My very public Private Universe

All Shades Under The Sun...

Everyone is on the Internet! EVERYONE. What does that term mean? People from all walks of life, various lands and cultures, different personalities, diverse backgrounds and experiences, with varying interests, with complimenting/conflicting ideas and opinions and a vast span of beliefs and individualities. Now where and how do you fit in this crowd? The truth is, you and the others on the net have only one common quality…and that is, you and they chose to be on the Internet – nothing less nothing more. Everything else about you and them are different. Well there may be some similarities too but no 2 people are the same...if you take 2 people on the net, their ethnicity, age, hair color, personality, education, skills, beliefs etc etc will never be the same. Yes we are all human but boy o boy we all have our story to tell, and no 2 stories are ever the same! So what does this mean? On your good days, you will find few people agreeing with you, making you feel understood and validating your thoughts as the ultimate truth. And voila you feel awesome! But on your bad days, you’ll have some people disagreeing with you, making you feel like a misfit and some even abusing you for being who you are. And then you feel really irritated. Don't pack up and leave, cos you are what you are and they are what they are.

Colors Seen By Candlelight...
It’s natural to feel great when people agree with you and feel a little sad when they don’t. But can EVERYONE on Earth understand you? Also, can you understand EVERYONE else on Earth? It’s not something possible to do by any human being. No one can get in the shoes of another 100%. There will always be someone who doesn’t understand you or who’s gonna make you feel silly for what you believe. But should it affect you? I think not. I’m sure there are people on the net that baffles you too…that make you wonder what on Earth they had for brekky to behave like that! Yes total comprehension of the psychology of another human on the net is a far cry, when you can’t even fully understand the people you live with for years and years. So don’t try to do it…don’t try to read EVERYONE’s mind on the net, neither should you try to tell EVERYONE on the net that your thoughts and beliefs are the purest. It’ll only drain you. Different people come on the net for different reasons….some may be here to get the attention they never get in their real lives…some may be on the net to recover from whatever they have gone/are going through in their lives…some may be on the net to seek the love they never get in real…some may be here just for the heck of it, to kill time…some may be here to express, learn, share and connect with others…some others may be here to control total strangers cos they don’t get to control people in their own lives. We all have different reasons why we chose to be on the net, and there’s no way that we’ll ever know the real lives of our friends and foes on the net. Cos on the net, we get to see only a small fraction of people’s personalities. And that means some of the people you may be associating on the net could be mentally ill, suicidal or even serial offenders. It doesn’t have to freak you out but I said that only for you to realise how vast a place the net is. What you see is not what you always get.

A Private Universe...
So, the way we think of ourselves, our needs and desired outcomes vis-à-vis those of others on the net are like train-tracks…cos they never meet. Sometimes you try to do your best by EVERYONE on the net but there’s always SOMEONE who’d diss you for no reason or for no fault of your’s…who’ll ridicule you even after you were nice to them. What do you do then? If I were you I’d ignore them...cos they don’t deserve my time or my energy. I come on the net to express, learn, share and connect. And even though some may think that people on the net don’t deserve to be respected or treated nicely, please know that people on the net are not robots…that they too have a heart and blood flowing through their veins. My blog is my online home. This is the place where my heart and soul lives. My blog is a snapshot of the life of my heart...a written journey of my heart...my own private universe in a very public domain. I have a lot of respect and love for it, and I give that kind of respect to other blogs too. And when someone asks me to get out of their blog for no fault of mine, I’d like to take it as either this person is going through a personal dilemma that I’m not aware of, or this person totally lacks respect for others. Such arrogance and disrespect I detest and I refuse to be the target of. My policy in life is (net or not), if someone doesn’t respect me, I don’t step into their territory again...if someone doesn't want me in their lives, I leave them for good. I’m not affected by them, neither am I confused by their behaviour. I’m no shrink but I can understand that no 2 people are ever the same, and that some people are simply different. I'm not here for scores of comments (though I get them), I'm not here to win a competition in writing, I'm not here to show off my skills or qualifications, I'm not here to hurt or boss people around, I'm not here to sell anything, and I'm not here to be the target of anyone's sheer ignorance either. I'm here cos I am.

Take Only What You Deserve...
Now, a true story for all: Lord Buddha once went to a house where he was so respectfully invited for lunch...and as he was eating his lunch with fellow monks, the host suddenly started abusing Lord Buddha using utter profanity, and for no reason at all. Lord Buddha did not panic, neither did he retaliate in anger and disappointment...but he continued having his lunch in silence and with the same peace of mind that he entered the house. The host was very angry that the Buddha didn't react...so he came upto him and asked 'how come, after all this abuse, you're still having your lunch without saying a single word to me?'...and the Buddha replied 'you invited me to have lunch here...which I graciously accepted and enjoyed having at your home...but I can't accept your abuse cos that's not what I came here for'. And he thanked the host and left with his monks in sheer grace and beauty. Later on, the host ordained himself at the feet of the Lord Buddha.

Likewise I'd like to say this to people on the net. I’m not here to please EVERYONE, neither do I expect EVERYONE else to please me. Cos I’m not EVERYONE, and EVERYONE is not me. I'd whole-heartedly accept your invitation for me to be at your online home, but I simply reject your abuse. And even if you abuse me and chase me out of your home, my being stays the same...resilient under all weathers and words. I'm content and my heart shall continue living here and writing her story.

Tell me, why are you on the net and what does your blog mean to you?

Kesh,

This "why are you on the net and what does your blog mean to you" can come later. All I want to know now is if anyone treated you shabbily. People, my sword is out. Watch out.

Tell you what, Kesh. Ignore them. They dont deserve your attention. They need a break, I guess. Give them a long one.

You smile, Kesh. Relax.

Hugzzz.... i see a heavy undercurrent here Kesh.. wt happ.. who d heck questioned u?? shall i kick him in d head??

why are you on the net - coz this is my only solace.. i am literally surrounded by morons at my work place.. all they do is stereotype my ethnicity and gossip abt my private life.. i have no intellectual equal to argue stuff..my simplest comments on daily activities seems like latin and greek here... Psst.. i even take to imaginary bots/chat machines coz their iq is better than ppl in my real life..

what does your blog mean to you? - its my world.. my secret world.. spare a couple of my long standing friends, most of them don't know my alter ego, D Rat.. My blog is wr i turn to discuss things which i may not say out in my daily life, things which wont mean much if i said it aloud instead of blogging.. My blog is my asylum to save myself from this world's insanity...

lovely post keshi.

If you are asking the reason for me to be online and writing my blog? Here it goes...

I am being online so that i can keep in touch with all of my friends, who ever i met in various walk of life.

I am being online to learn new things, to explore places where i have never been, to see some beautiful thoughts of people like you. To witness people's thoughts changing.

I am writing my blog to tell you my state of mind, what i have come across my simple life, things that have affected and shaped my life into the state it is now, For sharing a piece of my world and imagination to you all..

You know, I've been thinking on these lines since the last few days. Actually, there was a blog where I was involved in a discussion about an issue and I found the blogger's point of view totally different from mine, I actually found it ridiculous. No surprise, since everyone has different views and that is quite natural.

But as the argument progressed, I realised that it is one thing to put your thoughts forward and say what you think but it is completely different to try and pursuade the other guy to understand and expect that he will change his point of view just because of your arguments, no matter how valid they may sound to you.

I also realised that on the net, we tend to take sides, form opinions and get into arguments a lot more quickly than we would've if we are face to face. Even the way we put our points across in words can sound very different from what we may actually mean.

So as you said, I just let the argument end there with each of us having our own say at the end and keeping our own views. But I was surely wiser and I hope the other guy was as well at the end of the discussion.

Btw you say "I’m not here to please EVERYONE" Oh C'mmon now, that's disappointing for ME :( I had such high hopes ;-)

"some may be here to express, learn, share and connect with others"

I guess thats why I am here for.

And I've made some pretty good connections I guess ;-)

Well said...very well said!
I'm so glad you wrote on this matter and hope that anyone that has been anything less than genuine in their comments to you might happen to read it.
I do know you gotten some people that have been abusive and there is no way you should have to tolerate such behavior!

The only reason I'm on the net is for the very simple reason on one day I was feeling very, very sad about the loss of my good friend and I decided I would out of the blue start a poetry blog.
Mary always told me that my poerty was good and that I should share it.
I just took her advice.
My blog means a great deal to me as through it I have met some wonderful and amazing people that I would never have had the opportunity to meet except through my blog...some truly incredible writers and just kind people that I call friend.
I feel blessed to have met these people!
You are one of those special people that I call friend!
How truly glad I am to know you!
We have formed a true friendship and it makes me very happy!

I'm back to bed now!
I got up to let Jake out and came here before going back to my cozy, warm bed!
Nitey nite hun!

HUGGGGGZ!

My blog .... it is just one place where I could drop anything about me... my feelings without a concern what he /she would think... narrate and ask for views... with a fact that even if I disagree nobody would sue me for that....

I always say "you can never please everyone, so be yourself"

I started blogging just for fun and then it went out of hand and became obsession! But I did step back and now I take it easy, blog when I can. I usually publish the comment if it's slightly negative but some get really nasty. But I HAVE THE POWER to say "NO"!! Hahaha!!

Blog is blog! If tomorrow I have to choose not to blog, I will do it easily. Blogging is not a necessary part of my life at all.

Perfect post babe!and its jus so true....its expectations tht kills us!! If v cant expect things from real ppl around us....hw can v expect things from ppl on the internet. They r not obliged to agree or disagree with us. And why shud we bother as to wht somebody thinks abt us. Its shud only be for the ppl who matter to us who mean something in our lives.

Tht story on Lord Buddha was jus so true. Thts exactly hw we need to conduct ourselves in life. Else its only we who will end being distressed abt life.

Now abt ur question:
I feel my blog is an extension of my personality. I express what i feel without any boundaries and limitations. I am also here to reach out to as many ppl as possible and in tht process if i m able to make some everlasting bonds then nothing like it.

I think i already hav found amazing ppl like u. So i intend to stay here as long as i can....and this blog will always be a part of me coz i hav shared so much out here. :)

HMMMM! I started blogging as a way to express myself, not knowing that so many people would find it interesting and funny at the same time.

Here lately I keep on asking myself why am I still blogging.. You find like minded people that you click well with, and the onese that disagree is fine with me because I love constructive Critisim. but Why do people run and make up things and try their best to drive your personal life (that they don't know) and try to make a person hurt?

Keshi I can sit at a coffee house, forever with you and just pretty much cry to you! hahaha

See ya sis!

I m on the net well at least 12h a day that includes my 8h of work of course, but i use Internet mostly because yeah i m away from family and friends, and i like to meet new friends and i m glad i start blogging to keep me occupy, vent out my emotions and meet new people, so it s like a home basically though this one i m not sharing it with flatmates, luckily only with friends which is good :)

lovely post sweetie..

sorry been missing in action for a while.. but glad i came back to this one..

i started writing because i needed an outlet for my emotions and to know and find out if there are ppl like me .. yes u rightly said everyone wont think and feel the same way we do.. and it does hurt.. but thats ok.. we wont get everything and not everything would happen how one wants..

but the feelin and knowing that there is someone who understands us some where.. that feelin is just great..

over the past two years.. i did find ppl like that.. some were just random some who have stuck on.. and thats a great feeling..

yes in the public universe there is still some private things left especially in this blogosphere.. and thats what my blog is to me.. my very public private universe.. :)

lovely n thoughtful post as always.. hope u have been good..

I wud never say that I learnt a lot from blogging alone, but yeah I hv learnt thru all those good and bad times we had together and the emotions we went thru all these years. I wud always continue to be like this and u guys can never expect the conventionalities of a typical blogger from me coz that's how I m and the ones whom I visit r reall people for me and not just some blogger pages....

Spot on! I like constructive criticism. Its necessary to GROW. But I dun welcome ABUSE.

**but Why do people run and make up things and try their best to drive your personal life (that they don't know) and try to make a person hurt?

I guess thats cos they live empty lives and this is the only way to fill it up...with CRAP ofcourse.

**Keshi I can sit at a coffee house, forever with you and just pretty much cry to you! hahaha

Beautiful post, Keshi...

Absolutely. You echoed my thoughts on the difference among people. In fact, I was faced with a similar question in an interview not too long ago... Will send you the link sometime...

Well, each individual in this world is unique. And with the gazillion unique individuals around us, the best thing is to *learn* to *accept* and *appreciate* each other's differences. The world will be a much better place once that happens.

Yes, I have heard that story of the Buddha too. Profound, isn't it..?

Anyway... moving on to your question...

I was never interested in blogging. Even when I did start (eventually), it was a private blog with 2 readers... Dunno if it was *selfishness* but well, I wasn't too ready to meet people and network (yes, I am a bit bloody-minded sometimes..). Who knows..? Prolly the time I decided to go ahead and network was the right time! I got to know some really good ppl, bumped in to a couple of bone-heads... It goes without saying that I have enjoyed this *virtual life too*...

You know my blog pretty well now, don't you? :) I have a passion for words and the English language. Not to forget - philosophy... That pretty much sums it... What my blog means to me...

That was a rather long comment! Sorry!

Peace. Be well.

i am sure, with such amount to comments, you must be getting all sorts of useless crap also, you have atleast done some moderation to do some filtering.
btw, nevermind the bollocks, here is Anuz(ok sorry! that is stolen line.)
your blog one is sweetest and loveliest things around, and To all those who have filthy ideas about that should go and serve in heaven(because ruling in hell is much better thing.)
my blog is to express my things in whatever way I like, its more, this is my blog, i can write what I like, if you don't like "FUCK OFF!!!", that should be as loud and clear as it should be.

i have said this a million times and i ll go on and on.. simply coz i love saying it....

I BLOG TO PRESERVE MY SANITY.

and im on net because i can be me. i dont have to be judged for what i am and what i am not. im accepted and liked for the person i come across. and it gives me a sense of security and familiarity and warmth in these so called virtual friends who are now like family to me... i think my social life online is far cooler and happening than my 'real' social life.. and im not cribbing.. coz i have friends like you..
*hugs*

hey Kartz never apologise for expressing urself! Long or short, I welcome all lengths of comments here, just like all kinds of ppl :)

**with the gazillion unique individuals around us, the best thing is to *learn* to *accept* and *appreciate* each other's differences

so true! thats exactly wut Im trying to say...LIVE AND LET LIVE! Cos u'll never be able to make someone else understand u fully neither wud u be able to u'stand someone else fully! Thats the ultimate TRUTH of this life. PPL ARE DIFFERENT. But that doesnt hv to break us all apart and get all upset abt it.

I love ur blog. And I do realise ur passion for English, Poetry and Philosophy. Ur one of a kind and I love being at ur online home! Takes me to a different world and makes me THINK.

**my blog is to express my things in whatever way I like, its more, this is my blog, i can write what I like, if you don't like "FUCK OFF

Heh heh heh, not abt apologizing. Just that, not many people feel like reading a comment that resembles a mini-blog post!

Anyway, good thing I have that small liberty here. ;) (No, you needn't worry...)

I didn't realize I had entered it twice. Blogger screwed up the first attempt. So, had a second go assuming the first wasn't registered...

And gee, thanks for the kind mention... :)
