Color Of Tears

Baghdad - The mother of Samah Hussein grieves over the body at a Baghdad morgue. The boy was among 12 people reportedly killed by a suicide car bombing outside the U.S. military's Camp Cuervo. (Photo by Samir Mizban, June 13, 2004. A Pulitzer Prize winning photo)

Tears are colorblind. Love knows no country or race. Bonds are universal. Pain is inevitable. Children are precious. All his work is done, yet so much undone. This mother and son is every mother and son. Death don't choose but war does. Parting is difficult. Silence is deafening. Can someone hear her soft but deep sobs? Why How When Where? Ultimate price for being innocent. Race and religion draw borders. Vengeance mars humanity. Love never kills and Love never dies. So why don't we ever give Love a chance?

Today I dedicate one of my fav songs to this unknown child...I'm sorry this happened to you Samah but know that I'm thinking of you...and I CARE.

  2. Oh Keshi!
That picture of the grieving mother is so heartbreaking!
When I see a picture like this I think about all those innocent people that have lost their lives through the war and suicide car bombings.

May dear Samah rest in peace!
And may his memory always be a blessing to his mother.
I feel her grief when I see this picture....it's so very sad!
I know how much you care Keshi!
    I do too!

    Hugs dear Keshi!

  3. Hi Keshi

Very sad indeed. War is a waste of life.

This post has a tearful twist of irony, and you capped it with Sweet Child O' Mine by Guns N Roses.

    Very good choice.

    Hugs

  6. I am reminded of a scene from Lord of the Rings 2 which struck me as so true. The mad King, after being restored by Gandalf said while visiting the grave of his son, "no parent should ever have to bury their children".

This is just so wrong on many levels.

  7. sad stuff really. someone falls a victim to such lame acts.

feel sorry for the kids over and beyond.

  8. what a waste.
a world caught between a lot blidfolded by power and money, and another with religion.
and together, they kill the innocent.

  10. it is so painful to see things like this happening around us!

and yes, it could be any mother and son! in most cases we realize the pain of a situation only when it knocks our door...

your thought will make a big difference to that mother Keshi, and also of all the people who take a minute to read this blog and express there views as well!

  11. sucks to have anyone die, especially a child.

freedom to me means being able to go out without fear, being able to make my own decisions without being killed or burned, being able to stand up for my self without being persecuted...
being able to be a girl and be educated and most of all....
being able to say that if i could support my self that i could be the bread winner ... i could make money and support my family

u have a golden heart kesh...

Great post Keshi. You know it has made me wonder before about these people. They give so much bull about religion but yet fail to do the simplest thing called recognizing and practicing the language of love. Thats when mishaps happen. When the basic steps were not taken noticed of.

    How heartbreaking for the family.

*Huggiz Keshi* I love that song alot!! OH Sweet Child of Mine..:D

  17. While the world talks of global economy and shrinking borders, this is the reality that is being ignored.

Shame that in todays world policies we still can't resolve the basic issues and it's the innocent people who bear the brunt of it all, while the policy makers trot around with their bunch of bodyguards.

    Aditi, please read some history.
**wasn't warfare in the old days better.
WTF!!! Ghengis Khan, Roman Empire, Aztec blood sacrifices, the First Emperor of China, African tribal wars, Persian Empire, Alexander...
In the old days, conquered children were enslaved or slaughtered. Millions of them.

As for people who murder children in the name of their god, they are the devil incarnate. As was Saddam, for gassing the Kurdish children of Halabja. As are the people who murder women for "honour"...

Sorry, Keshi, I'm a bit wound up after Aditi's comment. I'll go now.

  44. Keshi, tears are indeed colour blind for they dont have sight, then can just be felt ....

My first impression of real war (beyond books) was the Gulf War, however at that time I understood nothing beyond some of the concerns tht my family used to discuss on the dinner table ....

The first time that I understood wht actually war means was the 9/11 attack ..... And ever since then I remembered my opening statement in one of the essays that I had written in inter-school competition at the time of Gulf War - "War and destruction means the same, look at it from any side of the prism and you will find that it is a coin with two phase of a single soul" ....

THERE IS NEVER A GAIN IN ANY KIND OF WAR, its an illusion and fallacy, but no one perhaps realises it ...... Wars of any kind even if it fought for mankind has the potential impact of loss of lives and brining sorrow .... if there is one winner it is the death .... life has no chance

The irony Keshi is that though human civilization is so called the most evolved civilization, they are the only ones who kill their own species .... God perhaps designed humans in a very inhumane way ....

I cannot but afford my sympathies and heartfelt condolescence to Samah's family

    Alok

    Quote from Mother Teresa:
"Let us not use bombs and guns to
overcome the world. Let us use love and compassion. Peace begins with a smile. Smile five times a day at someone you don't really want to smile at all. Do it for peace. Let us radiate the peace of God and so light His light and extinguish in the world and and in the hearts of all men all hatred and love for power. Smile at one another. It is not always easy.

God loves the world through you and me. Are we that love and that compassion? Christ came to be his Father's compassion. God is loving the world through you and and through me and through all those who are His love and compassion in the world."

  73. in my humble opinion it is just so absolutely fuc#ed up in the extreme that iraqis are killing iraqis; i just can not in any way comprehend this. and the fact that beautiful iraqi kids are thus getting killed every day, is even more fuc#ed and totally incomprehensible and destructive. i only need to see or read about images and stories such as this, to realise how very lucky i am to be here and not there. so thanx keshi for reminding me of that much.

  75. The innocent are the ones that pay in any war. I have read in several sources that the "coallition forces" death toll in Iraq is around 4,000 soldiers. The Iraqi citizen death toll is well over 70,000 if not an awful lot more. The numbers keep changing on a daily basis but you can surely see the obvious ... almost 20 innocent victims for every soldier death.

Yep ... they certainly are setting the Iraqi citizens free ... if there are any left alive

  76. George I agree....

  81. , guerilla war fare,

the US Army did not have the guts to take on the Japanese soldiers who refused to surrender during WW II

so the Dirty bomb was used on the civilian population in Hiroshima and Nagasaki

the freedom fighters in Palestine and Iraq dont have hi-tech weaponry like the US

so they engage in Hara Kiri like the japanese did in WW II

    Hara Kiri - suicide bombers
    is the same thing

    its guerilla war fare

    ,

lets try to focus on root causes of war

    and prevent wars in future
League of Nations was formed after WWI

    but we had WWII

UNO will not prevent WW III
as long as we have BUSH (idiots in power)who is planning to attack IRAN now

  103. Children are not precious to everyone. The suicide bomber that did this does not have a shred of humanity in him. All the terrorists have is hate. That is why it is easy to distinguish the good guys from the bad guys in this War. The good guys look at this scene, and there is a tear in their eyes ... the bad guys (terrorists) look at this scene as a means to an end.
