The Cellular Album

Watercolor memories of a school uniform, a heavy bag and tennis-shoes...reminiscences of bus rides full of chatter and giggles...fading aroma of home-made lemon-cake and strawberry ice cream...distant sounds of splashes in the pool and screams of jolly times...fond recollections of daddy coming home with Christmas presents...a black and white slide-show of dancing stupid to Locomotion...heart-warming memoirs of cousins coming over for holidays...far-away blazes of collecting sea shells in the beach...graying flashes of taking puppy Ginger to the vet...blurred snapshots of 12hr train rides to Granma's place...flickering flashbacks of running around her backyard and throwing stones at juicy mangoes...a soothing re-capture of bathing from a natural well, full of pure and cool water...vague sparks of walking down to the little stream to watch the fishes...evoked instances of catching little red birds and chasing after yellow butterflies...a fading picture of drinking Granma's medicine and fainting creating panic...unclear visions of playing crazy in the paddy fields so green...far-away memories of Granma's smiles that filled my senses...slowly dissolving flashes of playing hopscotch and getting angry with friends...funny memoirs of getting together the next day and climbing trees...happy recollections of buying new books and shoes for a new term of school, feeling so excited...a dimming flicker of losing a tooth and throwing it to the fairy...an old photo beaming toothless in a heavily-frilled dress...a distant flicker of a bunny-shaped birthday cake with pink wiggly candles...faded and stained photographs of people that used to be...of smiles worth more than the world...of pets that filled my lonely days...of moments that will never be again...of emotions that can never be replaced...of places I long to go back to but most likely wont...of times that I can recall but will never be able to live back in..of those precious flashes from the past so dear to my heart...now they remain in the priceless album called my Memory...so do you remember?

  3. beautiful post.

memories are what make us, us.
i always thought that one of the horrible things about death is that memories of people will be lost forever when they die.
as 'batty' in film 'blade runner' says when one dies,
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

as long as one's memory (not to be confused with others' memory about oneself) lasts, one lives.

  18. During my early school days when i was kid, i wanted to feel like a grown up and didn't liked any one coming to pick-me up from the bus stop till home. So I used to get angry on anyone coming to pick me up saying that I am big now and I can reach home alone on my own. Its funny to remember my such behaviour :).

    Aelee hows ya?

**Memories are the most beautiful thing a human soul can create.

    I think so too...

**Especially when it is through the eyes of a young girl looking back, and reflecting all that is wonderlous and care free..

yes..where r the days when we didnt have to worry abt anything...when life was all a road filled with candy and cake :)

**a time of innocence and splendor running free in one's mind is the gift of;things long past that are embedded from the mirror of heaven to your hearts.

thats a beauuuuutiful way to express it...THANK U Aelee!

    ~~Sudarshan

**Sadly, I know children that hardly realize what a hen is.

Goshh thats really sad! When I was little I used to run ard with hens n lil yellow chicks in my Granma's backyard. Also my dad used to be an avid animal-lover...so we had a farm of various pets..lol! U name it, we had it...even goats n a lil pig :):)

**Those who don't live in the country side think that the steak they find in the supermarket was borne like that...

thats doing injustice to childhood! Well I guess u n I r lucky that we had some country exp when we were kids...amazing how some kids these days dun even know what a real pig looks like except for the ham on their bread!

**Thanx for your comment in my blog, I'll try to convince myself of your words! ^-^

they were not just words..I meant it :) U looked goreous sweety...u really did!

    ~~Queen_Bee

    heyyy sweety!

**I wonder if age affects the way we look back at all the memories.

Im not an oldie yet lol but I still cherish my chidlhood so much...teh memories etc and it only seems to grow each year...

**Would they still be beautiful and bring sweetness to our hearts, or will we be sad and can't bear to part with any of them?

well we really cant dwell on em as they r the past events, but we must always rem em and cherish em forever...cos it's those events that has made us who we r today...

    ~~Aizwaikcha

    heyyy Aizwaikcha! :)

    ~~Phoenix

    heyy mate!

**Makes me long for a time when life was so much simpler...when I could just be a child. No concept of time, and all the days ran into each other.

aww so true...it was a time when I didnt know what 'worry' or 'pain' meant..they were not in my vocabulary at all...but look at me now!

    ~~Desperado

**though im not too old ...just 21 ;)...but still tht childhood, tht care free attitude seems so distant....

isnt that weird...I mean the moment u leave school u feel like ur childhood was so far away...

**when i was a child, i wanted to grow up
    n now i wanna go back there...hmmm

    lol I know the feeling...

**but you see i was gud boy...never hit my mom...only my elder sis ;)...hehe..n now i laugh thinkin of my stupidity for d reasons i gave to mom of fighting wid her ..:)

It’s the best part of life...where bitterness counted as sweetness....where everything goes right even the mistake.....where tension has nothing do with u.....where ur lively smile tends to cut off other depression and ur tears speaks out everything....
