The Land Of Plenty

~~IN MEMORY OF STEVE IRWIN ~~

I've been tagged by my sweet Canadian friend Zhu, to do this very interesting tag. It requires the tagee to write 10 priceless experiences from the land where they live in. So in my case I have to list 10 Priceless Aussie Experiences. So I chose today to do this tag cos Sept 4 marks the one year death anniversary of Aussie legend Steve Irwin. So this post is a dedication to Stevo's passionate and lively spirit that will never be forgotten. (you can also read my last year's post on him here). So here I go with 10 priceless Aussie experiences...do check out the links on each item to get more info on them and don't forget to answer the question at the end. Dive in!

1.Kangaroos - Anyone would love to see these cute creatures hopping around, some with little joeys in their pouches. But don't ever have one hopping in front of your moving car ok! Then there are Koalas, wallabies and possums that are cousins of the roos that you might wanna hang out with as well. Australian wildlife is truly a treat to experience.

2.Vegemite - I love Vegemite cos I have always liked the taste and the goodness of it. Try some Vegemite if you're suffering from Accute Smile Deficiency. Speaking of vegemite, don't forget to try the good ol Aussie meat pie!

3.Sydney Harbour,Aussie Beaches and Holiday Haven - Opera House and the Botancial gardens, along with the enchanting cruises, would make you wanna camp here for life. And need I even tell you about Aussie beaches - they are the best ever! Besides, Sydney has been voted as the BEST Holiday City in the world, for being the most clean and user-friendly city as well as having the best restaurants.

4.Blue-eyed Aussie Hunks and Super HOT Chicks - I mean where else would Keshi be, if not here hehe. Almost every Aussie guy I come across is a hunk (except for John Howard - no offense, but he's cute you know, with those bushy eyebrows that look like a secret getaway of it's own). And for boys here, Aussie babes are some of the sexiest chicks on Earth. And with Steph, Lee, Nora, Caz and Phishez living here, need I present you with anymore proof!

5. 'G'day Mate' Attitude - Majority of Aussies are friendly creatures. I love their simplicity and laid-back, upfront nature. Aussies love a good laugh and they're expert pranksters. And you wont forget those beautiful smiles, the unique slang and their unmatchable Aussie sense of humor...now where else in the world can you get that!

6.
Crocodile Hunter Lifestyle - Every Aussie may not be Steve Irwin, but Aussies live life adventurously and they love their sport. There's no backing off when it comes to any sport and almost anything in life - Living life to the fullest and to the best of their ability is a very Aussie thing.

7.
Safe Roads and Perfect Climate - Generally Aussie roads are chaos-free and traffic flows smoothly...majority of drivers respect and obey road rules. And hey Aussie weather is endurable on any day! Winters are not too harsh and while Summers can get really Hot, we can always move to Melbourne then - what say Aidan and Caz ;-). Keshi ducks for cover...

8.
Unity and Diversity
- Australia is a very multi-cultural country that has migrants from all over the world. Part of that great Aussie spirit is giving everyone a fair chance and equal rights. No one is treated here based on their color or creed - instead every individual is respected based on their character. I live here so I know better. And heyy we are friends with the crocs too!

9.
The Aborigines
- The very first settlers in Australia are a must-experience. If you visit Northern Territory, you'll experience the beauty, talent and the mystical life of the Indigenous Australians. And I don't want to forget the amazing Ayers Rocks (Uluru) that is a must-see if and when you're here.

10.Keshi - I mean how can Australia be Australia without her OMG! We are talking 'national treasure' material here mate. There can only be one Diva in Austraaaalya...move over Kylie!

oww there're certainly more than 10 priceless Aussie experiences...but I'm sure you can research on that by yourselves and by reading the links here as well.
And I'd like to say that my Aussie friends here Caz, Nora, Aidan, Lee, Fergal, Phishez, Andrew and Steph's blogs would also gave you first-hand Aussie stories...a peek into the daily life of real Aussies. Yeah Australia ROCKS!

As a valuable exercise, I'd love to hear one priceless experience from the land where you live in. Can't wait to hear, now spill em!

btw watch the music video...it's very Aussie! :)

~~I come from a land down under
Where beer does flow and men chunder...
Cant you hear, cant you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover....

Let me see...

Kangaroos... yeah, they surprised me too. I didn't know I was going to see that many actually !

Vegemite... sorry, I hate that stuff. I though it was Nutella at first and was extremely disappointed !

Sydney harbor and OZ beach are awesome places to hang out. Bondi... loved that places. So may huge beach, nobody there... I took some great pictures !

I have to agree on the OZ women too. They're hot !!! I know, I'm a female too... but yes, I did look at them :$

And yes, Keshi is an Australian classic, I just didn't have a chance to meet her ;)

Hey now dats a cool list.. and i hafta agree abt da chicks and all.. i mean, it like bang on.. no proof needed seen enuf of 'em!! the oz land does seem to be tempting at times!!
but then the heart is of an Indian... os regarding my country... well... living in India ia a priceless experience... nothing can beat that... about India.. frankly, i have a host of things to choose from... it would be really tough... travelling i overcrowded buses, or the long distance trains, the endless wait at soem paltform, the drive through the himalayas, watching a lake in diferent seasons, from being completely frozen to crystal blue, a walk through the revolting slums, a leisure time in a palatial house, the roadside dhaba, the plush 5* hotel, a La carte meal, a glass of lassi to down a sumptous of aloo paratha, the hand pulled rickshaws, the maniac auto rickshaw drivers who can give Schumacher the scare of his life, the festivals (there are so many!!)... the frenzy with which one decks up during a wedding... keshi there are too many for a single fella like to jot down.. and having experienced them all.... it woudl be unfair to single out anyone fo them!!

I really like to read your blog, including all the comments. But don't count on me to make the top ten list. I have the time, but I don't find it. You should not have the time, but you find it!

Keshi, Kylie... Could you perhaps just also mention Nicole?

Jeevan said...

Interesting pieces of information about Aus keshi. In this Steve Irwin, the Sydney bridge, Melbourne great sea side and Kangaroos are couldn’t forgettable ones.

This song and video is fun watching.

Our India has lots of interesting, beautiful, historicism to tell. If it comes to my own city it’s the Beach that was a main reason to found Chennai by British East India Company. The world famous Marina Beach is a must unforgettable, I wonder many times by this world 2nd largest beach. This is a place where u could feel joy, need a holiday from everything…. It’s a place to spent, with frolic around. This street of Kamraj along the Marina is one of most important streets of Nation, which hold the heritages of Tamils with leader’s monument and statues.

Aw, I feel all warm and fuzzy now Keshi. A few comments.

Vegemite. I need a daily fix.

Sydney, just beautiful for a holiday.

I don't car at all for the late Irwin who bothered animals needlessly.

In the chaos of third world motor car/motor cycle/bicycle/rickshaw/pedestrian traffic, you never see road rage like you do in Oz.

The Aborigines. Our shame and our insoluble problem.

As you say, Australia is made up of many peoples and it works pretty well. There is no reason why our future Kylie person could not be Keshi.

Hi Keshi

You have no rush-hour traffic jams-WOW!!

We have the busiest highway, freeway, motorway or whatever you want to call it in the world. Even, California can't beat the 401 in Ontario, Canada. It's like playing Russian roulette when you travel on this highway. Every time I drive on the 401 I say a prayer to the road gods, and I thank them when get off safely.

Most people have heard of the CN Tower in Toronto. I was riding up one the elevators (lifts) when it came to a stop near the top. The elevators being on the outside made this experience a little bit more scary. Needless-to-say, I was praying to the elevator gods.

Finaly, after everyone on board pissed their pants, the thing started to move.

CN TOWER
'Defining the Toronto skyline, the CN Tower is Canada's most recognizable and celebrated icon. At a height of 553.33m (1,815 ft., 5 inches), it is Canada’s National Tower, the World's Tallest Building, an important telecommunications hub, and the centre of tourism in Toronto.

'Each year, approximately 2 million people visit the CN Tower to take in the breath-taking view and enjoy all the attractions it has to offer.

'The CN Tower was built in 1976 by Canadian National (CN) who wanted to demonstrate the strength of Canadian industry by building a tower taller than any other in the world.'

Scared silly

Aussie friendliness-I totally agree-most of the Aussies in our office are the trusting,Hey Mate kinds.(Nee,no Aussie females around,so,I wouldn't know whether they also say 'Hey,Mate'..do they??)

Safe roads and climate...lovely combo.

Lastly,I would love to see kangaroos, koalas, wallabies, possums and Keshi together..oops..*ducks for cover as Keshi hops over .*...

Being easy going and indifferent is just the Aussie way. I love the way no matter what has happened, IE. Falling down a cliff, "how are you" the answer is always "good"

A country were a war nearly broke out over bowling underarm... You have to love it:)

WE have a tourist slogan.... MElbourne...... Its not ALWAYS raining..... We have a better night life and coffee culture... Also our bridge is longer!

We have shown the world multi cultralism can work we stuff up occasionally but on the whole its all good. Especially in terms of food...

Keshi you should be a tourist attraction, i am sure there is a joke about scaling the peaks of keshi but i dont want to get slapped:)

India gave birth to many religions
We have had a woman PM in Indira Gandhi
a woman President now
a cathholic Head of the Congress party in Sonia Gandhi an Italian

USA has not had a black Prez till date
Ambedkar (Harijan) a dalit wrote the Constitution of India

I am an alien of sorts (born in Goa under portuguese rule)

the Indian Govt welcomed me and made me a citizen
allowed me to profess and propagate my religion

the Parsis refugees, from Persia (IRAN) were also welcomed

India has had the most number of terror victims, second only to IRAQ

but we are not scared
we believe in Kismet - destiny

we will go when we have to go

we invented YOGA and vegetarianism and the number zero when the americans were riding hosses and chasing cows

NRIs are now in NASA, Silicon valley and some are heading top MNCs such as COKE and PEPSI

we have the largest number of CMM Level 5 cos in India

the IIT brand is bigger than MIT
