A Knight's Tale

Aussie actor Heath Ledger is dead! I woke up to the very sad news this morning and was totally traumatized as I heard it on Sky News when I was buying my coffee on my way to work. Apparently Heath was surrounded by some pills, and at this stage the Police thinks it's a drug overdose (no one knows the exact cause of death yet). I can't believe it and I won't for a while. He was only 28 and what a fine actor he was! I don't need to give you all any intro to this brilliant young actor who had a great future ahead of him. Why does this happen? Fame, Money, Loneliness, Work Pressure, High Expectations etc etc? I don't have any answers...no one will ever know the truth either.

Heath you were a legend mate...I'm sorry your life had to end this way. But the brief period you were on this Earth, you impressed us with your magnificent work and career - you reached your dreams and goals but it all ended far too soon. Life is short but it's so very sad to learn it was shorter for someone like you. Thank you for the great movies! RIP Heath, we love ya!

How uncertain can life be...this only proves that even the seemingly mightiest and happiest people may be spending lonely and unhappy lives in real...they may be seeking happiness through means that are so wrong and fatal. Fame/money/drugs/sex/talent can't buy anyone love and happiness. Inner happiness cannot be developed by outer sources. I hope Heath's life and death would inspire people out there to reach out to someone at their darkest moments, even if they think that they can handle it by themselves...handle it by means that can't really help them. No matter how lonely we may think we are, there's always 'someone' who'd understand...you may be lonely but you're not alone. So don't seek solace through wrong means, seek it by talking to someone or even to a tree or to an angel or to a lake. There's amazing qualities in nature that can make you feel truly peaceful. Take care of yourselves folks!

it pours on my life
this freezing rain soaks through me
lonely, not alone.
--by Stephanie Shimerdla

This song is dedicated to Heath's sparkling memory. So long mate, it's all over now...whatever the cause of your DEATH was, I respect ya and admire you for the way you lived your LIFE. Go with the angels now, we'll be missing ya!

  5. Hi swt hrt
I just knew even before I came here to your blog, you would have a post on Keith Ledger, because you are so caring and sweet!
It's so very sad about him.
I did not hear about his death till I was on my way home from work (about 45 mins ago)
I too was very shocked and saddened!
He was such a wonderful talented actor!

** No matter how lonely we think we are, there's always someone who'd understand...
you may be lonely but you're not alone.**
That is so very true, Keshi!
He must have been going thru a lot and never turned to anyone for help!
If only he had done so, he might be alive!

I am very glad I have such a special friend in you!
It was a special day when I came to ur blog and met Keshi...the angel!
And, darlin'...I'm so happy right now, as I'm wearing the earrings you sent to me!
( my huuby called me at work, and told me I got ur pkg in the mail, and I was soooo excited and cud not wait to get home, and open ur pkg!)
    I love them so much
THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!
    You are too kind!
Silver and crystal....they shine so much!
Barcs must be a beautiful jewellery store there in Aust.
And, the little note you sent to me....I'll treasure it always...like I do the earrings!

You are one in a million, Keshi!
You could not have given me anything that I would have loved more!
You just made my day so very special!!!!

And, now I'm going to dance on my beautiful new carpet that we had put in the house today.
    It's so plush and lovely!
My house looks so gorgeous with the new carpet!
Keshi, come by and do the moon-walk on it! LOL!

The two men that installed the carpet were here all day...from 8:30 A.M till almost 5:30 P.M.
They did a wonderful job! I know they were just soooo tired! Before I went to work, I left a generous tip with my hubby to give to them for the great work they did!
He said they had a big smile on their faces when he gave them the money!
    That made me happy!!!

Well. dear I'm going to say bye for now!
    Very tired right now!
    Sending you love and HUGGGGGGGGGZ!
    God bless you...always!

I felt the same when i read Chris Benoit and his family were found dead, later it was speculated that Benoit choked his wife and son and later on committed suicide. I dont want to believe that for me he was a fine human being and a good entertainer...

  19. True Ashu..

In Ledger's case, we dunno if it's a Suicide or not, but it's pretty sad that he died alone...and one was ard to take care of him...apparently he was also suffering from Pneumonia at the time of this death.

    -----------------------------------

    heyy Southy!

I heard abt Chris Benoit...even if it was a Murder-Suicide, it doesnt matter how he DIED. What matters is how he LIVED. Cos death happens only in a minute or 2, whereas LIFE happens over a longer period and that's what a person should be respected for...for HOW he LIVED.

  26. Hi Keshi

You are very right about actors being like friends--sometimes even family.

Here's a short list of some of the actors who died at a young age through the years.

Actors who have died young (Drug related)

-River Phoenix died of drug-induced heart failure in 1993 at the age of 23

-The star of The Blues Brothers, John Belushi, died in 1982 aged 33

-Sixties “it girl” Edie Sedgwick, who featured in several Andy Warhol films, died in 1971 at the age of 28

Other Hollywood actors who died at a young age:

    - Iconic film actor James Byron Dean died at age 24 in a head-on car crash in 1955.

    - Martial arts expert and film star Bruce Lee died aged 32 of a cerebral oedema in 1973. His son Brandon, who starred in The Crow, was shot dead at the age of 28 in an accident while filming on a movie set.

    - In 1925 Italian actor and “Latin Lover” Rudolph Valentino died aged 31 not long after collapsing with a perforated ulcer at the Hotel Ambassador in New York.

Other actors who died young include Jayne Mansfield (34), Marilyn Monroe (36),
Natalie Wood (43) and Montgomery Clift (45).

Heath's death has left me speechless. Such a waste.

  89. Heard this on the news this afternoon. You should read the biography of Sharon Osbourne and Kurt Cobain if you haven't done so already. Gives an insight into the life of these people.

And hey such things aren't just limited to these celebs, there are lot more who end their lives on reasons best known to them. It's quite sad to see/hear their stories.

Fame/money/sex/blah blah blah are just the masks, eventually every individual seeks for that elusive thing, that thing that makes one truly happy.

    I shut up now!!

  91. It's extremely sad. It's not often you can say that a person led such a full life at his age, but he really did. Mixing and matching pills is a no no. I'd compare him to Anna Nicole but that would only be insulting. Truth be told, this reminds me a lot of River Phoenix. Both of them died young, and very talented.

  92. Yeah, that was saddening news.

I just finished writing a tribute post to Heath. I did not approach the subject in the way most people might.

I also think you'll find the song interesting.

As of writing this comment, police think there might be evidence of drug use. Tox tests can take up to 10 weeks to confirm any found evidence. It was not a suicide.

  98. hey Jono tnxx!

I know abt Kurt Cobain..he was a junkie (tho I love him ALOT) and openly too. But Heath wasnt like that. He was the good ol Aussie bloke doin well in Hollywood but one who always had his feet on the ground. He was never troubled like Kurt was. That's why this is a massive SHOCK to many.

We see Spears, Lohan, Winehouse going crazy with the hight life but we never saw Heath in such news...thats why everyone is so shocked.

**Fame/money/sex/blah blah blah are just the masks, eventually every individual seeks for that elusive thing, that thing that makes one truly happy.

I love wut u said here. TY!

  109. yeah...life is stragne..and sometmes it throws up such things in your face..that u get stumped...the death of such a young and vivacious person like heath reminds me of one of my friend's question to god when one of our mutual friends died....he asked god....why god there are so many old people in this world..and you choose such a young person to take away from this world.....well..he is still waiting for the answer....

  113. You are spot on that most people who commit suicide are actually highly intelligent. Intelligence doesn't have anything to do with this decision. Mood disorders are very complex. There are some physical factors, even genetic predispositions, but much of it has to do with events that happen early on. Almost as if one becomes "used to" being depressed. And one cannot just pull oneself up by the boot-straps and "stop it."
Thank you for pointing out that suicide is not a matter of intelligence. As my own wise child said "it's a foolish decision but not a stupid decision. Smart people can make foolish decisions too."
Some folks that I loved very much have ended their life via suicide. It makes me very upset when ignorant people say that those who did this are "stupid." They were troubled. Not stupid.
    Sorry for the rant!

    ReplyDelete
  114. no worries Judge!

I've always known that ppl who commit suicide r not cowards or idiots, as some ppl claim em to be. Its so very easy for ppl outside the 'problem' to point fingers at others. Its so very easy. But for the person who's 'troubled', suicide is the only way out of their misery..it's the only meaningful thing at the time.

**it's a foolish decision but not a stupid decision

I agree. Its just a matter of individual situations...no one can fully judge it and label it. I hate it when ppl do that..it's so not fair.

I know all this cos I hv had some very smart ppl in my life who hv ended their life this way. And I'd never call em 'stupid'. NEVER. Cos I know how intelligent they were.

    tnxx Judge!
