faint ray of light in that case which nobody seems to be realising and working in that direction. By God everyday i pray to God to give me the strength back so that i can be at work again and do something which i can be proud of when i take my last breath coz since the time i hv been serving i hv only heard abusing stuffs abt my service and my fraternity thanks to a large section of mother fucking corrupted officers all over the country. And by God i m gonna prove my point loud and clear one day.
A couple of months back there was a lot of hooohaaaa over that son of a bitch Rahul Mahajan's case, btw is anyone concerned about the guy who actually died,Bibeik Moitro? And the authorities investigating that case deserve an oscar award for their stupendous performance, first they dragged him on his wheelchair to the lock-up to display their conviction in that case and later on presses certain NDPS acts which they knew they can never prove in the court and were absolutely baseless and on which the court will immediately grant him the bail, now what? the guy is back in mumbai, screwing his gf left and right 24/7 and in some weeks wud get married to him happily....Be ready media fellows u got some good entertaining stuffs in future to sell ur channels.
Media, my foot!!! we all praised them when they highlighted the priyadarshini case and since then there is no voice after all now they hv the london blast unfoiled news...they got busy digging how to use the liquid explosives, then they got the news of explosion in colombo so they got busy and exposed the whole world what a presidential security system is as if nobody knew what it was and if anybody really didnt then now they r all educated...
God!!! my head is spinning, what a stupid world we all live in.....

P.s:- I m sorry keshi i cudnt control myself so i m sorry for using so much of ur space and pl ignore the abusive words, i really didnt hv any other word in my dictionary to replace them.

:( A similar case in M'sia. A school-going going gal, Andrea was raped and murdered ironically metres away from her school. her half naked body was dumped together with some rubbish. happned years ago, but the case was never solved. and guess what? i've seen the gal, well and alive days before the tragedy. and the second time i saw her was on newspapers.

Latest would be rape and murder of Nor Hidayu

be it Guatemala, India or M'sia.. butchers and devils seems to be everywhere.

Thats heartbreaking indeeds. i wonder how this people could even think to kill someone so horrendously. Don;t they have guilt in their hearts or at least a convicton that darkness is overtaking their minds. and the worst part for a family as you said would be to have a kin unidentified when died. and being cut up to parts. gosh Keshi, i wonder where this murderers came from . The heart of a human could turn so cold as to commit even a cold blooded muder. scary ain't it.

Noone asked for it. it just happened.and if they could still sleep at night..i wonder really what they are. The girl looks good and to think she has passed through life in an unexpected way..
*Breaks my heart.

I think the murderer is probably being taken for a ride in his mind.

Best wishes on Independence Day. One day late though.

Was disappointed with Mannu's speech this year. Its probably the first speech telecast that I didnt listen to (live or deferred). The mere mention of "Stop terrorism otherwise people supporting peace process will become less" wasn't even a rebuke, much less a threat. What I expected was "Stop terrorism or else we kick your ass...diplomatically or otherwise". Sad...

Raise this because you raised the issue of justice. Dont you think the people who died in Mumbai deserve justice? Isn't it the PM's prerogative to give those people justice??

If we need a hard justice for such crimes, I think they shud be hanged before the public. It is cruel and hard. But think of innocent ppl' who ge thurt and killed by these stupids.
When compared to US, you do not see much crime here in Canada. Even if it happens, it can be due to family problems or kidnapping.
Money plays everywhere even to hide the truth in other countries.

Because money can be justice and can close eyes...and the killings will always go unoticed. The south american countries attributes to thousands of killins every year, but most of it just goes away simply like that, their human rights records are dirt and the government jsut dont care. We are heading towards trying times, they divide is widening and more desprate people is walkign around. The best would be to safe ourselves, because we cant be superman (not all the time anways. ). I can say it is horrific and sad and brutal but dont we all know this but we still see it happen. Now all I can feel is anger and bitterness for having let crimes steep up to such proportions. The cop mentality or the Government mentality makes me want to really go there and kick their asses off into their faces if such a thin is possible. We all need to put pressure when we see such crimes. A documentary was prepared, it is a good gesture for awareness but can those people who made the documentary also help to get the criminals punished can the viewers of the documentary help too. It is useless to see such acts and remain helpless as we need to make ourselves useful. We have to protest. I am way too angered to say any other thing Keshi. Sorry about that.

Keshi,
Just today i watched "the day my god dies" and lst week "the ghost calling". One was about women trafficking and another about assualt/rape/murder of thousands of women during war in croatia.
Life seems so very sick everywhere. All the places are clustered with those corrupt leaders who sell their souls and those sick security personnel who themselves are guilty of those serious crimes. I wouldnot say all, but yeah, most of them surely are!
We are living in the 3rd world countries where justice seems to be inside the pages of books! Even if someone is guilty, those disgusting ####### will move out in some or the other way. Some have money and some have power!
When you look at it, it feels like you wanna take a big sword and start searching for those criminals who are disgrace to mankind!
Its just the same everywhere, only places differ, language of terror and crime seem to scream in the same manner! and you know what?? 70% of the victims are women... !

** Stupid morons who sit on their ass doing nothing about these cases should be fired and human rights' activists should get together and implement their opinions to prevent such hideous crimes and to protect the communities.

do you think people in their positions have all the power to do what is right to? don't you think the investigators will be frustrated over being forced to do something?

We live in an age where money is power. Don't you think developed nation get away with their acts coz they overshadow the rest of the world?

The only way to beat these people is power. Without power we'd be just a bunch or protestors and nothing more, whome the authorities are waiting to get tired by buying time and then move on happily.

Its not a fair world keshi, its faaaaaar from it.

** Do we live in a world where killers have all the rights and victims have none?

I think the world has always been this way. Just that technology has made the world flat and hence you are seeing and hearing that which ppl did'nt long back :). One was never aware of atrocities beynd ones community, now every community is under scrutiny.

The world is quite the same. Only our perception of it has changed.

huggggzz!

excellent advice at the end!

here at least the high publicity cases seems to get prosecuted, and guilty ppl get sentences though may be less than they deserve. for instances in a recent case ( royal park murder case) the sentence was 12 years only . but there may have been extenuating circumstances ( i did not know all evidence so cannot judge) . and anyway prosecution has appealed. in some other cases life imprisonment or death( which is not carried out here though technically in the books ) sentences were given.

but i don't think most crimes that do not get media attention are prosecuted. in fact i read somewhere that only 5% of all crimes get prosecuted. so justice in not available. this will only lead to loss of respect for law and more crime. as well as vigilantly justice. given that war related crimes also take place, as well side effects of war ( with deserters etc. ) we may be heading for something like what you describe. that we are not quite there yet is a blessing .

as for criminals and what makes them do these thing , i suppose they are each different and if we put ourselves in their shoes we may understand. though not approve them. after all i believe even in the worst circumstance everyone has a choice. they made the wrong choice and need to submit to justice.

hey KS!

**WIll the animal instinct go away from humans -

I guess some ppl have too much of that animal instinct in em...they r the ones who murder. Maybe we should put such ppl in the zoo?

~~Karmic_Jay

**Remember Rwanda, Darfur?

I do! goshhhh it makes me think that humans r not really humans yet...they r worse than lions and tigers and should not be called humans.

~~Priya

Ur right Priya...money and power play a big part in 3rd world countries. Its so unfair!

**When compared to US, you do not see much crime here in Canada. Even if it happens, it can be due to family problems or kidnapping.

thats right..even here in Aus most of the crimes r committed cos of personal probs. And trust me the police do a terrific job...they will hunt u down till ur found and punished, even if it takes months/years to solve it. They will get u somehow.

~~Neihal

**...I dont think the govt even understands whow seriuos a crime it is.

thats so true. Politicians r just interested in themselves thats all.

~~Nelly

**When you take the life of another, you lose them....

that will scare most of the criminals yes...but some countries dun even bother to catch em, thats the sad part!

~~Ghost_Particle

Ghosty hows u?

**No one cares or respects human life.

yes and why is that? Have the new times made us monsters?

**I think its best that we all stick in a close group and dont be 'open' to the world.

that actually made me think if Im just wasting my energy worrying abt things I cannot change...or can I? Im totally confused.

**Because money can be justice and can close eyes...

money is the root of all evil.

**their human rights records are dirt and the government jsut dont care.

yes it seemed like that...hpw pathetic is that. Cant the UN do something abt that than sitting there doing nothing?

**We are heading towards trying times, they divide is widening and more desprate people is walkign around.

yes...ur right. more selfish and greedy ppl breeding by the second.

**The best would be to safe ourselves, because we cant be superman (not all the time anways. ). Hugs.

Huggggggggz Ghosty u make so much sense! I sometimes think I can do anything...but it seems we r just a grain of sand in this large desert of venomous snakes and cactus hearts.

~~Luvwannabefree25

JD I missed ya too! huggggggggz!

**I guess most people just don't want to think about it until it happens close to home.

yeah and how selfish is that. I havent lost anyone to such crime but I still think abt these ppl n even cry sometimes...cos I feel helpless not being able to do anythign abt it.

**I can't imagine what it would be like to be at the end of a knife...

exactly my thoughts. How terrible it must be to face that!

**wondering "why"... Everything seems to have gone awry... We need more love... less hate... and we all need to pray for the world!!

so true JD...but the more we think we need peace and love, the more it seems to be running away from us...there's a few golden hearts like u and the rest here who always want love n peace..but the big world out there seems so full of hatred and ill-will!

Huggggggggz JD have a good day!

~~Saby

dun blame it all on the Western world...cos most of such crimes happen in out own countries in the 3rd world and thats where even justice is not respected Saby!

~~Christabelle

Chris yes even I couldnt believe when I saw the documentary...I was like could this be really happening? One girl's body was found in the dumps...she has red nail-polish on her nails..I noticed that as they lifted her naked body. It was horrible! Her dad was in shock crying his heart out!

Even is the b#stards go to jail or get hanged, there's no real justice to someone who dies that way.

~~Sudeep

yes..all we see on TV and the papers theses days is terrorism, rape and murder. I think the whole world is going down the dumps.

**judicial system has so many loopholes n it is the guilty always who take advantage of it..

thats so true...the criminals know that and they take advantage of that. Or else how can so many murderers be walking ard free!

~~Starbender

yes...thats what I realised big time when I was watching this documentary. Not that I didnt know life was short but it hit me more as I watched it. Once a happy Uni student, the next moment a dead body..gone just like that leaving her mum, dad, brother and friends behind. How fragile is life!

Im glad u decided to say what u had to say to that person. Dun leav eanything for tomorrow Yash cos we never know if we/they will be here tomorrow.

yes girl...but why arent the police in certain countries NOT doing anything abt it? I know we cant stop all the criminals in the world, but the authorities should do their job right na?

**Now all I can feel is anger and bitterness for having let crimes steep up to such proportions.

exactly!

**The cop mentality or the Government mentality makes me want to really go there and kick their asses off into their faces if such a thin is possible.

I feel the same frustration and Im not even related to any victims. Just imagine how those families must feel!

**We all need to put pressure when we see such crimes. A documentary was prepared, it is a good gesture for awareness but can those people who made the documentary also help to get the criminals punished can the viewers of the documentary help too.

A very good point. I watched the documentary but what am I gonna do abt it apart from blogging abt it...I need to think abt that.

**It is useless to see such acts and remain helpless as we need to make ourselves useful. We have to protest. I am way too angered to say any other thing Keshi.

na thats ok..I feel the same way. I feel Im useless...but I got an idea after reading ur comment. I think I'll write a letter to the president of Guatemala. I really will. Wut say?

~~La vida Loca

**The criminals get nastier and cleaver by the day.

ur right...we dunno wut that is anymore. The more safety measures we take and the more technologically advanced we r, the worse the crime rate gets!

**We live in an age where money is power. Don't you think developed nation get away with their acts coz they overshadow the rest of the world?

**here at least the high publicity cases seems to get prosecuted, and guilty ppl get sentences though may be less than they deserve.

**for instances in a recent case ( royal park murder case) the sentence was 12 years only .

OMG read the above qn from me..I was asking abt this!! :):) So that boy was the killer? Sharmantha? 12yrs is nothing for such terrible crime. Should be life-imprisonment.

**in fact i read somewhere that only 5% of all crimes get prosecuted.

thats awful!

**so justice in not available. this will only lead to loss of respect for law and more crime.

Money buys the system even in the most sophisticated and developed countries. Don't u read the occassional news of using the Central intelligence personals and federals being used as mercinaries in some of the countries which r categorised as 3rd world nations. I can list all those activities where the money buys the system in developed countries and that list my friend wud be larger, longer and more hideous than the 3rd world countries. The issue here is the negligence of law and enforcement and social security.

Don't compare things in Australia and Srilanka.
Srilanka from the time it was liberated went on for another conflict within its own limits and couldn't stand up properly on its feet since then. Moreover the amneties to the concerned depts in srilanka is not upto the mark compared to a developed nation. I rem my trip in colombo in 2002 as a part of security arrangements during the ICC champions trophy and i fondly rem giving briefings every morning to the officers there on security related issues incl the IGP. In india an IGP is far more equipped and qualified to listen to a Sr.Inspector like me, but for them certain things were really new and which they had never dealt with and the reason again is that they hv been so much engrossed in their conflicts for years that they never had the opportunity to look for the changing scenes and thats why we still see explosions every now and then in a city such organised like colombo. And mind u the day they start matching up with the routine standards of law enforcement, u won't find so mucg crime there, coz its a small nation with more man-power.
As far as India is concerned, it is surely guilty of keeping itself in doggs, even after all the facilities which it can always avail, even after all the intelligence they still like to stay careless and thats even more serious.
Now coming back to the developed nations, well even they r guilty of having many flaws coz when something goes wrong we see more devastation than a 3rd world nation and with an occasional punishment to some dignitory, they can't wash their hands from the global corruption activities.

The issue here is the negligence of law and enforcement and social security.

true and why is that?***Like i hv told u very much in detail a year and a half back on ur post on capital punishment, the negligence is the part of the biggest business in the world that is corruption, last year the business of corruption globally was ard 1600$billions, so u can see the magnitude of corruption amongst us and also figure out how difficult it is to fight against it.

Where is the world going? What is the reason for such acts?

As far as India is concerned, its been since ages now that rich and famous are always set free, no matter how cruel they have acted. Justice is not same for all. If you are rich and famous, you have rights to do wrong.

Is it same everywhere? At least they should be punished for their act to such an extent that no one can dare to do wrong at least.

When countries and people stop defending the men and their actions that is when we will make real headway towards stopping this

** We all have the power and why is that power not being able to do anything in the 3rd world countries only?

Its an illusion kitten, only to the ends they want you to have (if they want you to). Its the same everywhere, just that the 3rd world countries the crime rate is proportionate to the populous. Its about visibility.

** I know it's not a fair world...but when it comes to like 573 murders in a year, I call that BIZZARELY UNFAIR!

I ain't saying its justified. All I'm saying in the law enforcement people dun always have all its takes to exercise doing whats right. Coz if they did so they wudn't last.

** NEVER..not this high in crime rate and that too with no investigations whatsoever.

as I said its about visibility ... vagaries of intensities (crime rate) do persist ... but I think judicial system's n tech hav made it all more visible ... in our parents age if such things happened, it wud be lost in time ... now there r so many ways to voice it all :)

** Samy thats not right...we dun need to have technology to know what our crime rates r.As ur mum or dad, was there ever this kinda serial killing all over the world back then?

maybe, or just that it always were n we never knew :-?

** Nope I dun agree. The world is chaos right now. If the world didnt change, we have to have less bombs, less rapes, less murders, less security checks :)

The world has always been so. Theft n crime were unchecked long back, n accepted as part of life. The more secure we became, the more conniving turned the criminals.

It was one of empires and conquering before, people subjugated to their kings and their wishes. History only speaks of the good side of things. It is a greater free world today, n so is the nature of crime.

I ain't justifying it. But its inevitable, you plug one leak only to find another one. The world has always been so. Since we'v been protected from the grotesque nature of it, we r dismayed when we hear of such.

Dear Keshi,
I have addressed this gruesome actrocities in Guatemala City and other parts of the Americas and even informed the appropriate offices of the UN. But I never got a response. I have been an employee of the Unicef in Nigeria and I know that most of those working in the UN care only about their fat salaries and cosy accommodations and squandering tax payers money on expensive workshops and seminars in luxury hotels or resorts and careless about the humanitarian emergencies in Guatemala City, Darfur and other places. Were they not there when nearly one million people were butchered in the Rwanda holocaust? Because I have been lodged in a double suite at a luxury hotel and I was wondering what I would be doing in a double suite when I would be sleeping alone and the Unicef is a charity?

If I tell the UN again, I may not get the kind of critical response the emergency deserves. Because as far as I am concerned the emergency in Guatemala City is worse than the Middle East crisis and as a former refugee child, I can prove it.

The UN Security Council should be sacked!

Sometimes we wonder why hundreds of thousands of humnas are being killed in both natural disasters and wars? And God seems not to care? Because, we have ignored the cries of the innocent blood of underaged girls, women and others raped and butchered daily in different parts of the world while the UN and the so called Super Powers look the other way claiming to the waging a war on terror, when the worst acts of terrorism are still going on in Guatemala City and other parts of the world.

May God forgive us all.

The society was ravaged by death and violence and this was the beginning of the development of huge criminal gangs--there is a very notorious gang out of El Salvador that is very powerful in Los Angeles as well. The poor people of Guatemala and other Central American countries are still suffering the terrible effects of the destruction of large parts of the civil, economic, and political society.
At the same time, I cannot believe the community would tolerate such a huge killing spree. It just goes to show how corrupt the police there are. They are usually in cahoots with the gangs.

so that boy was the killer? Sharmantha? 12yrs is nothing for such terrible crime. Should be life-imprisonment.
yes he was convicted. many ppl agree with you.

we may be heading for something like what you describe.
how d u mean?

i mean a lawless situation.

I dunno if I can ever put myself in their shoes! There's no justification of violence..atleast not with me :)
**after all i believe even in the worst circumstance everyone has a choice.
yes but making the wrong choice doesnt have to be so violent if one can think.

i don't think there is any justification either. i meant that they had choices ( in every case ) and made the wrong one.

have a great day ! :-)

~~Southpaw

Hey Southy :) I know wut u mean abt SL being in conflict for so long with the LTTE etc.

But if we DONT compare 3rd world countries with developed countries, we will never know what we r doing wrong. The fact that Aus doesnt suffer terrorism like SL does, itself becomes something to analyse.

anyways how many times have u been to SL? lucky u...I havent been there in a long time :*(

~~Jac

**taking courage from previous success.

yes...but apparently there r gangs that never get hunted down. Basically the police is slack.

~~Kumar_Chetan

heyyy Kumar!

**and unfortunatley females are not fittest on this planet.

may be not physically but o.w. they r the FITTEST :)

**males fight for them and fight with them.

some animalistic males do that.

**nature.

ur right...thats nature indeed. But we have been given a brain and I so hope most males will use it.

tnxxx Kumar :)

~~Anand

**I strongly beleive that in schools today there girls should be taught self defence as one of the courses....

thats an interesting point Anand. I too believe that it should be a compulsory subject.

~~Jewel_Rays

**where they see dead corpse almost everyday

OMG how freaky is that! How do they go bakk home and eat, sleep or concentrate on anything else? Cos Im someone who cant get my mind off anything gruesome once I've set my eyes on it! I just tend to think abt it all the time and get very upset. Guess u and I r not made for such jobs Amy. These guys must be very tough ppl!

~~Het_Waghela

Het heyy hows u?

** If you are rich and famous, you have rights to do wrong.

true...but here in Aus it's not like that. Even the richest/powerful man gets convicted if he's wrong. Trust me there's more justice here than in SL/India/Guatemala.

tnxxx Het!

~~Musings

m000nie mwahhhhhh! Imagine being at the end of a knife/gun and being asked to consent for rape? And then shot to death? Claudina was shot in the head after the gruesome deed.

~~Aditi

TY Aditi for raising a very noble and fair point! Alot of men and even some women think that it's girls who wear short skirts who get in trouble and they deserve it...how selfish and biased is that!

**No way did any girl ever ask to be raped by the way she was dressed or anything she did.

So true. And like u said, one of the rapists in that documentary said the same...he said that many girls invite trouble by wearing revealing clothes and being at the wrong place. How convenient and cheap for him to say that!

The bottomline is that no one asks/wants to be raped and killed! If the guy is sane, no one will be hurt in the first place.

tnxxx Aditi!

~~Samy

Heyy Samy hows u? :)

**just coz our near n dear one's havn't heard of such incidents doesn't mean they didn't happen

true...but surely Samy stats show that Crime rate is pretty high now than it was b4.

**there r two sides to it keshi, one the police have to make ppl feel their need, so they have to let the unlawful happen so that they can enforce law.

huh lol why wud the Police have to make ppl FEEL their need? Police is there to serve the community by deafult. They dun have to make ppl come behind them. Samy that's ridiculous cos Police have to make sure that the UNLAWFUl doesn ttake place. There r instances that it may happen and we cant help that, but Ploice is there to protect us too..not only to attend to a crime AFTER it happens. That's like saying let crimes happen cos Police will TC of it! The thinking should be to somehow NOT LET CRIME HAPPEN. Surely safety, security, protection, prevention is much better than death, injury, loss, cure, lawsuits and prison!

**All I'm saying in the law enforcement people dun always have all its takes to exercise doing whats right. Coz if they did so they wudn't last.

huh why not?

**maybe, or just that it always were n we never knew :-?

how come ur not sticking to stats cos I thought u believed in facts :) There may not have been advanced tech back then, but surely the stats were recorded.

~~Jeevan

**At least we are here for them to bring it out and share their feelings.

yes Jeevan but I feel useless...apart from my blog post here, I feel Im doing nothing for em :(

~~Known Stranger

yes this is one big zoo :)

**we have a invisble cage called mind and emotions and humanity.

so true!

**whom to blame. We all are animals.

thats right. but we have higher power than other animals...so we must think b4 we say/do anything.

~~Orikinla Osinachi.

Hellllo Ori!

**I have addressed this gruesome actrocities in Guatemala City and other parts of the Americas and even informed the appropriate offices of the UN. But I never got a response.

Really? And u never got a response? Shows how hard the authorities r working!

**those working in the UN care only about their fat salaries and cosy accommodations and squandering tax payers money on expensive workshops and seminars in luxury hotels or resorts

exactly! bloody selfish losers.

**Were they not there when nearly one million people were butchered in the Rwanda holocaust?

true!

**Because as far as I am concerned the emergency in Guatemala City is worse than the Middle East crisis and as a former refugee child, I can prove it.

true..when I saw that documentary I couldnt believe what i was seeing! I was wondering could this really be happening in this same world that Im living!! There was no sense of respect, justice or even simply humanity towards each other.

**The UN Security Council should be sacked!

They should all be fired. Whats Kofi Anan doing??

**And God seems not to care?

Watching that doc I felt there was no God. Seriously.

~~Eclipsed Thoughts

Hey girl! tnxx :)

~~Contented
Hellooooooo :)

**Happened to see your pics also...You too look serious...hehehe...:)

LOL serious where? Hows u btw?

~~Has to be me

**The Govt shd punish such ppl drastically like chopping off their dicks etc.

lol I wish they really did that. But I guess there r some govt dudes that need to be chopped down there too.

~~Mr. Maverick

**then listened to this song "Stars are blind" by Paris hilton. Listen to it if you havent, you might like it too.

awww tnxxx for that...I will check it out soon. Huggggggggz Arun!

~~Kickassso

**ultimately We're all dead, and i dont care which way i go

me neither..I just wanna die having lived a kind life.

~~Ryan

**The society was ravaged by death and violence and this was the beginning of the development of huge criminal gangs--

yes thats right...and most of the central/south american countries have huge criminal gangs.

**there is a very notorious gang out of El Salvador that is very powerful in Los Angeles as well.

really? eeeeeks!

**At the same time, I cannot believe the community would tolerate such a huge killing spree. It just goes to show how corrupt the police there are. They are usually in cahoots with the gangs.

spot on..they dun give a damn! U should have seen the tears of a father and one mother of a 13yr old victim...her pink sneakers that she had been wearing when she died, were also kept inside her coffin and the mum was wailing her heart out! Where is the humanity and justice?

~~SCRIBBLEZ TO WAKEUP

**A chill just ran thru my spine when u said you will write a letter. Yes Lady, you shall write and if needed we all will write one after the other until one of the letters is read. Some answers given. If they dont read it we will shame the Government.

aww this is brilliant. I will draft a letter soon and I hope few of u lovely bloggers will help me with it. Thankss a ton mwahhhhh!

~~White Forest

**why do the world has to be so cruel!!!!

I have no idea darl...cos I dunno how it is like to be that inhumane..I just dunno and I feel numb.

~~Shuba

~~Mumbai Guy

**Only now we are getting closer to each other, faster than ever. Thanks to Internet.

yes...the internet is a great source of awareness, info and knowledge. It build bridges between ppl and countries.

**Recent arrest in Jonbennet case proves how sick people are there everywhere.

and it also proves that even 10yrs of investigations can bring results. I honor those guys who caught him without ever giving up.

**Not easy and it demands time and effort from each one of us. How and in what way, us to decide.

yes true...what can we do?

~~ari4u

heyy Ari!

**The meaning of justice should be altered to also include prompt and swift action. No point in waiting 10 years to punish someone.

thats true..and also it should be altered to say that even if it takes 10yrs of investigations, it should not be given up. Look at JonBenet's case!

**Men need to stop being savages. Women need to stand up for their rights and become stronger.

true...and acquire self-defense skills.

**Very sad to read all this.

yes Ari...I still have tears in my eyes.

~~Sittingnut

G'day mate!

**yes he was convicted. many ppl agree with you.

wut a loser! I rem seeing a pic of him with crutches when he went to courts. Wut a spoilt loser! I'm glad ehe was convicted and no power/money from his family could save him. Hats off to officers in SL!

**i mean a lawless situation.

yes..it's already lawless.

**i don't think there is any justification either. i meant that they had choices ( in every case ) and made the wrong one.

true...I u'stand now :)

U have a great day too! Somehow u brought me good news today...cos I was so sad for Yvonne Jonsson...I wanted her killer to get caught soon and its like a dream come true...such a good feeling today. tnxxx to u hugggggggggz!

Yes, it's truly horrific. Those women deserve justice and their society deserves security. I would love to visit Guatemala, though. It's not too far from where I live in the grand scheme of things and it has a rich culture. The crime is so terrible, I have opted not to go. The risk is too great.

But since you are Sri Lankan, you may be interested to know that archaeologists have discovered in recent years, Guatemalan ruins that include temple (cave) carvings that tell the story of the Ramayana! Some of the ancient temples reportedly resemble many temples in South Indian (Tamil Nadu, Karnataka).

One day, when things aren't so scary, I plan to visit Guatemala and see these ruins myself. I have traveled all the way through Mexico, so I have almost made it there.

I saw a documentary on how American Gangsta Lifestyles have been introduced in Central America thanks to the deportation of criminals. So these orphans (parents are working in the USA and they just left the kids there) are living like it is Lord of the Flys and spend their days selling drugs and killing rival gangstas.

They have separate prisons for each gang and guards let the inmates do whatever they want. Why? Because the gangs threaten the families of the guards. The court system is corrupt and all in all it is a complete mess.

I read that in Brazil the police 'eliminate' members of the street gangs and this still has little effect on the high levels of crime.

After forty years of being soft on 'poor criminals they are products of their environment'the system here in North America is also broken. The rights of the criminal vastly outweigh the rights of the victim whether that victim is dead or alive. WHY?

The whole end game for our legal system appears to be about billable legal fees. The court is not looking to seek justice they are wasting our time by merely over-protecting the accused. What about Justice. What about the victim? We are so lost and the public has given up. When these crimes start affecting the wealthy enclaved segments of society on a daily basis THEN things will change.

Unfortunately the pendulum will swing over to the other extreme as the aging baby boomers and their parents will demand more protection and more severe punishments to atone for the last forty years. People are fed up.

Seems like u have travelled alot wow! Nice.

that info abt ancient temple ruins is sooo interesting! tnxx for that. I think I should mention here that most South American ppl look like Idians/Sri Lankans too!

~~Homo_Escapeons

ur right...the prisoner is given more time, protection and attention than the victims! and ppl r indeed fed up. Im one of them!
