Point of this post is not about racism as you may have thought...it's about the Ebony and Ivory in you. Have you pointed a finger at anyone else? When you do, have you noticed that 3 other fingers are pointing towards yourself? Need I say more :) What I want to highlight in this post is that we all make mistakes...all of us are good and all of us are bad... no one is error-free and no one is perfect. Human error is the biggest trait about us that keeps us perfectly human :) The imperfect perfection of being human. The reality of you and me is that we are both good and bad. But that should not make us sit and sulk about it or point fingers at others. What it should do is make us seek for better human qualities such as Acceptance (of your Ebony), Sharing (of your Ivory), Forgiveness (for their Ebony) and Gratitude (for their Ivory).
So you have some Ebony in you and as well as some Ivory. But how many of us are ready to accept our weaknesses? No one! But all of us would love to speak of our strengths. Nothing wrong with that but we must accept that we have weaknesses too. Self-righteousness is the result of a terrible ego. What we must have is a healthy ego - one that preserves our self-respect but one that does not humiliate others - atleast that's what I think. But if that ego over-flows, self-righteousness sprouts. I'm-always-right-you-are-always-wrong kind of attitude. It will bring so much pain to you later in life...'cos people who care for you will be afraid of you...run away from you 'cos to be around you would be like to be around a bossy teacher who always points fingers at his/her students. Instead, try and be like a student among other students...know your Ebony and accept them...learn to apologise for your weaknesses instead of covering them. Also know your Ivory...flaunt them (yes :) and teach others to be better. And then know the Ebony of others too...tell them when they are wrong instead of approving them in fear of rejection and forgive them when they accept their faults. Get to know their Ivory as well...learn from them instead of being jealous and thank them for sharing.
Self-development begins when you recognise that you too can be wrong sometimes and that others too can be right many a times.
Now who's game enough to speak of their worst Ebony...and best Ivory? You are most welcome to point out my worst Ebony and best Ivory too. Oh ok, let me start then...

I am man with simple rules in life..
1) I admit and apologize when I made mistakes and expect the same from others, if not, I will be pissed off.
2) I will be nice to people who are nice to me and animals, if not, I will be pissed off.
3) I listen and respect to people’s opinion even if I disagree and expect the same from others to mine, if not I will be pissed off.
4) I don’t like to say “I don’t know” but instead I would say “I am not too sure but will find out” and expect the same from my colleagues / subordinates, if not, I will be pissed off.
5) I don’t like to be some smart ass (must be right all the times) and expect the same from others, if not, I will be pissed off.
6) I will make jokes when the occasion calls for it but if someone "over do" it, I will be pissed off
I am by nature a kind and nice guy but usually people tend to make me to be so unforgiving. That is something I don’t like about me. I wish if I don’t have to work or bump into assholes who always change me from Mr. Niceguy to Mr. Rudeguy.
My level of patience is very slim and that is why I wish if nobody will hurt me… because when I am angry, it ain’t pretty!
One of my negative point is my temper. I get anger very fast. Positive thing on that is it flows down also as quickly as it comes.
Whenever I become angry on my loved ones, mujhe hansi aa jati hai, i mean i can't control my laugh, coz I can't remain angry for long time.
Good thing bout me is well there are plenty :) :) :)... I am very adjustible in various situation/condition.

my worst ebony - temper and harshness to others - i take offense easily - i have consciously tried to be mellow down and to a extent succeeded, but it's ongoing work. advice to anyone with similar problem: always take a time out when offended. as you say It will bring so much pain to you later in life...'cos people who care for you will be afraid of you...run away from you 'cos to be around you would be like to be around a bossy teacher who always points fingers at his/her students. - hope i can avoid that fate.
my best ivory - how to choose from so many :-) - i have a terrible ego too as you see- hmmmm.... my independence - i am my own man. may be that is not a good thing in some ppls thinking but i have always valued that above everything else.

What i wanted to ask, has already been mentioned by some fellow bloggers - why is that ebony signifies 'negative aspects'? If ebony and ivory are the 2 ppl on that pic, i think both are equally cute! So why dont we consider ivory to be negative, for a change? Why alwez poor ebony? :)))
I totally agree with what u said.. No one is perfect.. U know what, this is something i alwez say -> When we laugh at the mistakes that someone else did, we shud keep it in the back of our heads that this 'someone' is capabale of making u look like a fool, when it comes to some other walk of life! :)
Everyone has their own strengths! No one is born inferior... So we got no right, to laugh at ppl for their mistakes!

ok ok for guys who asked why is Ebony considered negative here....that's why I said at the start of the post that this is not abt racism...I wanted to take Ebony as Dark qualitites and Ivory as Light qualities...simple as that - not that I thought being black is negative and being white is positive in terms of people - No way!
Ebony as Dark qualitites...and Ivory as Light qualities...that's all. And yes they live in perfect harmony within u, but would u accept that harmony in another? We usually like to point out other ppl's Ebony and boast our Ivory...so this post was abt accepting that harmony in another too and leanring from it :)

I was the... one with a phone-smashing temper- lol i am trying hard to imagine that!
I cry at the slightest offense lol! But lately I have become very strong...cos words said by ppl that dun matter to me is no big deal...but if someone close offends me, I's feel very hurt and angry. - closer they are the greater the anger and hurt isn't it.
I will come back to Anger in a different comment...cos alot of us seem to suffer from it lol!- great idea!
it's almost comforting to know that lot of others suffer from anger. shows how we are all the same with same problems.
Are u a Buddhist by any chance? If so, u wud know that Anger is a wasted emotion...that being angry only wastes ur energy and burn u inside. - i understand what you are saying and the buddhist teaching on anger. btw i am not a buddhist, i do not follow any religion. my father is buddhist, my mother is a catholic, i got to learn both religions when a child, which was great. i think i was lucky that way.

There is no one at home who annoys me. But its my fault or my ebony of short temper, which makes me such of small and unnecessary things, childishness I can say, or that "Male Ego" sometime pops up. Which is bad on my part so I am trying not wear Ego anytime. But sometimes mistakes do happen.
And and and,,,, I will not get angry so fast on ur sweet request of new post :).
Was drowned in bit of work these days, so just visited few of the blogs with which i am assiduous to like urs, Gangadhar's, Sumi, Smyta and so many to name ;).
