UPDATE: Please read my friend Vik's post here. I think he did a brilliant job (a much better job) on what I really wanted to convey through my Cricket post. Thanks Vik!
Alot of my Indian friends here weren't very happy about me congratulating the Aussie Cricket team in my last post. Too bad mates, I congratulate whoever who wins. To me, Cricket is simply a game that depends alot on circumstantial luck as well. Shit happens, one team wins, the other one loses...get over it! Anyways, my friend KP even blogged about the issue, addressed to me - read here. So I had to write this post in order to let you all know how I honestly feel about this cricket drama going on in Sydney at the moment, between Australia and India. I have lived in Australia for so long now I call Australia home. But that doesn't mean I blindly support Aussies in any given situation. At the same time, I haven't forgotten my roots. That also doesn't mean I blindly take Sri Lanka/India's side in any given situation. I'm a very fair person and as far as I know, I'm not judgement-impaired, neither am I a white-skin lover for the heck of it (I felt some friends in KP's post thought of me to be a white-skin lover - I really don't care what people think about me anyways, you are free to think whatever about me ok..I'm not bothered at all). I respect EVERY nation for it's QUALITY and ATTITUDE. Not just cos I was born there or have lived there longer and call it home. If Sri Lanka does a bad mistake, I'm not afraid to say it out loud (to be honest, I'm not very impressed about Sri Lankan politicians and the on-going war there anyways...so yeah, I say they are all totally screwed and seems like they love being screwed for years). The Attitude sucks. That's the whole problem behind the on-going conflicts. Anyways, I live in Aus so I know about Aussies much more than most of the Indian people who are screaming right now and calling Aussies racist etc etc. Actually Aussies are not as bad as you think they are. They are pretty friendly people...even alot less racist than some Indians/Sri Lankans are! Trust me when I say that.

Anyways, back to Cricket - Now I know that Indians are very passionate about Cricket as much as Aussies are. But throwing a massive hissy fit over something that's as simple as a match, wasn't very sporty of the Indian team. That's my opinion on this issue. The Indians are threatening to boycott the whole tour?? That's totally extreme. Ok let's say that the umpires were blind, the Aussie team was rude, Harbhajan Singh was racist etc etc. So both teams are at fault right? Now what's the big deal here? Why be so dramatic and drag the scene to eternity ? It's not a good habit. In Sports, many anger-related matters happen on the field and ofcourse some team wins and the other team has to lose. It takes alot of grace to accept defeat than to throw childish fits, that too at an International level. Aussies won...accept it and move on - it's as simple as that. Now if Aussies were a bad team (somehow I believe in their strength and determination, and that they are a TOP team) and if they were unsporty and unfair, and did not deserve to win, then I hope it all comes out in the open soon and that their victory be disqualified. But to throw away a whole tour while appealing for Harbhajan Singh's guilty racial-abuse verdict to be overturned is not a very mature act. If he gets cleared by his appeal, then that's fine, let it happen in due course, but why protest? That's childish. When the Aussie team was in Mumbai last Oct, there were crazy taunts by the Indian cricket fans that abused Symonds throughout all the matches. But I'm glad Aussies played on in India and that they did not throw a tanty or threaten to cancel the tour. That's what true sportsmanship is! Not suspending the whole tour and protesting, cos that's batty to the core. Back in Oct, neither did the Aussie fans turn extreme and abusive towards Indians, as much as Indians seem to be towards Aussies right now (I see alot of name-calling and racial slur against Aussies all over Blogville at the moment - that only proves no one is perfect). If you behave badly, then expect to get some in return. Also, I remember how the Indian cricket fans were trashing their own team when they couldn't get through to WC last time - it was horrible to see how Indians humiliated their own skin. I even told some bloggers that it's so extreme and stupid to embarass your own team just cos they LOST! Now, all of a suddden those same Indians who trashed their team are feeling so patriotic? So it's all about winning is it? :). Grow up people...it's only a game! If this is what the reaction is just for a game of Cricket, then I'm not surprised why there are so many wars in this world and why people are killing each other over trivial things. Extremism of any sorts should never be encouraged. Something wrong may have happened in this series...so let's rectify it and move on, instead of throwing tanties and bringing in racial debates. I was truly disappointed by some friends who brought in the Black/White debate into this. It's so very sad! Respect people for who they are...not for their skin color.
I love all my Indian friends here and I'm not taking Aussie or Indian's side. I believe both the teams are GREAT teams and GREAT to watch (hunk-wise too;-)). I'm just telling you exactly how I feel about this unwarranted drama over something that's supposed to be SPORTY and FUN. C'mon India, chuck the whingy attitude and play on! If Aussies were a bad team and did not deserve the victory, then get them in the next match and show them you don't give up easily and that you are as determined as hell. Sport is not only about winning the game, it's also about having a winning attitude. That's where true victory lives. Great cricketers never hold grudges. We don't want long faces, bring back the fun in Cricket!
And I LOVE AUSTRAAAALYA! I'm not black, I'm not white...I'm human. And I'm treated exactly that way in land Down Under.

You've got a good argument.. i'm neither australian or indian or sri lankan.. and not even a fan of cricket..
i don't take sports so seriously... as you've said.. it's fun... that's it's all about... for the enjoyment... at least that's what it used to be.. maybe for some, it's not just fun anymore... people are killed in some places.. over sports bets...
That was a pretty long post but sadly missed the real issue, Anyway.
tnxx Hammet!
Alot of ppl dunno wut being SPORTY is. Thats why all these dramas happen.
-----------------------------------
Southy wuts the real point in ur opinion then?
I believe I hv written the real point IMO. And that is to stop throwing hissy fits over a game.
Keshi.
I know nothing about Cricket. I don't understand it at all. Not that I've spent any time trying to.
I know passions run deep enough when you are talking about club team, but when they are national teams it's really big. The closest thing we have to that here in the US is college sports where people support the school they attended or the school that represents their state. It can get pretty heated and there are often some bitter feelings towards the other schools.
We all know that we shouldn't let it take over our lives and all that. But, it's hard to be rational when you're so emotionally invested in a team.
Hi Keshi
It's like somewhere after midnight here, and I have just turn into a creature of the dark. We're having the hottest night on record for this time of year. If this weather continues, those GD crickets will be chirping away. In fact I like stepping on them just to hear the sound of their crushing little bodies. Wasn't there a cricket by the name of Jimmy. I likely killed him too. LOL
Cricket is not a Canadian game. I have watched the game, but I don't understand the rules.
LOL
Bev
Jay yeah I u'stand that it can get pretty heated. tnxx u made good sense in ur comment.
All Im saying is that cancelling a whole tour cos of some silly arguments and so-called bad umpiring is not worth it. Its actually leaves a bad mark on the Indian team. I say play...play and show that they r not giving up on this so easily.
Keshi.
haha Bev u and ur cricket-stamping! :):)
Im glas Canadians dun do cricket...cos imagine another team in this mess LOL!
Keshi.
The real point is that did the indians threw fits when they were beaten at MCG? NO. The team, the fans, everybody loved the way the aussie bowlers toiled at the dead pitch at MCG n got the indians out comprehensively. At SCG, it was absolutely horrible, they didnt beat us on our skills, thats our problem...Umpiring was absolutely one-sided thats our problem...Accusing bhajji for racism on statements made by a couple of players who were nowhere close to the issue, thats our problem...and projecting us as sour loosers and racists which we r not is our problem.
It is much more than just loosing or winning a game now which is definitely our opinion now and we r fully entitled to it, just like the aussies r entitled to their so called mental disintegration.
I am totally put off by the spectacle of modern sporting events. The Olympics in Beijing are going to be a HUGE propaganda event for all sorts of advocacy groups....they are going to portray the Chinese regime like the the Nazis when they held the Olympics in '36...just 3 short years before they invaded Poland and started WW2..Hmm.
Anyway on this side of the pond we've had the ((yawn)) steroid scandal in Baseball, Dogfighting in the NFL, everything is out of control. Here in Canada we watched Hockey religiously when we were kids back in the 60s but now MEH..
but back then the same players stayed with their teams for a decade and didn't jump ship to collect bigger paycheques.
Have you ever wondered why we would reward some guy that can kick a ball more than the person that will drag you out of a burning house or fix your broken ankle?
It is just another form, a very dgraded one at that, of Entertainment..not really worth stomping people from other Clubs or Countries over. We are such a warlike species that people lose their minds over f*cking games.
I don't get it. Plus I guarantee that if we allowed athletes to use Steroids in a separate Olympics that NOBODY would watch the other one. NOBODY.
Southy ok...if Aussies treated the Indians that way (even in 1981), why do the Indians tolerate it for so long? Surely the ICC isnt deaf and blind too like u claim the umpires r?
If someone chooses to see as being taunted on racial basis, and not do anything abt it at all for years, then d u expect things to change?
Somehow I believe this was a combination of circumstantial errors that can happen in any game. If racism was the reason, then teams like SL and West Indies would never hv won a WC.
Keshi.
hi keshi...nothing wrong to congratulate the winning team...so dun wory keshi...am at ur side! tcare n hv a nice day! hugzzz
Great view on this topic HE, tnxx!
**Have you ever wondered why we would reward some guy that can kick a ball more than the person that will drag you out of a burning house or fix your broken ankle?
so true...we hv become so power-hungry we forget the true essence of playing sport.
Keshi.
Somehow I believe this was a combination of circumstantial errors***Exactly, so is it a crime to protest against it? As far as racism, i still believe that Hayden and Clark definitely dont hv divine ears to hear which nobody else did, if it was Lee who wud said anything then it was a diff issue coz he was inches close to the heat and not them. We dont hv any statement registered by Lee backing on the racist comment to the refree, those two frekking umpires also went on record that they heard nothing which was objectionable, so how do u accuse a player on something that serious.
hey Southy!
**, so is it a crime to protest against it?
not at all. Protesting has proper ways of doing it too...like appealing for it until ur heard. Suspending the tour and threatening to cancel it is not very sporty.
Keshi.
All Im saying is there's no need to suspend the tour?***Well team india asked nothing wrong, they just asked to clean up the mess ie give a fair trial to bhajji who's been one-sidedly tried by the refree, change the umpires who got everything wrong infront of the crowd and everybody else and get on with the series. I dont see anything wrong with that and like every other Indian we never had any problem getting defeated in MCG coz that was a fair and clear match, but this was completely unacceptable.
So why the racist reaction from Indians Southy? Its going too far.
Suspending the tour and THREATENING to go bak to India last morning..dun forget that Southy!
Keshi.
They threatened to suspend the tour only when the ICC spokesperson said that they dont intend to change the umpires for the test match coming up at Perth, i mean how do u tolerate the same umpires when u got 7 blind decisions on a trot at SCG...Is it fair on the ICC being a governing body say something like that? As far as bhajji's case is concerned their demand is simple that he shud get a fair trial rather than the way it tanspired, on which the ICC has formed a commission to look into it and ACB hv also suspended Symonds to act any further untill a decision's taken.
Can't say I am well informed as I have only heard bits and pieces and I am not going to support India in what on the face of it seems like childish behaviour. But the arrogance of the Australian team is astonishing and it will only get worse unless cricket returns to the polite and sportsman like game it was. Who invented sledging in cricket? Australians I would guess. Now it has turned into a matter of pride. Wars have started over pride. Thoroughly bad business.
well my only point is this...if u have watched enough cricket u will realise that Mr. Pontinga nd his aussie team smack of absolute double standards..they can abuse all they want on pitch.question umpires (there is audio and video footage to prove it)...and there you have bhajji being penalised for a suppossed remark which was picked by neither the on field umpires or the Channel Nine TV crew...
and yes i believe India should pack their bags and come home...not because Bucknor and Benson gave wrong decisions...its a sport and it happens....but because you are calling a person racist without any proof..and thats a damn serious allegation..and it is not childish to say the least
When Aussies played in India..the guilty people were evicted and booked by the police..action was taken..and dont forget what names aussie teams have called players before....the most recent being th "Black Monkey" taunt to Jayasuriya...but i in no way say that this means that others start calling aussie players names
you should have just seen the reactions of the two captains at the press conference to see the difference between their conducts...Ponting is no Gandhi and he better learn that..and with it some humility and common sense
And I also agree that this in no way is a reflection of Australia or Aussie people....but yes it is a very sad reflection of Aussie cricket team
Yes sport is more than only abbut winning...but i think you are asking the wrong team to learn that
Peace Out!!!! :)
Way to go Keshi Gal!! I am with you... I do not support India in their act and I have my all close mates calling me a disloyal Indian... If that is the case why are they here to be resident of Aus or already resident or citizen..
chuck abt tht... WHAT IF Symond ends up calling bhaji a SARDAR.. Woah!!
Chuck that.. Guyz India lost to whatever umpiring or conspiracy or whatever ... A loss is a loss and tk pleasure loosing out to a well fought match and dun crib abt it...
WE LOST TO THE WORLD CHAMPIONS not BANGLADESH!!
Apart from that.... doh!! What's with people cryin over what's lost and going back.. If Indian players want they can stand together and every player on the Indian line up has the callibre to score century like Aussie's do...
Prove it in Perth..
Go Stand A Ball From Brett Lee or Tait there..
For GOD SAKE .. .. whats with everyone for accepting a loss ...
Cheers
Darsh
PS: What if we drew the match and din give last 3 wickets to the most weak baller M. Clark!!
Forget it..........
**Bhajji is a racist...
How can u say that??? I dint see ya on the field!
And Aussies cheated! Claimed grounded catches! There's very clear evidence!
Its a matter of national pride! Why the fuck must I accept that bhajji is racist?
And yeah! Its just a fucking game! why dont the aussies play it fair! And dont put up a stupid excuse saying "its the aussie way of playin!" Fuck that!
**Ok let's say that the umpires were blind, the Aussie team was rude, Harbhajan Singh was racist etc etc. So both teams are at fault right? Now what's the big deal here? Why be so dramatic and drag the scene to eternity ? It's not a good habit.
Keshi, Don't get offended. If I label u as a racist, just for the heck of it. Or may b worst, will u continue to b friends with me? More over make the whole world believe what i said, will u even talk 2 me?
**Aussies played on in India and that they did not throw a tanty or threaten to cancel the tour. That's what true sportsmanship is!
Good for the aussies! But sportsmanship? What the fuck is that?
**Grow up people...it's only a game!
Aussies surely like playing games! Don't play games... play the sport in good spirits!
People are not blind, not 2 see a catch being grassed, nor they r foolish 2 believe what Punther has to say!
What really is unsportsmanlike about the aussies is they justify everything they do, sayin, thats the aussie way! Fuck that!
The real racists are the Aussies & the ICC!
In MCG, Yuvi dint walk after being given out. Yuvi was fined for that! What did Ponting do at the SCG, when he was given LBW 2 bhajji? He in fact mouthed something 2 Benson! Why wasn't he caught by Mike Procter? Why the double standards?
So, its not right for anyone 2 say get on with it! WE ARE LIKE THIS!
I'd say come back fellas if the charges are not dropped & the ban lifted!
read girl read..
or better still,
watch!
and you will know the line between tolerable and intolerable.
you simply missed the point....
some bloggers may be wrong....
but the Indian cricket team isn't....
8 absolutely wrong decisions...?
3 partly wrong ones....?
remove the umpires....
as simple as that.....
ponting still defending the decisions that have been proven wrong by numerous tv replays from every angle possible....
he wont quit,that's for sure....
but task him to apologize......
as simple as that....
now...what would would you like to be called?
a bastard( Brad Hogg) or a monkey(Harbhajan Singh)?
firstly it's not racist....
secondly....
dole out the same treatment or probably even worse for brad Hogg...
as simple as that....
this is what the Indian team wants....
if you can't respect the team of the country that virtually runs cricket on this planet(it does..it wont be bigger than hip skop and jump if Indian sponsors back out) ....
i don't think they will respect anybody on the field....
"If this is what the reaction is just for a game of Cricket, then I'm not surprised why there are so many wars in this world and why people are killing each other over trivial things."
and it's not about being extreme and being childish...
it's about commonsense and justice.......
if pontings and gilchrists' word matter more than sachins' and kumbles'..i am not surprised that iraqi blood is not as precious as american/britsh/australian blood...!
and one more thing....
the indian cricket team is not a sore loser....
it loses way too often to be that....
but when mere umpiring decicsions and dishonest players snatch a won game from them....
it is serious......!!!!!!
And please don't say... "If there's no evidence, how d u conclude he DIDNT do it..."
Why must I believe Symonds, who doesnt walk when he was out to say the truth? Well, can't he be dis-honest now? He's just unable to digest the fact that bhajji is the kind who is gonna give u back when u mess around with him!
I'd say, if the series does go on, I'd fancy Indians beating the fucking crap outta Aussies in the remaining 2 tests and the ODI's as well! Am actually looking fwd 2 it!
And u have actually judged or declared, bhajji as a racist! Thats really sad indeed!
That's what true sportsmanship is!**
Well, Look at this video and read what Ponting said about the catch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcbJOkeyKBA
then watch this too - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jaZCJIXh__s and decide who's playing it 'in the right spirit'.
I agree totally with you keshi. There must be healthy contest between teams, one should take it sportive when losses and try to defeat them at next game… in friendly manner and not in an anger. It’s a small mistake by compare, for that we can complain at ICC and look for an answer from the compare. For that canceling the series is not good for a team. Cheers boys!
I don't recall ever Symonds or for that matter any other cricketer being targetted with racist comments within the time bracket you mention. You do have the incidents of "Aloo" (remember Inzy??) that's the subcontinent crowd for you.
What people are prtesting against in this Bhajji issue, is that a simple name calling as "Monkey" as been painted with racism. That's nthing but a joke.. that's were the current Aussie team robbed the spirit of the game. You lodge a complaint... say you didn't like it... but calling it racist is stretching it too far. And let's face it, the Aussie team has a history of doing it for years - on-field mental disintegration they call it...
Steve Waugh played this game nice and true... he never insulted... (really respect him.. more than anyone else I think!!)
Punter doesn't play it like that.. he insults.. and he has that history!!
When you know you've grassed a catch, and the umpire asks you, you are to be honest... not take the chance and claim what has not happened... Punter did that.. dats robbing the spirit of the game...
A clean caught at first slip (Clarke I think) and yet standing ground glaring at the umpire WRONG!!
Moreover, in case on any wrong doings on the umpires part, no team is allowed to lodge a complaint till the match is over - ICC rule. So, obviously it comes out in the end... but then the result are there...
It's a game... wen wil teh aussies treat it that way... and not as war.. were winning is everything!!! think abt it!! :)
cheers..
k Southy u win.

Andrew tnxx mate!
**But the arrogance of the Australian team is astonishing and it will only get worse unless cricket returns to the polite and sportsman like game it was
I agree Aussies r arrogant. But hell yeah they play well too!
yes...I want both teams to reconcile and bring back good sportsmanship to the game.
Keshi.
hey Dhruv tnxx!
**but because you are calling a person racist without any proof
should that be a reason to give up on the tour and pack up? I dun think so. Cos if an International cricket team backs off like that, we hv no hope for others!
Dhruv I respect ur views but I still stand by my words. Indians overreacted. They should hv let the authorities handle the case and continued with the tour.
-----------------------------------
Darsh tnxx for being so honest! I admire ur courage to say how u truly feel on this and saying it out loud here even tho u urself r an Indian.
Besides I think u and I hold the most unbiased view on this cos we both arent pure Aussies.
**Guyz India lost to whatever umpiring or conspiracy or whatever ... A loss is a loss and tk pleasure loosing out to a well fought match and dun crib abt it...
well-said! Thats exactly my point too. If the Aussies were in the wrong, the victory will be disqualified soon. So why crib abt it forever?? I think Indians love drama :)
Prove it in Perth indeedz! Thats what I said in this post too. Go get em!
And like u said in ur latest post, wut if India hadnt lost the last 3 quick wickets? Wut if it was a draw? Wud the Indian hv been less upset?
Its all timing, skill and luck.
Keshi.
hey Iceman tnxx!
****Bhajji is a racist...
when did I say this and where???? where r u picking up these lines that I never said?
Hold ur horses Iceman, dun give me all the facts I know already :) KP did the same thing. I didnt say Aussies were RIGHT/WRONG. All I said was wut has happened has happened. Leave it to the authorities to decide and move on.
**Its a matter of national pride!
seriously if this is such a big deal why is there so much division between North and South India? if India is so united, show it within the country.
I think u ppl r makin this a big deal and dragging it to National-pride level just cos this happened in Aus!
** If I label u as a racist, just for the heck of it. Or may b worst, will u continue to b friends with me?
If I was a racist, I'd accept it. If I wasnt, I'd clearly ask for an apology but I wont run away from it all.
**But sportsmanship? What the fuck is that?
Not running away from it all..thats what it is.
Iceman u r clearly steaming in anger. And thats not how u should discuss something like this. It seems most Indians r screaming n yelling in anger w.o. thinking.
**So, its not right for anyone 2 say get on with it! WE ARE LIKE THIS!
I didnt say for u to get on with, we r like this! If u couldnt u'stand my post, it's not my problem. Sorry mate.
Keshi.
Johnny I dun need to read anymore...I hv read enuf and I hv watched it too. And I didnt say that Aussies r innocent. All Im saying is that whats over is over...let the authporities handle the appeals etc and continue with the tour. Thats all.
Now why r all my so-called Indian mates yelling at me here in F words? Disappointing to the core!
Keshi.
Durjoy I didnt MISS any point. U prolly missed my point in this post :) I didnt say Aussies were innocent. All I said was that suspending the tour was childish. Let the authorities handle the complaints and get on with the tour...thats all.
Every person here seems to be venting out there anger on me, when really they should be reading what I said in this post, and then commenting on it.
I hope India will play in Perth and prove to Aussies what they wanna prove.
Keshi.
Keshi The deal is not about sportsmanship or making a big deal.
Aussies have always gotten away sledging at others and when someone does the same to them mind you a racist comment, huh?
It is high time some one takes a stand and am glad this suspension of the series will make ppl sit up and take issue.
There is only so much a team take with dignified stance on the field. Unfair umpiring, this sledging - things will blow over at some point.
Winning by anymeans hook or crook is not the same as winning by fair means. If one think a win is a win despite the means, they and Ricky Pointing are absolutely in sync. And when this starts the "fun" and the "spirit" of the game is lost.
Iceman Hi again!
**And u have actually judged or declared, bhajji as a racist! Thats really sad indeed!
WHERE did I say that??? wut r u on abt? plz dun accuse me of something I didnt say. That is as ridiculous as most Indians' reaction over this whole thing!
-----------------------------------
Jeevy I dun need to...I hv seen all that. I didnt say Aussies r innocent! Lets wait n see wut the authorities say and not throw hissy fits...thats all!
Keshi.
Jeevan thats exactly wut Im saying! Why be so ridculously angry!
**try to defeat them at next game… in friendly manner and not in an anger
spot on, tnxx Jeevan!
Keshi.
tnxx Parody! I agree with wut u said. But suspending a whole tour cos of it?
Im not saying that the Aussies r a goody goody team..but no team is!
Keshi.
u knw wot.. i again thgt abt it.. adn i think there is some correction that i need... its not the aussie team as such.. its a gew individuals who are bring the show down.. and maybe tarnishing aussie image (am not sure if u agree with it!!)
secondly, this entire racket.. it wud not have come arnd had teh indian team put up a dismal performance... they were really playing well.. and den things started gng wrong... first the umpires.. the attitude of certain individuals.. it's all added up...
boycotting the tour may not be the proper solution.. but then banning bhajji in a "your word against mine" situation doesn't seem right is it not?? and dats why i blv suspending the tour till some decision is made is valid.... a misconduct ban wud have gone down (like a bitter pill), but the present conditions do not allow that behaviour!!
am sorry keshi... but the gentleman's game was introduced to roughness.. adn this is how it escalates.. the propagator got a taste of its own medicine and is now crying foul.. dats not cricket!! is it??
:)
Hey Sam!
**I don't recall ever Symonds or for that matter any other cricketer being targetted with racist comments within the time bracket you mention
HUH! LOL which planet were u in last Oct during Mumbai matches? d u think Im lying Sam? :) That was a pretty ugly racist event in Oct in Mumbai...read the papers.
**is that a simple name calling as "Monkey" as been painted with racism.
it may be SIMPLE for u Sam, but it wont be for the victim. If it was said by Harbhajan Singh to Symonds, then it is RACISM..cos of Symonds' origins. I find it shocking that u call that term simple and not racist!
Sam why r u telling me abt what has already happened and what Im aware of? :) I DIDNT SAY THE AUSSIES R INNOCENT. NEITHER DID I SAY HARBHAJAN SING IS RACIST. Lets leave it for the authorities to decide and move on, can we!
** wen wil teh aussies treat it that way... and not as war..
whenever all Indians stop thinking they r always racially judged! If u choose to see something in one way, u will always see it that way.
Keshi.
**when did I say this and where???? where r u picking up these lines that I never said?
My mistake... got that wrong! Sorry... Reading millions of articles.. so mixed up some!
Picked it from there...
****Ok let's say that the umpires were blind, the Aussie team was rude, "Harbhajan Singh was racist" etc etc. So both teams are at fault right? Now what's the big deal here? Why be so dramatic and drag the scene to eternity ? It's not a good habit.
Lolz...
Besides.. am not fuming on the author of this post, ie., u keshi!
And from where did the North/South India thing pop up from!
India is as one from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Be clear about that first! We are not exactly hurling bombs between North & South India!
Hell yeah.. its a matter of national pride for us... for me!
**If I was a racist, I'd accept it. If I wasnt, I'd clearly ask for an apology but I wont run away from it all.
OK... U say u r not a racist, and demand an apology, I ask u to file an appeal. Lets say u file an appeal, that u r not a racist and I say that I'll decide may when I have the right mood for that! Till then u r permitted to talk to me and be friends with me! How sane does that sound?
Thats exactly what I am saying! Asking for a fair deal! Indian team is far too sporty to go ask for an apology! No one is exactly asking for a goddam apology here!
When Aussies attitude for winning by hook or crook is justified, Indians asking for a fair deal is totally justified. Even it means canceling the tour or blackmailing to do so!!! And thats not running away from it!
They are a gr8 team, I have fought with my dad n grand dad as I took side with them more than Indians! When they play gr8 cricket in the best sportsman spirit. But not this way! Certainly not this way!
Aussies won! Thats the end result. But the means must always justify the results.
**I didnt say for u to get on with, we r like this! If u couldnt u'stand my post, it's not my problem. Sorry mate.
I know that... I don't take anything written in this post or comment, personal. neither do I expect u to do so! Its ur point of view and hell yeah, u are entitled to have one!
Besides on a lighter side, just to be a jerk, thats the exact attitude am talking about, but put in a very subtle way! "If u couldnt u'stand my post, it's not my problem. Sorry mate." :P
tnxx again Sam!
** but then banning bhajji in a "your word against mine" situation doesn't seem right is it not??
I agree...totally agree! But that shouldnt stop u on tracks. The Indian cricket team should not take it 'personally'. And as an Int'l team, they should handle it professionally. If Aussies cheated, then file a complaint, follow it up but DONT STOP PLAYING CRICKET. prove to Aussies that infact India can get em!
That was my point.
-----------------------------------
Iceman Im glad u cleared me on that one! So yeah, know wut ur talking abt b4 jumping into conclusions and accusing ppl of things they didnt say :) Hasty decisions wreck r'ships.
**And from where did the North/South India thing pop up from!
India is as one from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Be clear about that first!
hell I know that :) When I said abt the North/South issue, wut I meant was how most North Indians look down upon Southies. Its a well-known fact even tho no bombs r thrown ard...I've read abt this all over blogville over the years :)
**Lets say u file an appeal, that u r not a racist and I say that I'll decide may when I have the right mood for that
U cant compare simple frienship with an ICC issue, LOL thats crazy! Cricket is abt being professional, not personal!
**But the means must always justify the results.
I agree. But throwing a fit over it doesnt help it, does it? The appeal has been lodged, so lets wait for the decision...in the meantime be true CRICKETERS, not ENEMIES.
Keshi.
**wut I meant was how most North Indians look down upon Southies. Its a well-known fact even tho no bombs r thrown ard...I've read abt this all over blogville over the years :)
U facts need correction... :P
It surely does not exist! I dunno all that... but when it comes 2 cricket, national pride and the country.... all fucker join as ONE! WE ARE ONE!
Things 2 keep in mind...
#3. Never say something bad about paranthas to a Northie!
#2. Never say something bad about curd rice, thayir saadam to a southie!
#1.Never mess with an Indian cricket fan!
ROTFLMAO!
Infact I am a Southie... I dont see any Northie looking down on me! Thats may b bcoz I dont look a southie!
On a serious note, as the Aussies say, its all just a friendly banter!
Have a gr8 year ahead kesh :) ... wld have wished u when i got here in the last post...but sumhow it's tough to walk blindly thru comments without getting drawn into a debate. But anyway, it's been a while and cld be a even longer before I get back around here (online etc...refer to my post on daily dose)...
Thanks for the lovely ecard :) .. i've been very slow in my replies and acknowledgements for very valid reasons (will email at length soon). Hope u will understand.
as far as this post is concerned. I think when it comes to criticising an out of form indian team, we indians spare no feelings. And when it comes to unfair play and attitude meated out to them, we don't take it any other way but extremely passionately. It boils down to fairplay and the right kind of attitude...and nothing less is expected from the Australian team but in all this it's a pity their sense of fair play was missing. Afterall even children watching the game know the rules.
U see it's not always about who wins in the end....it's also about how the game is played and how it's won.
And as u state about yourself (and I know u are) being a fair person...well, kesh so am I and many of the people who disagree with your opinion in this present situation...
I guess in that respect we can simply agree to disagree...
and oh yes about the racial slur lets not mix two issues. The guys who made fun during the australian tour were wrong - yes! and it got prominent coverage in the national news and dailies here and a lot of criticism. But never before has a player been accused of being "racist" ... it's a very strong accusation. And one person's word against another? How does the decision maker come to any conclusion but in bhajji's case, it's amazing to see the conclusion was drawn without any concrete evidence?...
If obvious repeats (telecasts)of the erring decisions and expert opinions are not enough to make the ICC realize that the umpire either suffered from some very very strange vision and hearing problem or was extremely biased... then are we expected to continue playing our game (good or otherwise) to only know that to lose is the end result we're playing for?
The Indian Team sat back and waited for the ICC to give them a fair hearing. I see no wrong in that. I see no point in our team playing in an unfair situation. Now that the ICC has considered and removed the erring/biased umpire, yes lets play.
And for all u know, australians might play their game fair and square and win :), and I'm sure in such a case (as before this unfortunate incident), the Indian fans will give them credit for a game played well and be the first to criticise any bad play by the Indians. And if India wins, we celebrate :)
It's never been about making much ado about nothing...much as one would always like to call the losing side "bad losers"...such was not the case this time.
That's simply my take on the whole incident . It's been a very tumultous couple of days here with regards it.
Rest of the personal stuff will be in my mail, just gimme sumtime coz I have uttsy visiting me for a few days and please don't hold my late reply against me :) ... I know u won't...
**huggzz**
oh dear,it's just a game, there are lots of other things to worry about in this world, as Keshi said, grow up!!
Iceman Zindabad......Iceman Zindabad!!!!!!
Keshi, India's emotions are probably as big as its population. You seem to be applying different yardsticks to India and Australia with respect to the words 'Game' and 'Sportsmanship'.When you say 'Sportsmanship', does that not apply to the aussies as well?? Why then did they not recall the indian batsmen who went out to bad decisions??? So where did their sportmanship go. And its a game after all... what say Keshi??
This is victory by deciet, not sportsmanship, for which you must appreciate India's right to protest.
The aussies pushed their luck a bit too hard, for which they must answer now.
Anyways, That was a stunning photo of you??? in the previous post??
Came in from KP's realise you have a new post when i read the controversy going on in there.
Hmm..I guess in all this i just have one thing to say as i have said there.
"The clashes of egos i would call it. Not worth a war when there is enough around the world.
I guess if a war is called for it should be in the field and with the balls that roll on it. not out of it."
Juz my thoughts.
Cricket is a game for us, but for them it's a profession, a passion. So, let them deal their situations. I am not a fan of anyone. I merely watch matches. So, no one's team. :)
England would not get involved in this kind of stuff - shows you can trust foreigners!!
N.B This is a joke
Sport is fun, sport is professional, sport is controversial, sport is competitive but once it moves away from those it is dangerous, like a religion.
I'm not Australian or Indian, nor like cricket but come from Liverpool where football is a religion. I've seen so much harm come from 'sport' so much social damage that I am put off sport of any kind once it gets personal.
Nice post Keshi, we are all special. We are all people together so why be judgemental at all and especially in the name of sport!
darling, a game should always be regarded as well.. a game!!
u can be living in m'sia but support MU when they come over here to play against our home country. for me, its just a game.
its funny when some ppl say life is a game and take it easy, but does totally the opposite thing when it comes to the real game! *sigh!
ammu.
dear keshi,
Once again sorry for taking the bashing! I stand by the fact but I am sorry for directing to you!
I understand you are not cricket in Australia. Its not your fault what has happend! You are true australian!
I read the post. I just dont know where to start.......so i`ll stop
Once again sorry for using ur name on my blog!
I stand by what i said on my blog...i am sorry for using ur name!
Without indulging into the cricket controversy, I'm here to wish you a very happy 2008.
Have a joyful new year Keshi. :)
LOL! I KNEW there would be a backlash!! Indians are CRAZY about that sport and declare national holiday when they play the finals!! Can you believe that? So silly if you ask me!!
Don't worry too much about all that, there are better things to worry about in life than few blogs dissing you for what you feel. You are a Aussie, and you should be proud when your folks win!
I heard that a Indian cricketer was making racist remarks about black Aussie cricketer, don't know much details. How intelligent of him? A brown Asian makes fun of black guy!!:P
well game is a game and eventually it will all settle
just wanted to point out one thing - there is a difference between a crowd howling names and players abusing each other
if a team or player is so worried about the crowd - technically he should not play - he is at that stage where he gets big bucks - so he has to be ready to face the public....but slurs from professionals is unacceptable - may it be harbhajan or hogg
cricket is by the way too docile compared to soccer....so lets all chill - actually "nothing" has really happened. read about soccer fans in britain and you will know
and like you i am awy from home india long - so i tread very carefully on the racial lines - as i have never been treated more better than a fella human :)
I don't think Indian team is planning to cancel the tour because of racism in Aus. One issue is blatant incompetence of umpires. Bucknor is giving ridiculous decisions against Indian team since 1992, and in this case the decisions were 8-2 in favour of Aussies. In fact, Symonds himself said in press conference on first day that he knew he was out, and yet umpires had rules him not out (Certain examples by Sachin Tendulkar, and even once Gilchrist, walking off the field in the past in such situations come to mind).
Even if we dismiss that as luck (and most people, including the team are), we cannot overlook the unsportsmanlike behaviour by Aussies, Ponting in particular. The two controversial catches were clearly shown by television replays to be grounded. Now a lot of days have passed since the end of test, yet Ponting hasn't said anything on the issue, and hasn't apologised for questioning the right of a reporter to ask him a question about the issue. (He said the reporter should not be standing there if he was questioning Ponting's integrity, when the question was entirely different). Ditto for the Clarke catch, which was referred to Ponting by umpires on basis on pre-series agreement between the captains.
Which takes us to racism issue. I don't think any racist (indeed derogatory) remark should go unpunished. But in this case, there is no evidence (no stump mics picked it up, and umpires didn't hear it). The issue was settled on the basis of the word of 5 Aussie players against 2 Indians at the crease at the time. And remember, Aussies are world champions is sledging, too.
All in all, Anil Kumble summed up the situation perfectly, "Only one team (India) was playing cricket on the ground".
This is not a case of sour grapes for Indian fans.
u validate ur arguments well keshi... but a galli cricket is different from an international match ... and if there was anything called a gentleman's game it is surely not evident anymore .. perhaps we two see cricket differently Keshi ... thts why I didnt comment on the cricket part in the last post .... yes it is a game but a game to be played in the right spirit ....
btw abt that other post u talked abt .... just leave the whole thing behind .. zamane mein gam aur bhi hain siway pyaar ke :)
TC
Alok
well keshi...for one thing i hate cricket....and another cricket is more important to people here than politics...i donno why...but well the whole country unites....but frankly speaking as you put it ,it is a game.....we must accept that well something suspicious took place and well we have the ICC to take care of it...
i have a feeling that everyone is still feeling insure about their own race...racism well seems a concept life nationalism, one with definite boundaries and created because of fear....on one side we are talking about global peace and saving earth and on the other w keep bitchin at each other...makes no sense...
i have never been to OZ....but no people can be more racially abusive as indians....within the country so much exists...and i will not be surprised that the government interferes...
Why did I have a gut feeling this was gonna happen when you said you were happy Australia won and not India?!
Damn...
Chicki..don't worry about a thing...
It's about the sport...if you cheer automatically for a team that represents your race but your heart lies elsewhere then you're not being true to yourself...
Fuck em'.....
Do you... Love Australia all the way baby!!!
HI keshi...
(this is not to offend u...)
who started it?
an aus player....(went to the match referee to complain)...so who is the cry-baby here???
"The Indians are threatening to boycott the whole tour?? That's totally extreme. .." y did this issue went so far??
because an Indian player gets slapped for a ban on the evidence provided by aussie players... and the evidence provided by an Indian player who has been playing for 18 yrs with a very clean backgrnd isn't taken seriously... (none of the aussie players equal him in the game called cricket...)
And bloody heck... who will tolerate wen a team loses in such a manner?
I dont think aus would have walked off if they were given such decisions.... wake up maam its not abt INdia its abt the beloved game!!
Shivanarine chandrapaul... (I hope u knw this WI player)... said, if at least 50% of the such decisions are given against aus then aus is jus another cricket team...
I dont think aussies are celebrating their 16 th consecutive victory at peace....(poor chaps!!)
FOr, certainly, a 'glorious victory' has never ever felt so utterly hollow n beneath contempt for aus...
I congratulate aus cricket for showing the world how to play the game.... I hope u guys will b able to digest if someone adopts ur tactics against u guys...
oh man...shees...its just a sports. how dare anyone else bash you in their blog!
I can clearly see that the Indian cricket supporters are a hypocrit crowd. When they loose they were paraded naked on a donkey, when they win everyone thinks they own the world. And now this?
How come no one talked about the time when the Indian players sold their game? Duh!
Sports will remain a sports, you can win it a 1000 times, but when a new guy wins, the credit goes to them...thats what sports is.
P/s: nice song...had that for my new year post since aussie was among the first to celeb the NY...
Yes all points taken.
Me like million Indians follow the game to the hilt, my humble opinion is Umpring is never ever fair in Aus.
The Aussies are great team and a team to beat.We too are huge fans of someone like Hayden Hilly, Ponting Steve waugh n warne and many other.
Aussies (cricket team) dont like the taste of their own medicine.
The whole episode was ridiculous and sad to say this is bound to happen again.
The means doesnt go well with the end.
Good to see a cricket post here.
Hi Keshi
I've been reading some of the comments and got to wondering what the inventor(s) would think if they could see how their game has evolved. I'm sure that the origin of the game was a couple of people fooling around and having fun. Like most sports today, the 'fun' has been removed.
I'm Canadian and like hockey, but now hockey is all about money and fighting.
Parents take their children to play hockey, and then they get in fights with other parents. Some get seriously injured or killed. And, it's all about children playing a game. Where's the fun??
Fans riot when their team loses and when they win. What's the sense?
What I see from reading this post and the comments is that for some people a fair game only happens when their team wins. When their team loses they're out for blood. This mentality reigns over many major sports.
Where's the 'fun'?
There's no 'fun' anymore.
Bev
well i aint much of a cricket freak .. bt still things aint pretty happy out thr .. n ppl express their emotions ..
so evntually I aint hurt netime .. hehehe :D
relax keshi .. its hard to teach ppl d spirit .. evry individual is to themselves :)

Go India .. push aussies arnd .. break some heads ..shall we .. hahahaha :D
chilllax barbie :)
***Sport is not only about winning the game, it's also about having a winning attitude ***
Perfectly put
Ish tnxx! Good to see u here after a very long time.
Abt Cricket...I didnt say Aussies were right...did I? So why is every Indian friend here trying to explain things to me as if Im totally clueless? All I ever said is let the ICC handle the issues and PLAY THE TOUR. Threatening not to play til Harbhajan Singh is cleared is CHILDISH. If he said MONKEY to Symonds he deserves to be banned...if he didnt say it, he will be CLEARED. But why PROTEST like everyone knows what truly happened? Let the cricket board decide that!
No worries abt ur email replies Ish.
tnxx!
Keshi.
Iceman u seem to be always CORRECTING me. Instead lets just agree to disagree.
tnxx!
Keshi.
Besides we dun need to use the F words on friends do we Iceman? Why d u let ur pride and ego take over friendship?
Keshi.
What are we talking here...
Loss of India against Australia.
Racism against Australia or Power game from Australia against India.
Are we talking about India loosing because of bad decisions or are we talking about India could not fight till the end and could not hold nerves.
To sort out...
Please be advised whatever I am going to write now is going to offend tons of people but might open their eyes..... (* condition apply to read further)
* We have batsmen like Sachin who rotates strike to give tailenders a go when he could have tkn on the aussie's in the first innings and could have easily rushed the lead up.. (scene could be different)
* 3 batsmen given out wrong from our team and 2 ballers given out wrong from our team
(Scene: It was not sachin, saurav nor yuvi neither Dhoni) These ARE TOP BATSMEN mind you to score century when they want!!
Yuvi - THE SIX 6's LEGEND
Dhoni - THE 20-20 WORLD CHAMPION and ONE DAY CAPTAIN
SAURAV - SCORES CENTURY AGAINST GREAT TEAMS LIKE KENYA & BANGLADESH only it seems...
And if this is the case... 3 Aussie batsmen faced such decisions as well.. but Symonds stood, hussey stayed and so did Hayden or the new class of Jacques...
failure has no excuse...
* Racism - Awww... Bhaji called Symonds a monkey... so not fair! How could he dare call the world leader player that anyways.. give'em some respect... NO BLOODY TEAM HAS BEEN ABLE TO BEAT ANY 1 PLAYER SINCE 15YEARS.... 3 world cups and the 4th doesnt even look like being won by some1 else...
Ya they have the right to be snob and right to be patheticly using their powers cos they are TOP players... and any1 of us here today would have an attitude if we are in that position and if we are even called a idiot at that position by our own fellow mates .. .WE WILL BE OFFENDED... So guyz... Do you know how a Abro will feel being called Monkey!!! WOW!!!!
* Excuse me my country mates... I RESPECT MY COUNTRY FOR ALL IT HAS lets not spoil it...
From snake charmers to the latest boom market ... We have travelled quite a distance... why create this new impression of CRY BABIES...
Catch up guys... I got a banner to make for the next match in Sydney!!
**** I MISSED BRADMAN ... I AM LUCKY TO WITNESS TENDULKAR PLAY HERE!!
Cheers
Darshik...
PS. Sachin did I say.. oops is my banner supporting an Indian player...
gear up guyz.. prove by cricket and not just blabber
Mohan tnxx mate! Well-said! As if India and this whole world hasnt got anything else to be so PASSIONATE abt!
If they put all that national pride and passion into doing something abt the REAL issues, this world wud be a HAPPIER and BETTER place.
Keshi.
Hey Sanjeeva WC n tnxx!
**Keshi, India's emotions are probably as big as its population
u think others dun hv emotions? :) I know Indians r very emotional..but CRICKET is a PROFESSIONAL game...not a PERSONAL drama.
yes thats me in those pics. tnxx! :)
Keshi.
**CRICKET is a PROFESSIONAL game...not a PERSONAL drama
I meant that for both Aussie and Indian teams. If someone was wrong, they'll get the punishment. But there's no need to scream racial slurs against a whole country and protest like kids. Australia is as great a nation like India. Dun ever underestimate Aussie values.
I find more Indians/Sri Lankans downright racist than Aussies. I know cos I hv lived here for years. Im not judging anyone by a match that I saw on TV. I hv real experience.
Keshi.
Amy tnxx hun HUGGGGGGGGGGGZ!
**The clashes of egos i would call it. Not worth a war when there is enough around the world.
How very well-said! Ur full of wisdom Amy. Ur right..its a clash of egos from both sides. And if this kind of passion is diverted to battling other serious matters in this world like HUNGER, POVERTY, DISEASES, WAR, TERRORISM and CRIME, that will be the real VICTORY!
**I guess if a war is called for it should be in the field and with the balls that roll on it. not out of it."
Spot on!
tnxx Amy MWAH!
Keshi.
tnxx Kalpz!
**So, let them deal their situations
yes but there'll be no Cricket w.o. fans :)
-----------------------------------
hehehe Mutley ;-)
Keshi.
hey Simon tnxx!
**but once it moves away from those it is dangerous, like a religion.
so true! To most Indians, Cricket is religion/LIFE. They even light themselves up when their team loses. It's pathetically EXTREME! Besides, they hv already mocked Aussies calling the team should die etc. It just proves the spoilt-sport attitude doesnt it.
**I've seen so much harm come from 'sport' so much social damage that I am put off sport of any kind once it gets personal.
me too. Im not a Cricket fanatic like some ppl r. I just wanna watch a good game and na I wont die and abuse my Indian friends if Aus loses. And if India cheated, I'd wait for the ICC to say something abt it...not boycott the whole tour and put on a big childish huf.
tnxx mate!
Keshi.
Ammu tnxx hun!
**its funny when some ppl say life is a game and take it easy, but does totally the opposite thing when it comes to the real game! *
very well-said girl! Some of my friends here who always believed in letting go etc etc r now screaming 'ego'.
Keshi.
KP its ok that u used my name there...but ur post gave the wrong impression of my beliefs. U laid out facts for me as if I didnt know abt any of em and as if I said the Aus team was CLEAN. I didnt say any of that in my last post did I? all I did was congratulate them for winning. And u wrote that post as if I needed to hear some facts.
Anyways, wuts gone is gone. Im not mad at ya..just that some of ur friends dun know me at all and seem to judge me from ur post. Thats all.
no worries mate :) We r still friends ok.
Keshi.
ty Indica and same to ya hun!
-----------------------------------
hey Asha tnxx lol!
yes I know Indian wud die for Cricket. But I wish that passion is directed into some other areas that really needs help. Isnt it sad that ppl wud kill each other over a game and not do anything abt things that really matter?
**I heard that a Indian cricketer was making racist remarks about black Aussie cricketer, don't know much details. How intelligent of him? A brown Asian makes fun of black guy
LOL exactly my point! I mean do we Indians/Sri Lankans think we r white? Callin Symonds a MONKEY was ridiculous cos actually he's fairer than us.
Keshi.
hey Ceedy tnxx!
**but slurs from professionals is unacceptable - may it be harbhajan or hogg
I agree.
**so i tread very carefully on the racial lines - as i have never been treated more better than a fella human
yes. And alot of Indians who brand Aussies as racist blah blah blah hv never even been to Aus or lived here for a while to see who is really racist.
tnxx Ceedy!
Keshi.
You have the right attitude. I mean, you're not being disloyal, just honest. And that's just fine!
You're not betraying anyone... geez, some people are too into it!
What do I know about cricket? Well, no much actually!
hey Amey tnxx!
I agree..if the Aussies cheated, they'll hv to pay for it. But my point is why throw hissy fits over a game? And how come most Indians (who called Symonds a monkey in Mumbai) r so determined that Harbhajan Singh DIDNT say it? No one knows it for sure right?
:)
Keshi.
hey Alok tnxx!
**thts why I didnt comment on the cricket part in the last post ....
Atleast u commented in that post even tho u avoided the Cricket bit :) Some of of my other mates chose NOT to comment at all in that post until this post came up :):). It shows whio my real mates here r...and u r one of em. tnxx Alok!
**yes it is a game but a game to be played in the right spirit ....
I totally agree. If Aussies were at fault, they'll hv to pay for it. Karma returns to haunt right? :) All Im saying is lets not fight and throw hissy fits...lets just move on.
Wut was that Hindi bit abt? Plz translate :) tnxx!
Keshi.
tnxx Vish!
As usual u see the bigger picture and u r so wise for ur age.
**cricket is more important to people here than politics.
I so agree! Why not direct that passion to politics and other areas where its much needed. Thats where true national pride is needed.
**we must accept that well something suspicious took place and well we have the ICC to take care of it
thats all I was trying to say thru this post Vish, and instead of reading wut I had to say, all my Indian friends here started slapping me with words. Sad indeeds. Atleast u and few others saw wut I was trying to say.
**on one side we are talking about global peace and saving earth and on the other w keep bitchin at each other
well-said! For example take Sri Lanka and Aus...which country truly has peace in their land?
**i have never been to OZ....
come to Oz...u will see how PEACEFUL and FRIENDLY most Aussies r. ppl paint a very RACIST picture of Aussies when they havent even been here. But Im glad u realise that.
**but no people can be more racially abusive as indians....within the country so much exists...
Amen!
tnxx Vish u r truly a very smart guy for ur age!
Keshi.
Lisssa MWAHHHHH!
I love Australia from my heart and I stand by it! But if they cheated, I demand their victory be disqualified. But I wont die over it and scream like a nutcase LOL! Cos after all, its only a game.
:) tnxx hun!
-----------------------------------
Avinash WC!
**who started it?
Indian fans. They started the MONKEY shit in Mumbai last Oct. :)
**so who is the cry-baby here???
Ponting. I agree. But who r the cry-babies now, suspending tours n all?
Abt evidence on racism...none of us know the truth. Only the players on the field on that day wud know the truth. Let the board handle that.
**who will tolerate wen a team loses in such a manner
good..dun tolerate it...go get the Aussies in Perth..isnt that a BETTER way of handling it than suspending the tour? Show ur courage and sportsmanship the right way.
**wake up maam its not abt INdia its abt the beloved game!!
thats so true. U should say that to urself! :) Cos all I see rite now is Indians screaming 'national pride'.
**I dont think aussies are celebrating their 16 th consecutive victory at peace
all I know is they r a TOP team and I dun underestimate their strength..not for a second.
**a 'glorious victory' has never ever felt so utterly hollow n beneath contempt for aus
true...neither does the suspension of the tour carry any grace and sportsmanship.
**hope u guys will b able to digest if someone adopts ur tactics against u guys...
did I say Aussies were right? Anybody who cheats isnt right.
Keshi.
good post hope you are well my sweet keshi? i am :) just doing stupid homework :(
hey Ghosty tnxx! Im not bothered abt being bashed in other blogs...cos I dismiss small talk anyways :)
**When they loose they were paraded naked on a donkey, when they win everyone thinks they own the world. And now this?
Exactly my point! Indians put posters on their so-called GREAT crickers and lit em up bak then. And now they r talking abt national pride and want the team bak home. I wonder why they didnt stand by their team when they lost in WC series. Wuts with these HISSY FITS! I think its all to do with the ego.
**How come no one talked about the time when the Indian players sold their game?
exactly! So Match-fixing is true sportsmanship? My point is no team is 100% clean..so stop abusing the Aus team only. If they cheated they'll be punished. Stop the massive fit. urrrrgggggg! :):)
If Aus won by cheating, then they'll pay for it. Lets just remain calm. Thats all Im saying.
tnxx Ghosty!
Keshi.
tnxx Tarun!
**Aussies (cricket team) dont like the taste of their own medicine.
and wuts that?
All Im saying is lets just get on with it...wuts happened has happened. Let the boards decide on the victory and racism issues..let the Cricket go on.
tnxx mate!
Keshi.
hey Bev tnxx for that truly great comment!
**I'm sure that the origin of the game was a couple of people fooling around and having fun.
exactly! Now they killing each other over a game! HOW SAD.
Every sport has become a matter of their EGO. Thats where the problem is.
**Fans riot when their team loses and when they win. What's the sense?
so true!
Wut Im saying to my Indian friends is here is that if the Aussies cheated, they'll get their punishment. And instead of suspending the tour, it'd be great if the Indians can go out to Perth and try to prove their true 'substance' to Aussies.
Yes there's no FUN in a game when the EGO is involved.
Keshi.
tnxx Anuj, ur the coolest friend I hv in India. :)
**its hard to teach ppl d spirit .. evry individual is to themselves
true...and Im NOT saying Aussies were being fair. wuts happened had happened...lets see wut the outcome is. but dun stop playing...go get the Aussies in Perth! Lets see some true sportsmanship.
Keshi.
tnxx LaVida!
It goes to both the teams.
Keshi.
HEY KESHIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!:)
I believe your Sri Lankan heritage combined with long-term Australian residency has given you an insight, maturity, and intelligence which is denied to many people. You seem to see right to the heart of these sort of issues, and say just the right thing. Me, I just look at all the conflict in the world and think, "do we really need any more over a simple game of cricket???"
I sometimes wonder if these big high and mighty sportsmen remember the time they played for the simple joy of it in the backyard, and laughed off being beaten by an older brother or father... (is that sexist? Sisters and mothers too!) Why can't they remember the fun of the game? It doesn't have to be a matter of international importance or racial relevance.
Hey Darsh tnxx mate!
**are we talking about India could not fight till the end and could not hold nerves.
3 quick wickets towards the end. wut say ha?
**failure has no excuse...
ty! In the same way, if unfair tactics were used by Aussies, they'll b punished.
If Harbhjan called Symonds a Monkey, I find that funny. Cos Symonds looks alot less like a monkey compared to darker-skinned ppl. Im being dowright honest here and NOT racist. I find it really funny that Indians in Mumbai called Aussies monkeys. Seriously do we think we r white and Aussies r black in color? Cos naturally monkeys r darker right? Wheres the logic! And most Indians said that the term MONKEY isnt racist and its a SIMPLE term...clearly they hv no idea abt the severity of such abuse on the field. If it happened to one of their players I wonder wut they wud say.
**We have travelled quite a distance... why create this new impression of CRY BABIES...
exactly! Besides Aus is a very fair country..if someone is wrong (be it Ponting or Harbhajan Singh), they will punish em. btw Brad Hogg has been charged.
When u go to the next Indian/Aussie match, I hope to be there too ;-)
** prove by cricket and not just blabber
SPOT ON!
ty Darsh!
Keshi.
hey Zhu tnxx!
yes there's a very thin line between HONESTY and LOYALTY.
:)
-----------------------------------
Hey Kaylz MWAH!
Do ur h/w now sweetz LOL!
Keshi.
G'day Stace!
**has given you an insight, maturity, and intelligence which is denied to many people.
tnxx! Most of the time, it's ppl who hv no idea abt Aus who jumps into abusing Aussies as racists just cos of a cricket game. They should come to Aus, live and work here to figure out who the real racists r. I hv lived both in SL and Aus...so I hv the clearest, most unbiased view on this. No one can deny that.
**, I just look at all the conflict in the world and think, "do we really need any more over a simple game of cricket???"
Spot on! If only Indians and Sri Lankans direct this sort of passion to their countries' musch needed areas, then it'll truly be a miracle for many ppl out there.
**... (is that sexist? Sisters and mothers too!)
LOL Stace ur cute. Yes I agree. The FUN is lost nowadays. Its all abt the EGO.
Keshi.
Hey hun
I'm heading out the door to go see a movie with my hubby, so I'll have to come back later and read this post!
Ok...see u later!
Sending lots of HUGGGGGGZ!
Margie
P.S I'm so tired I just know I'm going to fall asleep in the movie!
LOL!
Have not had a single break all day.
We don't follow cricket in the US.
I think some people take sports too seriously. I like your attitude to congratulate whoever is the winner. Otherwise, wouldn't one be a sore loser?
Love the song Down Under! I was just listening to it this morning! What a coincidence :)
a very loose translation ... it just meant ... there are zillion other things to be bothered for ... other than this kind of love :)
TC
Alok
Margie enjoy the movie hun! MWAH!
now dun fall asleep u sleepyhead LOL!
-----------------------------------
Tee tnxx!
**Otherwise, wouldn't one be a sore loser?
yes. And if the winning team cheated, they will get their karma on time.
Glad to know that u listen to Aussie music :)
Keshi.
hey Alok tnxx!
**there are zillion other things to be bothered for ... other than this kind of love
exactly my point! divert this passion into the areas that truly need HELP.
Keshi.
@Keshi
I cant believe u wrote that. I was not here to win or lose any arguement.
@Iceman/Durjoy
Thanks for bringing out the details more clearly and i stand by ur thoughts.
@Darsh
Check ur facts again, its not abt accepting a loss, its abt taking something and accepting something which u r not. As far as the resident aussies r concerned, its not a one-sided need.
@Darsh
Check ur facts again, its not abt accepting a loss, its abt taking something and accepting something which u r not. As far as the resident aussies r concerned, its not a one-sided need
@ Southpaw
Facts were checked ma facts, did all the concerned requirements b4 goin against the facts... you are accepting it mate.. it is not abt accepting a loss .. It is indeed about takin something and giving something..
Give it with a win mate.. not wid idiotic protests and leaving a tour...
SAR ZAMINE HINDUSTAAN!! wasnt it.. proud of being great fighters... FIght it.. why pick on a small case and create a scene till a extent of leaving the tour...
Indians got enuf respect by a great welcome in Sydney and Melbourne both.. How did Kumble and team 4get that..
ooops the sportsmanship over WHAT i dunno
Cheers man
Darsh
Keshi,
To tell you the truth, I’m not really much of a sports fan in general be it F1, tennis or cricket... I watched football match sometimes, but not bcoz I love the game but the players.. hahahhah.. I know, a bit silly but who cares... and since cricket is not that popular amongst Malaysians and im not sure what the hell is going on out there.. I think I'd better skip this one... btw, congrats to the winning team!
Southy hey!
**I was not here to win or lose any arguement.
then why cant u just accept the fact that Indians suspending the tour was unsporty just as much as how u claim Aussies were unsporty in the field?
Southy this isnt abt argueing until we think we hv cleared the Indian/Aussie team's actions..it's abt accepting wut has happened from both sides and proving ur credibility in the next match.
**@Iceman/Durjoy
Thanks for bringing out the details more clearly and i stand by ur thoughts
If u didnt know, Iceman got confused reading too many articles/blogs on this and accused me of something I didnt say. Later he apologised. So yeah, beware of the 'FACTS' ppl present here in a total FRENZY. :)
Besides Southy, u and I hv been friends for so long. And u chose to praise Iceman's words (just cos he's a strong natiionalist) and u forgot to see how he used the F word all over his comments to prove a point to me. Didnt u hv anything to say abt that Southy? If u were my good friend, mebbe u wud hv picked up something good from my post too. And I didnt use any F words on Indians as well :)
**Check ur facts again, its not abt accepting a loss, its abt taking something and accepting something which u r not.
Darsh has got it ABSOLUTELY right! I admire his attitude and honesty, he being an Indian himself. Both he and I know the FACTS ur taling abt. No one denied that Aussies must hv played unfairly. But all we r saying is not to throw tanties...the Board will handle it..Im sure they r fair ppl or else they wudnt hv sacked Steve Bucknor. Just that unwarranted hatred and racial debates r not necessary..besides the Indian team can prove their integrity and competence in style...and that is by playing on and getting the Aussies in Perth..not by putting on one big childish huf!
Keshi.
ty Darsh!
**It is indeed about takin something and giving something..
Give it with a win mate.. not wid idiotic protests and leaving a tour...
very well-said!
Keshi.
hey Diva MWAH!
**not bcoz I love the game but the players..
lol haha ur like me :)
no worries sweetie..and hey tnxx!
Keshi.
People say baseball lasts forever, but cricket is just nuts for length. I watched part of a game once when I lived in England.
Definitely an experience to say I did, but it just went a little long for my tastes.
That said, have a good 1!
tnxx Bumble!
yeah Cricket can be boring :) Like this drama right now hahaha! yawwwwwwwwwwn...
:):)
Keshi.
@Darsh
ooops the sportsmanship over WHAT i dunno***Define me that word once again, coz the sport i hv associated with for 15 yrs the word has no place there.
@Keshi
I m well aware of the facts, when i say i stand by their thoughts, its on not taking one-sided statement and concluding on it and not their choice of language, like me they hv been ur friends as well and it was ur choice publishing it not mine. And since u hv already said it in one sentence i win which means like my national team i m unsporty and shud learn taking things which we r really not, so there is no point saying anything further.
Good day.
Southy no need to be so emotional abt this.
** and it was ur choice publishing it not mine.
I really dun think true friends say such things as 'its YOUR problem not MINE' to each other. So u dun care if someone uses the F word a 100 times on me as long as YOUR point is supported. :):) It shows how much respect u hv for me as a friend Southy. U hv crossed the boundary of SPORT and treaded on to NATIONALISM.
All these comments in this post suggested who my real friends r and who r just on a national vengeance-spree. We can always hv a healthy discussion w.o. calling each other names and w.o. losing RESPECT for friends. I guess some of the ppl u praised dont know how to do that.
Keshi.
And the fact that u chose to ignore their rude words, and pick only the ones that suit ur opinion, wasnt very classy either Southy.
Keshi.
Say anything guys..I still love Australia and I think the Aus cricket team rocks! And the Aus attitude rocks too. They hold no stagnant grudges that;d prolly go on til my next bday!
GIVE ME A BREAK INDIAN CRICKET FANS, its starting to stink!
Keshi.
@South
***Define me that word once again, coz the "sport" i hv associated with for 15 yrs the word has no place there.
Hahahahah... haha.... Lol!!
I am sorry mate.. You tk things to personal.. Your sport..I am glad you call it sport.. I thought it is a duty and passion, but anyways... There are 1 billion others there in the same Country who play the same sport, die for it or benefit from it...
Dun give me that mate... Seen that.. and have a lot of dear such frnds... very dear... lost a few and earned a great respect too...
Not Any (many?) not any i have come across... .. .. "ah chordo yaar"
Cheers.. Astala Vista for now
Darshik... :)
Good one Keshi Gal! I appreciate the spirit you have held and the truth you stand for...
Well said!
It's Cricket A Sport... and not World War 2008!! Give it a break fanatics... Play it ... Dun blame it
Lol
Cheers
I so hate cricket!
There is absolutely nothing to fight about here!
huh! It all happens in a game!

Keshi,
it did not occur to me that the term 'monkey' is a racial remark till most of the Pro OZ settlers seem to think and reflect it.
The remark, if ever made would have been more of a personal attack and not directed towards any race or group. However the remark, if it was made in plural would have to be called racist.
I also have to let you know that I have been the victim of similar abusive remarks at work from an ozzy manager of one of your biggest construction companies which operates in dxb.
Moreover, what about the abuse the aborigines, who are the true sons of the soil, have to endure from you settlers??
The land down under is no exception to the practice of racism, which exists in every corner of the world.
All said and done, my respect for you has grown tremendously, specially since you have replied with so much politeness to so many mails including some of which were quite malicious.
Way to go Keshi.

Murph said:
The Indian team is over pampered and over paid. Walking away from the tour basically screams of poor sportsmanship after losing the first two tests. They are not good enough to realistically beat the Aussies and know it. A couple of decisions went against them and now the toys have gone out of the pram. Toughen up India and get on with it!
Murph.
ty Darsh! :)
LOL ur right..this aint world war 2008 for Christsakes! Its more like 9/11 now hahaha!
JUST GET ON WITH IT PPL!
Like I said, digging it again n again n even trampling on friendships just to be right aint gonna change the situation. Wuts happened has happened. Lets not DWELL on it! The baddies will somehow get their punishment. And the show must go on, right!
why o why cant ppl get this LOL!
Keshi.
Murph ty!
Im not sure if the Indian team is over-pampered but they sure dun look so confident this time.
Anyways now that a new umpire has been appointed, lets hope the match goes on in Perth. Lets hope the Indian team dun boycott it again cos of Harbhajan's pending appeal results.
Man boycotting seems to be in fashion? LOL!
Keshi.
Hi hun
I just came back to leave a comment about your post.
But, I see this post has gotten some not so nice comments!
That's kind of sad....don't be disheartened by those comments!
I think you did an excellent post on this whole issue!
I'll just say....I love ya hun!
Oh, the movie was wonderful...I stayed awake!
**Think of me doing the moon-walk across the movie screen n u won't fall asleep then cos u'd be laffing like crazy LOL!**
Hahaha!
I kept thinking abt that...it did the trick!!!!!
The movie we saw was "Charlie Wilson's War" with Tom Hanks!
He is such an amazing actor!
I love him!!!!
Now, I'm off to bed.
I was going to reply to all the nice people that visited me again on my new post, but I'm too tired.
I'll have to do it tomorrow, and pay them a visit.
Nitey nite darlin'.

HUGGGGGGGGGGGZ!
-----------------------------------
Sanjeeeeeeeeeeva :) tnxx mate!
**Moreover, what about the abuse the aborigines, who are the true sons of the soil, have to endure from you settlers??
I agree. There hv been some very bad treatment to Aboriginal ppl in the past. Alot of things hv been said n done abt it in the present.
Im not saying Aussie is completely racism-free...hell nah. But which country is completely racism-free? u tell me :). I believe every one of us is a RACIST deep down. Cos naturally we r drawn to our origins more that to others. But when it comes to sport, we hv to use our heads, not our hearts. Right? :)
Anyways, I agree with ya. Aussies can be as bad as Indians r. Any race chooses their own..but there's no excuse for it hehe.
tnxx n cheers!
Keshi.
And abt the term MONKEY...it may not be racist in India..but it is in Aus. no one calls each other MONKEY over here hehe.
But anyways, lets hope Harbhajan Singh gets cleared and the match will go on. I want everyone to be happy next Wed. :)
tnxx!
Keshi.
hahaha Margie so it worked! COOL! :):) I wanna see that movie too. I LOVE HANKS!
**That's kind of sad....don't be disheartened by those comments

female foeticide

and a helluva lotta stuff that needs to be changed in India
i cud never understand this love for cricket...gimme boxing anytime...atleast if u hve a problem with ur opponent u can beat him up or bite his ears...
Hooray for CSKA - the best Bulgarian soccer team!
hi kesh... emailed ya :)...nuthin to do with the ongoing debate here of course :) ... just gnrly filling you wid news from my end! hope it made it to ur inbox?
tk cre ... *hugz*
hear, hear!
neither am i black..nor am i white..i am a human and an INDIAN...well just for a reference...chk the cricket websites arnd the world that talk abt Aussie sporting spirit on the field...there are numerous..i mean infinite incidents involving crickters indugding in unsporty acts on the field...and stats will show Aussie's lead the pack..
sometimes measures need to be taken to show that arrogance is not being sporty n having a sportsman spirit...
i am sure the difference of opinion will exist..but i saw the comments section sway away alot from the main topic...newaz for me...I believe the cricketing world knows what is right n wrong out there on the field than anyone of us...
cheers!!
Keshi dear... Hope ur doing gr8.. u must be... :-)
I fully agree with ur view but my personal opinion abt this sydney test.. Aussies showed too much desperates to win. In the name of it... they lost the respect for the game. They got into the feeling that Winning at any cost.
I'm sure now everyone knows abt the integrity of Ponting.. Thanks to photographs & video replies.
I dnt hold this current Aus team in the same league as Steve waugh's team.
Hey Keshi... u missed my point else i drafted it half baked... my point ws no player was targetted by an Indian player.. the audience one.. yes.. and they were punished!!
Ishi adn southy have put in the same thoughts in much better draft.. wish i could have done that!!
anywyz, the decision is out... that they've decided to listen to Bhajji's appeal.. which is good news...
Bucknor removed.. fair enuf.. he had taken wrong decisions one too many in recent past.. sad to see a good umpire go out this way.. but then...
I'm still wondering about the conduct of certain players as was captured on recordings...
Tell me does one get to appeal against a player for making obviously illegal appeals??? I'm not sure if one can...
Too bad a few "good" players tainted the team with a bad sportsmen tag!! that's sad!! I admired a few of them to be honest.... now i don't know.. i don't follow cricket much.. but am a sucker for fair play...
i was so appalled... i remember arguing with a frnd that this is just losers cribbing.. and then i saw it allon TV... felt ashamed in a way!!
hey keshi.. how r u?
its fun binging on the food here while the whole cricket world is fuming :D
i very politely beg to disagree with you (yet again):D I think my latest post should clear things a bit. and pls dont get "annoyed" :D
(Some) Australin greats agree that the Aus cricket team went overboard.
http://content-eap.cricinfo.com/ausvind/content/current/story/329929.html
And Indian captain is looking forward to playing in the right spirit.
http://content-eap.cricinfo.com/ausvind/content/current/story/330013.html
If Aussies still behave as they have, not only India, no one will like to play with them. You see its already very humiliating losing so badly, to such a great team :), but putting up with such arrogance, chaeting, and name calling is not part of the game.
I don't know anything about cricket, but you congratulate anyone you want.
Keshi,
I have liked Aussies team for their hard work and play..Man they play amazingly
I didn't read the whole post.. I didn't want to read it!
I feel sorry , kp used your name in the other post on his blog.. but then he dint mean to paint all with the same paint.
BUT that been said...being sporty? We are crying? God!! who lodged complaint first? when did we say that we have won it!! God we have lost so many against Aussies, it is NOT about accepting defeat;
it is about accepting your mistakes.. You might have already seen all the videos of the legitimate dismissals of Indians..
I don't care about the match outcome( they have already won).. I care about Bhajji... and I don't care a heck about Ozs team.. they are known for sledging and however they try they are going to be seen now and forth as the foremost team in play and sledging.
that been said..I wish all this gets sorted out! We in India are crazy about cricket and cricketers..
and we r emotional when it cmes to cricket.. and we love being like that.. and I don't care if i sound irrational at all ;)
lov,
Veens
Wow Keshi!! I am impressed that they dont treat you any different in Australia. You must be really nice!
I always feel like an alien from another planet listening to cricket reports on BBC. I can tell it's a sport with exciting action verbs but I'm clueless on what they mean! Most people trying to listen to American football must get the same effect...
you're right...u support whoever you want. just because you're from sri lanka. it doesn't mean that you have to love all the sri lankans. i don't have nationalistic pride in my country or even in my newly adopted country. you know, they're not the best. every country has problems.
Keshi Keshi Keshi
Dear girl, what have you done here? :)
This has to be the most controversial post you have ever written. The post including the comments has delved into subjects far deeper than you intended.
Watching from the sidelines, I’ve read very intelligent arguments for and against your viewpoints. In a strange twist, you have captured the true essence of being a writer. You motivated your readers to not only think, but to write well thought-out comments.
The controversy surrounding the game is masking deep-rooted issues far beyond the game itself. Some readers have brought the issues to the forefront. Until the issues are resolved, the conflicts will continue.
Bev
aww Margie ty sweetie!
**That is how I feel about you hun!
Just like a sister!
I felt so loved reading that! HUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGZ! And u r a sista to me too...a golden one!
Hope ur having a great day...

ty TQM!
but more than just loving Aus, wut Im saying is lets not fume in anger over a game. I think Indians r showing very well that they love to drag a fight LOL!
Keshi.
tnxx Jim!
**i hate that attitude
thats exactly wut Im saying. Its over now so lets get on with it! The board will deal with the Aus team/umpires...now its time for the Indian team to stop cribbing and for the Indian fans to get over it!
It sure does sound like a war LOL! Im laughing at how some Indian fans burnt the Aussie flag etc. Who really cares ha..its them doing those stupid deeds and doing their country shame by burning another country's flag.
**female foeticide
dowry
dowry deaths
bride burning bcoz of insufficient dowry
exactly wut I said too! I mean direct this passion and love for the nation thru the areas that REALLY need help!
ty Jim for being an HONEST man!
Keshi.
hehe Tys tnxx!

tnxx Ish will read soon! :)
Keshi.
Milady tnxx! :)

**i am a human and an INDIAN...
hell I know ur Indian :) Thats where u guys take it too far and take it personally. This is CRICKET man...not Indo/Pak war :):) Let the ICC handle the cheaters/racists whoever. Just get over what has happened and play on...thats what Im saying. Does the INDIAN in u recognise that? :)
Keshi.
Chap tnxx and I agree...cheaters should never go unpunished. But who said Aussies r CLEAN? And who says INDIANS/PAKS etc r clean? No team is 100% Clean.
**I'm sure now everyone knows abt the integrity of Ponting
hell yeah. And Im sure everyone knows abt some match-fixing Indian cricketers'intergrity too. Its not an Indian/Aussie/Pak/SL thing. It's a HUMAN thing. Cricketers r also human and do make mistakes. So dun hold a grudge on a RACE level. Many cricketers from every nation has done degrading things than this.
Let the ICC handle Ponting/Harbhajan/Hogg etc. Dun just hold grudges...enjoy cricket and play in the spirit as ur own captain said! Fans should know that too.
Keshi.
Hey Keshi!
Tough situation. I understand people getting worked up over sports. I'm not going to try to justify it, but I can understand it. I think it's a way to vent ones own frustrations in life in a (somewhat) acceptable manner.
Sounds like you're an Australian fan at heart, and I say embrace it!
I AM SO STRESSED :( HOW ARE YOU TODAY?
Sam wuts the point that u so admire abt Southy/Ish's comments? They as well as Keshi know the facts/points ur talking abt. Its not that Im a bimbo with no clue abt the match. :) Well thats how most of my Indian friends here saw me in this post..sadly.
Wut Im only trying to say is let the authorities handle it. Is there any point in raving on abt this and threatening to boycott the tour? Well if the Indians want to go bak home, it's upto them...but they hv one other option, a better one...and that is, now that they got the umpire sacked and hv it their way, they can go to Perth and prove to Aussies their real colors. Right? Go and play!
Keshi.
Jitterz no worries...we never agreed on anything anyways LOL!
Will be there soon ;-)
Hope ur having a good break at home.
-----------------------------------
hey Rajeev tnxx!
**Australin greats agree that the Aus cricket team went overboard
I know. Im not an Aussie great hehe and neither did I say that Aussies didnt cheat :) All Im saying is PLAY ON INDIA and get the Aussies! Dun boycott the tour! Thats all :)
Keshi.
tnxx Nadine! :)
-----------------------------------
hey VH tnxx!
**who lodged complaint first?
hehe true...Aussies did. But if u go to see who did this first and who did that first, we can backtrack to alot of ugly events that happened in Oct in Mumbai too. so lets not seek BLAME. Ponting was being childish there I agree. But tell me, is there any point in going so ballistic abt it? Cos every team has it's mistakes. And we r only fans screaming at each other here - some even forgetting friendships here :). But the ultimate decisions will be taken by the board so let em do that. And the Indians should play on w.o. boycotting the tour. I say go get the Aussie 'cheaters' then in Perth...wut say VH? :)
Thats all :)
Keshi.
And VH..its no point being so 'emotional' over a sport. There r rather very imp things that Indians/Sri Lankans/Paks should really be 'emotional' abt...such as our countries' REAL issues.
Keshi.
hey Soiltaire!
**I am impressed that they dont treat you any different in Australia. You must be really nice!
Its not only in Aus. In any country, u get what u give.
Keshi.
Paul yeah I hv no clue abt American football LOL!
tnxx!
-----------------------------------
hey Dalicia tnxx hun!
**i don't have nationalistic pride in my country or even in my newly adopted country.
yes ur right...love and pride should hv a meaning behind em...not just for the heck of it.
Keshi.
G'day Bev!
**Dear girl, what have you done here?
LOL I hv opened a can of worms.
**The controversy surrounding the game is masking deep-rooted issues far beyond the game itself.
SPOT ON! This is the whole problem behind this saga...the deep-rooted issues that go bak to history of blacks vs whites - us vs them. Im shocked some ppl still carry the the grudges and stir em up thru a game of CRICKET!
Keshi.
AB heyy hows u? :)
yes, I can u'stand their frustration too. But I hope they u'stand the frustration that comes with a BOYCOTT and fans behaving pathetically. Its childish.
ty AB!
-----------------------------------
Hey Kaylz why?
Keshi.
becauzse of this homework though the teacher told me just to do what I can of it!!!!! then wuit idf i need too! which i might! but,I think its more of something else that is really bothering me that I wont talk to anyone about!
*wait if i need to sorry :)
Kaylz take a break and try doin it later...
Keshi.
hello keshi dearest - i think everyone is making too big a deal of it - both teams and countries were wrong but they should just move one and do what they came to do and that's play cricket.
Being called a 'monkey' is not a racist term here in Aus Kesh, or if it is, it's the first time I am hearing of it.
At least Buknor is gone and Harbhajan has been given a fair appeal so things cn get back on track. Perhaps India took it too far by boycotting but seriously, Bucknor had to go and perhaps that was the only they could get attention to the fact he had double standards.
Anyways, it's just a game and a game it should stay.
Silvara I agree totally! Those who cheated need to be punished.
But why so much anger and nationalism? I dun get that. :)
Keshi.
@keshi...the indian in me moved on...made my pt...n saw the indian team go play in canberra...but does the world realize that the Indian has changed??become competent enough challenge the others...lets take it on the sports field..to reply back to sledging..to standing up when something wrong is said n done to them???well the world needs to realize that the indian today is a global force....aint that a lil scary for the ones who thot they are at the top???????
Mav I REALLY hope the Indians hv moved on. Cos it doesnt seem like it yet :)
Nothing to be scary abt India progressing in other areas. It can only be congratulated for! Cos its for the good of the whole world and its not a competition is it? :)
All those die-hard Cricket fans should really direct their passion to the much needed areas of India...if u know what I mean.
tnxx!
Keshi.
Hi,Keshi..Believe me,I'm totally with you..this whole incident has been blown out of proportion, especially by the media, who find that today, gossip and scandal is what sells, and, not just simple good news!
I'd prefer to remain neutral on the issue..after all,it's just a game to be played-and,not one big international political issue. So what if one test match was lost? It's not the end of the world,it's not the World championship final or the T-20 final.Frankly,I think both sides should shake hands and come out smiling. But,yesterday's news was showing that the tour is cancelled..maybe that's also just a rumour..anyway..nice post!Do continue to be frank,as always.
tnxx Amit I knew u'd hv a sensible point of view on this issue.
**Frankly,I think both sides should shake hands and come out smiling
thats right! And with India threatening to cancel the tour, it's not gonna happen is it.
Keshi.
All I can say is this series is mother of all series cos it involves 2 of the best Test playing nations, whatever rankings say, i give 2 hoots to them.
Basic problem i saw it was in the umpiring. It was sub standard and absolutely worst. Not cos Indians were at the receiving end, but the degree of bad decisions for India were too bad......
I think the issue of banning Harbhajan was also bad, cos somewhere in India (not mine) there is a perception that Ricky Ponting has got Bhajji out of his way cos for 3 out of 4 times he s fallen to the Sardar from Jullundhar......
anyways, i feel Sydeny test should be annulled and it should be a 3 test series......
I am just expressing my views....Wot i feel. And yes i have been a fan of India and Aussie cricket teams. When India doesnt play, Aussie team is the best one i like , for their standards of the game and excellence....
Ashu tnxx but I hope I didnt force u into commenting here :)
I agree with ya..lots of things went wrong. Lets hope justice prevails and lets hope INDIA plays on.
Keshi.
Well, i cannot be forced to do anything, if i wish i do, if i dont wish i dont :)))
so chill........
Thats great to know Ashu tnxx! :)
Keshi.
oh I heard some new furore coming up... didn't quite catch it... frankly, i agree with u on this on.. got wot ya wanted.. now go ahead and play the game... if u r really good u shud b able to repeat ur performance... and win...
let's see if the performance shown by the indian team was one off or going to be a regular show!!!
they had better perform u knw... :P
tnxx Sam!
** got wot ya wanted.. now go ahead and play the game
yep thats wut I meant from the beginning. :)
Keshi.
"The Indian board's stance amounts to attempted blackmail and it cannot be tolerated. Holding the game to ransom in such a way is arrogant and bad sportsmanship."
- from BBC
And this is what Im saying too. Just as much as Aussies may hv played unfairly, Indians arent in the right spirit either..not anymore.
Indians r screaming PAST issues thru PRESENT events. The White regime in India is OVER - we all hv Independence. This is the 21st century, so lets not assume this is an on-going racial war dating bak to British rule. I cam see Gandhi mentioned everywhere - why?? That has nothing to do with CRICKET. Besides Cricket is an Englishmen's game! Dun forget that too. Now GET OVER IT ppl and move on!
Lets hold hands, not grudges.
Keshi.
Hmmm lots of mud-slinging going on blogs these days for no reason.Than the people actually involved,it is those who comment without knowing a thing who are more to blame.
You need not justify yourself to anyone dearie, you are what you are and great at being exactly just that!
As for cricket,it's just a game and I don't know why people are almost fanatical when it comes to this.
Take care babes.Love ya.Hugsssssssssss
tnxx Sam ur so sensible. HUGGGGGGGGGGGGGZ!
Keshi.
The basic idea in the post is "why boycott". The following piece written by a an indian national posted in the Indian Embassy in Moscow. Do read, may give a perspective on what angered BCCI and Indians in general.
http://vivekspace.com/2008/01/07/justice-now-with-icc-falvour/
k tnxx Rajeev! Will read n give u my thoughts. :)
Keshi.
"whingy attitude"
An umpire gets it wrong one way 8 times in this match, and a countless times in others, another umpire gives a catch out, asking the australians instead of the third umpire and Harbhajan is declared guilty on the word of 2 australian players over those of Indian ones. All of these umpires have previously been accused of racism, but continue in their posts. You want Indians to take all of this without complaint.
It is possible you are not aware of how many times Australians have whined in much lesser circumstances, but is it also probable that, at some level, you are an emotionally terrorised outsider in Australia, who needs to be more loyal than the King? A desi who needs to totally conform to be acceptable to Aussie society? One who would regularly feel the need to declare how much she is accepted in Australian society?
"Congratulating any one who wins"
Maybe you would go on to congratulate those on steroids too? Real Sporty isnt it?
"If someone chooses to see as being taunted on racial basis, and not do anything abt it at all for years, then d u expect things to change?"
Many Indians, maybe including you, accept being kicked around regularly. Which is why many in India are protesting the issue. You are wrong that this is just about sport, it is an example in sport of something many Indians feel they undergo in every aspect of life.
If you had the need to understand India as much as Australia, you would not have drawn such adverse commentary. Many desis think it is safe to strongly criticise India from a distance, even without merit, because Indians will not mind and Australians will love it. Well, from now on Indians will mind. Mind it.
"Prove it in Perth"
But we already have in the present match! Are you even aware of how close it really was even with so many umpiring errors?
"Suspending the tour is childish"
Keshi, the Indians have been complaining about racism and biased umpiring for a long while. It is only because these have been ignored that the next step was taken. Till 1995, Australia and UK even had a veto power at the ICC! It was only because people protest that things change.
anyways keshi, in harbhajan's case, the referee chose the word of the australian team over that of the Indian, without any independent proof. How would you explain it apart from racism?
I set up a blogger acount just to send you this comment.
God Keshi, u have so many comments, hunting the reply for me was hard ;)
yes.. I wish they did play well.. I know they can do it.. jus do it guyzz...
lov,
vh a.k.a veens
yes Veens thats the spirit...lets hope India does well in the next match to make their fans happy as well as teach whoever cheated a lesson :)
TC n hv a good one!
Keshi.
Deshi WC n ty!
All I can say is I didnt say Aussies were being fair. Did u read my post at all? I guess not. All u wanted to do was prove ur point abt being a grateful Indian. Im sick of hearing that by now anyways :) Read this entire comment section...it reeks of patriotism instead of common sense and sport.
There r no racist communities, only racist individuals.
** but is it also probable that, at some level, you are an emotionally terrorised outsider in Australia, who needs to be more loyal than the King? A desi who needs to totally conform to be acceptable to Aussie society? One who would regularly feel the need to declare how much she is accepted in Australian society?
LOL hv u ever been overseas or lives n worked overseas? Guess not. Thats why u asked such ridiculous 'racist' questions urself. No one forces us to be Indian/Aussie/Aboriginal/Chinese in this country. We r individuals. Or else Aus wont hv a skilled migration system, where they judge a person's skills instead of skin color for entry into this country. Do they ever teach u that in ur land? To look beoynd skin color and accept ppl for WHO they r? I guess not. Thats why u sound so terrorised by a simple game of Cricket and hv gone this far. :):)
Mate its only a game, not world war ...chillax. U need a beer or a glass of nice chilled orange juice.
Having said that, I hope the cheaters/racists/bad umpires etc get their due punishments. India and Aus...bring on a good game. Thats all that matters.
Abt congratulating whoever who wins cannot be compared with congratulating a drug addict...u hv lost all common sense in finding good examples to compare with...best of luck next time with that! :) My policy in life is to congratulate who wins..if they were wrong and their victory is disqualified, I'll take my well-wishes back. Til then u stick to ur own policy, and I'll stick to mine ok.
tnxx for ur thoughts on this!
Keshi.
And Deshi one more thing...no hard feelings ok. I dun like being angry over such issues as Sport.
besides, i also thought that if Indians put this much effort and passion into other REAL issues in their country, it would be much better for alot of Indians out there. Im not the only one who said this, ur own countrymen mentioned that in this column.
THE POINT IS: Spend time, energy, emotions, passion on something that'll really make a difference. Cricket is only a game, ICC will handle unfair issues, fans should move on and blog abt real issues in this world and work on em.
Peace out! TC.
Keshi.
I ws only thinking about you when the Cricket was going on :D
You know why ;)
I am glad what you say and you stick to it ;)
Cheers dear
hehe tnxx Dawny MWAH!
lovely to know that u sometimes think of me when ur outside the blog too. sweet of ya!
Keshi.
"hv u ever been overseas or lives n worked overseas? Guess not."
I have.
"Do they ever teach u that in ur land? To look beoynd skin color and accept ppl for WHO they r? I guess not. "
They do. My land practically invented it. And stop guessing now; you are bad at it.
The last quoted comment exemplifyies my point. You find it easy to pour vitriol on those that disagree with you, "whingers", "hissies", "bad losers" and what not, but cant take a dose of your own medicine. A bit like Aussie cricketers, I would say. After letting you have your say, we should "chillax" and move on. And after having been bummed for 2 test in a row, the Indian team should move on to the third!
When you are in a less combative mood, reflect on why this post has given you so much feedback, and also why this loss has been contested. If it were "just" about any ol' match, you may not have felt the need to write so long post, or answer each comment so angrily.
Well it seriously does not matter however I am still aggrieved over the issue that never seems to die thanks to the media which keeps rubbing it in. It feels like the issue would never stop.
Besides, sports is perceived differently elsewhere, everywhere. India has got support from England and Oz locals too but to keep talking about it endlessly like there are no issues in the world that matter is what is pissing me off big time.
Deshi change ur nic to Videshi. cos ur very own 'anger' an prolonged hissy fit over this is tainting ur 'Indianness'. If u really luv ur country, do it a favor by not 'judging' other ppl and their lifestyles overseas, especially when u hv no clue abt it. Besides, like someone else said here, I may be 'Indian'/'Sri Lankan' but I dun live in India. So stop judging me from the angle of ur lifestyle. No person can entirely grasp another person's life and feelings, especially when they live in another country. Besides, a whole lot of Indians hv migrated to Aus n r living happy n independent lives over here, than they wud hv in their own country. The 2nd lartgest migration community in Aus is INDIAN. Aus Indians dun face Caste/Gender/Status etc issues over here. So dun doubt the equality of humans over in this land.
Always remember that 'you get what you give'. If u continue to see 'racism' in others, u will get that kind of treatment in return too. So, u get what u give. I hv lived here for so long, and I hv lived in SL too. And in both countries, I hv faced no racist issues. Cos I choose to see the 'humanness' in ppl...not their race.
I didnt ans anybody in anger here...read some comments from Indians who r using the F word all over. Wut d u say abt them? Surely u overlooked them cos u wanted to solely point fingers at me. Not surprised here :). I didnt use any bad words here or racist words...wonder what made u think Im angry. Infact I dun wanna make this Cricket issue a 'patriotism' issue like u guys wanna. Until u realise that, u'll never get over this. I hv moved on, hv ya? Im not the ICC, neither r ya, so stop losing sleep over this. It may not sound very 'Indian' to do that, but it's so much more 'wiser' to do that :)
Anyways best of luck and thanks! Me smilin here...r u? :) I hope so.
And abt my long post here and heavy feedback, well take a look at my other posts even dating back to 3yrs...I always write long posts (on any issue) and I always get over 100+ comments. U may be new to this.
Now wuts for tea? :)

Vik I totally agree! tnxx!
Keshi.
Deshi, one more thing...go read Vik's latest post...the guy who's right below ur comment. He's got exactly wut I wanted to convey.
Keshi.
If someone cheated, punish him for his ACT...not for his RACE.
Keshi.
To be listed in your blog is an honor. So don't humble me any further by asking the question. I just wrote what I felt and did not realize it was that good - actually [:D]
That test match was totally out of control. The umpires did not use the technology available to them, furthermore the umpires succumbed to the Australians and their bully boy antics, being an Australian myself for forty years I still wince at the sheer arrogance of the Oz team, particularly the teeth grinding, hate faced. air punching of that blonde -failed Bollywood actor and weetbix munching twit, It may be fun to some, but not the majority, the News/p polls were indicative of that.
Go to my blog for my further opinion on the test. Up to now I have received three death threats from win at all costs angry Aussies.
Keshi: a good post from a true ozzie. No I shall not boycott you for having a slightly misplaced opinion on a stupid cricket game. luvs ya darling vest,XXX
Best test match I saw as a Kid of 12 was in 1938 Aug 22,23, 24,I paid nine shillings (One Oz Dollar)to watch the last three days of Eng v Aus at Lords, when Eng Beat Aus by an innings and 579 runs.
BTW you never see or hear mention of that test match in Australia, I wonder why?.
Southpaw: enjoyed reading your opinion.
Vik tnxx!
I hv linked ur post to this post as I dun want ppl to start discussing Cricket again in my new post ***rolling eyes*** :):)
----------------------------------
Vest I agree with ya..I aint saying Aussies were being good :)
**Up to now I have received three death threats from win at all costs angry Aussies.
LOL isnt that same way some Indians behaved calling up Ponting's parents' home...burning the Aussie flag etc etc?
Anyways wut Im trying to say is no one is PERFECT :)
tnxx!
Keshi.
A very good report on the beauty of the sport.
I read your blog yesterday as well.
Cheers and God bless.
tnxx Ori! :)
Keshi.
Well, interestin' post! Benson-Bucknor, Roy-Bhajji, Kumble-Ponting et al - the stars of this flick called 'Not cricket, but everything beyond' was a downer, in literal terms, to the extent that the fissures and the cracks made to this game during the first week of this brand new year are bound to have the most defining repercussions the game has ever seen.
Hope I'm proven wrong..a li'l sanity restored at the WACA a week later..
and yeah, I didn't say that just coz' the Indians won..
Purv tnxx!
And Im glad India proved their competency.
Keshi.
Its Apurv! :) competency? yeah! glad that the game's been resuscitated as well, 'coz of the way the game was played and also the WACA upset.. Looks like upsets come in pairs, since Tennis also faced the same with Fed's exit from the Open the same week. Atleast someone else won's the point..
