Europe and Aus has no detah penalty and trust me, these countries have less crime compared to all those countires that boost their image by killing ppl. So it's really not a deterrent. Last time we have a death penalty in India was when a 20 something guy raped and killed and innocent girl may be of 14-15. Mass opinion showed over 80% people were in favor of the penalty.I personally believe that this punishment should be reserved for henious crimes committed & thats how indian judicial system uses this punishment. Personally speaking I am not in favor of completely removing this as form of punishment. It should always remain there as deterrent.Manish Kumarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10739848141759842115noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8476566.post-1133786490193146882005-12-05T23:41:00.000+11:002005-12-05T23:41:00.000+11:00Some more words.....(my, i'm getting long-winded)I...Some more words.....(my, i'm getting long-winded)

I was pretty ambivalent abt this case. A sin is not done just by words or hands...it can also be committed by a cruel thought. You may not have killed anyone else, but to think it's OK TO KILL someone (even if he/she is a violent criminal) is equivalent to the act of killing itself...dun get me wrong - why I think so is becos, we think before we speak....and we think before we act. So if u think u want to kill, then u will do so too...

Fo those who said that Salvation is abt having a good conscience...if u thought that death penalty is still good, then ur conscience needs to be reviewed...conscience is sense of right and wrong. And if u think it's ok to kill someone, is it good conscience, cos is it good to kill someone no matter what?

Those who thought Karma was the Salvation path...and if u thought that Killing is good, then is that good Karma? Cos good Karma by all 3 avenues of thought, word and deed must be maintained. So if a killing thought sprouted in ur hearts, that's almost equivalent to killing someone by ur own hands...

Im not in any way trying to say that those who did not support the death penalty r the best ppl on Earth with the right Salvation path etc. They may be bad/weak in other areas of life, I dunno...

What I intend to tell u here is that I'm surprised that those who came very close to death and knew what it is to fear death, still support another man's violent death. Our miseries in life, our tests and trials should make us better ppl in thoughts, words and deeds...not make us more vengeful and cruel. Grow some compassion and reap the fruits of Love and Forgiveness...u will see the difference...and u will never fear death :)

Thanks all!
Keshi.Keshihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17147250771662427208noreply@blogger.com
