Girls girls girls...my Chalrlies' Angels (Uttsy and st000nie;-) and all the other beautiful and smart angels here...honestly tell me how many of you are 'decently' Independent? uh oh...before telling me that, you must tell me what Independence means to each of you...to me it means enjoying my freewill to the fullest, having my own money, space, peace and freedom to think, speak, do whatever I want without having to feel guilty about it and hurting anyone's feelings.
I think women of this era have come a long way since the olden days...they have evolved from mere housewives to smart working housewives and super mums...from mere daughters to intelligent and financially independent working women...from dependents to breadwinners of familes...from basically nothing to THE ONLY thing ;-) Women have always been an essential part of the society and family...if not for women there won't be a mother, daughter, sister and a damn smart friend around..hehe...boys chill - you are equivalent in all that too. But some men make their women so dependent on them that these women have no freedom to do what they want. I have friends who are smart and having good positions at work but they still depend on their husbands/dads/boyfriends etc for many many things that they shouldn't really be dependent for. I don't mean that they shouldn't be dependent at alll and that they should totally run free...everyone needs to depend on someone somehow...but it should never be gender-driven and a total invasion of individual freedom. Personal freedom and space is as important as much as mutual consent and respect. My mum was a housewife and although my mum and dad loved each other alot, she was completely dependent on my dad for many things...for money and many decisions. Her whole world revolved around my dad. And when dad died she was at a complete loss...but being the smarty that she is, she picked up and survived. But she did go through alot to arrive at that, as a result of her total dependence on dad before his death. Times have changed...but I still know of some women who won't do anything without their men's consent. Even if that means choosing someone to marry, wearing certain clothes, going out with the girls, drinking and dancing etc..what say...how many of you too know such women?
All I can say is...do what you like girls and be independent in your thinking as long as it won't demean you or your loved ones...being smart and doing a great job aren't enough to set you free in life...just think independant. That doesnt mean being stubborn and not listening to the people you love, but it means thinking for yourself and doing what you think is right as long as it doesn't hurt someone else. All the women who are Independent throw your hands above me...c'mon now ;-)

DAMN U !
u done it again
u posted such lovely girl pics
i cudnt resist
hey me 1st.. Happy New Yr Keshi..
FUCK !
i read dis post
she is beginning to sound like Oprah
she is attempting to mould the girls and the men's opinions too
to her way of tinking
to wat is cool
and wat is not
as long as u have needs and
the need to fulfill these needs
u cannot be truly independent
the need to be loved is the most crippling of all needs
and Maslow failed to list dis need in his heirachy of needs
Gandhi-ji got rid of most of his needs
even sex
The last pic was kinda...aheemmm...lols
***but it means thinking for yourself and doing what you think is right as long as it doesn't hurt someone else.***Hope this starts happening really soon.
haha a topic that has been on ma mind awesome stuff. I truly support this post. Being independent is juz awesome or the thought of it. :) haha! AWesome post gurl!!and i truly agree.. i once knew this lady. she is hot alright. well maybe traditional hot. treated like a princess by her hubs. and he is rich of course. and well she always being chauffered around and all. and suddenly when he passed away. she was at lost. and didn;t even know how to take public transport. she was totally lost. and no one was really there to help her find her way. till one of ma friend who was helping her sell her house away gave her some advice and she still goes..i dun know in fear of living a different kind of life. and he had to like wake her up slightly firmly in order to get her moving. and she has been doing well lately. happy for her.. but it just shows how impt. it is for women to be able to stand on their two feet and make a decision. not riding over completely but at least decently.:) at least when a man leave or dies u know ur life still can have a punch. lovin it! Totally support this whole " being independent topic" Rock totally babe! OUCH!
as you mentioned keshi, being independent might be defined differently by each of us. i work, i earn, i think and say what i want, as long as it doesnt hurt others, i buy what i want, i eat what i what. but, i also dress in a manner which won`t hurt the image of my parents or loved ones. heck, i would like to wear a mini skirt, but i won`t. not because i`d be berated, but i wouldn`t want to put the ones i value in a position to question my sense of dressing. controlled independence, is how i`d describe myself.
on top of that, i love being pampered. i love the fact that i do not need to worry about money or bills. or my car. my house. or anything that would make me tear my hair out. i love the fact i am dependant on my hubby to be when it comes to certain matters.
in today`s world, nothing is a simple yes or no. there is always a "between". everything should be in moderation. even independence, i think.
but love, gal, in abundance :)
hey keshi juz came to say hi n see how u were doin...been busy lol..examz next week n i cant seem to make myself study..wutz up how u been
I'm NOT independent..as much as i hate to admit it..and i know it so well..
I'm dependent on alot of things and people around me..no, i don't have a boyfren that i'm refering to (although i used to have one)..i'm still very much dependent on my family, for example..I don't know what i'll do without my sis..even thinking of she leaving for further studies later this year giving me nightmares :(((((((((((
financial wise..hmm..still dependent on my parents, but won't be the case from next month onwards..me working part time already..phhhewww..thats a huge relief :)
hugsss

Woo hooo Keshi ....
I think I am fairly independent. Atleast , abt my decisions ....
i have had cousins breaking up w/ me coz they couldnt stand my independence ....
i have had friends drifting away coz i wouldnt change my decisiions to suit them. ...
But yes , i am dependent to a great extent on my parents .... esp when it comes to taking certain decisions involving financial stuff like investments ... blah .. blah .. blah ...
and i am dependent on my best buddy when i am in an emotional turmoil .... i need to talk to my buddy when i feel i'll go crazy ...
but i wear what i want , i do my hair the way i want ... and i behave the way i want ...
and i dont think i'll ever give up my independence ....
i might adjust to suit my parents but would never trample upon my desires and wishes ...
and i would never change my thinking for somebody else's sake ... not even if itz the most important person in my life ....
and my actions , i am justifiable only to myself
@ ur comments on the previous post :
Well , the guy in qn likes keeping his personal stuff to himself ... he doesnt want the entire world to watch him ...
he kinda believes in " Live n let live " .. infact , he doesnt bother abt other people's lives either ...
i too thought the same way initially , now i find myself respecting him .. not for his views , but for his character
grrrrrrrrrrrr
a post a day...
now I'll have to think of throwing something else at u ;-)
hehehehe kidding
lovely looking girls...

I am independenttttttttt... Keshi ..
well i am - though im hoping i dont have to change much in the future i like how i am dont like depending on anyone for anything
*Throws her hands up in the air! ;)
Grreat post mate!
I totaly agree with you on this one. I mean just live as individuals and thats all thats needed. The world would be an amazing place if we all did this.
Independence, being able to do things you want to without screwing them up,bcos in the end if you have to call someone to clean the mess,thenn...:)
But most often a girl who does not need a battalion of people with her,for instance ,to go to the toilet, is treated as an alien.
***but it means thinking for yourself and doing what you think is right as long as it doesn't hurt someone else.***
you see the thin line over there....thing which you yhink is right may hurt somone else...its all about making your preferences as to what bothers you more, what will make you more happy, doin things ur way or takin care of the feelings of others. this is the normal delima every body faces...if you donn do what u wann to it makes you sad and even if u di it the other persons face makes u feel'not so good'. Independece is not by action its by thought...even if go by others decision but by ur own wish u r independent.
Salaam womanhood.
and the long legged babe in the last pic is hot ;)
http://amitken.wordpress.com
Keshi, I smell a revolution! :-)
But did you also think about all these independent men out there? If their wife dies or leaves they're sooooo helpless. Can't wash or clean or even cook a fried egg... because their wife or their mommie did it all their life for them.
So once more is clear: the men are the real poor guys!! But they don't write big posts in the internet. They suffer in silence.
Hahaha!
Yes... the pics were really lovely ;) ... I'm sure a lot of curiosity was aroused just seeing them images :) .... u r a very intelligent lady!
As for the post, I'm totally for everyone being independent as far as possible.... coz' in India, it really is the case that many women are overly dependent on their husbands, with the wife being totally clueless about important stuff like finances... and that's really bad.... kinda sad....
But, in marriages, there is just too much stuff to be managed, and so the responsibilities are split up according to their competencies... and that is absolutely essential .... but, prudence requires that both partners be absolutely aware of all crucial details so that things never come to a standstill....
Hats off to ur Mom for being able to manage everything! She is surely a strong, brave and courageous lady!
It's good to be independent, but sometimes I feel a man's touch is needed to make a gurl's life complete :)
Ohmigosh! what is with the women in blogosphere? I think this is the third post on gender that I've read this week! I've myself made two posts. You can read them here and here
Great post! I am independent and I agree with you :D
i was thinking the whole day about independence after i read ur post for the day.......
well keshi girl
i am a mixture of both ....i am dependent on my 3+1 a lot .the love, caring sharing ,.....and the listner in the them the motivator, the critics that they are and so on and so forth .....
but ....yes at the same time i am indendent .in my thoughts, my attitude.....my ways ...my activities....financially toonow that i have started to work ,,,......still
i guess strike a balance between the two and get a good partners who could understand u and ur life is made
Take care sweetie and hava wonderful weekend
Love u
Ash
Just being Curious...
Did someone question your soverignity recently..??
hihi
great post..!
Kannan
LOL... Looking at how men drool over the pics you post, I am sure why not many of them will ever discuss more over this article. ;)
Looking around me (where I stay, where I work, and where I live my average life), I find that most men are supportive of independent women. In fact, I am happy to see many of us encourage our female counterparts to think independent.
That said, I must also express my deep concern that many women, here, don't seem to be ready to do so. I find, around me, women who have strong reservations against your ideas.
It is not their fault, they are just buried under ages of orthodox beliefs, absurd morals, stringent conventions, and inhumane regulations. They have not yet been able to fully break free.
I hope they do. Cheers to you for the article.
**SMILES**
P.S.: The pics were just so-so. :)

.
Mannnnnnnnnnnnnn
When are you girls stop Comparing.
Does girls have no identity of there own without comparing them wid Boys?Or is it even an issue?
But must say the third pic really Rocks ;)
comments were asked from charlies angels...so what should I say. If those beautiful pictures are of some independent girls then I will say girls go for it...
Charlie dear On the serious note, I will say and I believe every man or woman should be independent from each other...woman for money, job, decision etc...and man for houshold work, grocery, cooking etc.
Unfortunately inspite of all this man have to depend on woman at least for one thing if go by natural way.
"That doesnt mean being stubborn and not listening to the people you love, but it means thinking for yourself and doing what you think is right as long as it doesn't hurt someone else."
I Totally SUPPORT THY CAUSE!
:)
Cheers for the InDependent woman!
keshi......
WONDERFUL POST!!
hugs!
hats off to you... u write sooooo well !!
"everyone needs to depend on someone somehow...but it should never be gender-driven and a total invasion of individual freedom"
I agree. I live in a place where everyone is inter-dependent on one another. It's just a fact of life and it's nice really.
Lemme first drool over the pics.. then if i find time after tht will read ur post :p
lol..
u betta stop posting these pics n go back to cartoons coz i wont evr have time for the reading then.. he he he
Both sexes r dependent on each other exception being gay/lesbians
Jokes apart.. independence is a must for each n every individual (though ur post was gal-specific) in his/her defn
gal's independence is a must... if moi gal asks me everything she wants to do i would better kick her butt first n tell her to read this post :)
Counting how many hands r raised so tht i can keep a track of all those lovely n independent lasses here :p
i think men kinda think it to be nice (boosting their ego) when his girl depends on him. but as the society has gradually moved on from a patriarchal one, today's girls dont really sacrifice their independence just for the sake of making her man feel good.
Cultural revolution...such an interesting phenomenon.
im independent ony wen i hav no otha choice...tht way im pretty dependent :(
*throws her hand up @ keshi neway*
lol can i b beyonce? :P
hey keshi....
thanx for stoppin by my post...(its a lil sleepy rite now...but im hopin it will look a lil better in 2-3 months.) anywayz....ur post is full of life! keep it up.

I wonder when will i be able to throw my hands up.
u cannot love another
until u first love your self
i dunno who said dis but its true
dis is true independence
loving to spend time wid yourself
wid your tots
loving your body
pleasuring your self
and when u have a lover
u must guide him how to
U go gal....am just there ....You said it alll.....:D
awesome post love....
huggzzzz
Keshi, I have been too busy to blog, looks like I missed quite a lot of posts.
But the sun is finally out today! And time for some Vitamin D!!
You enjoy ur weekend!
how many gals still have their hands ? did all of em throw it over keshi? :D
Good post keshi...very well said
I am not independent at all..but i'm dying to be...I seriously hope to further my studies abroad (like my sis) after my bachelors..and i guess thats when I'll finally get my whiff of freedom..I'm a social person..and i seriously like spending a lot of time with my buds much to my parents displeasure
I would like to earn and live on my own for sumtime..I guess i need that small bit of life experience...to dress, socialise and eat as i wish at my own pace...rite now, its all a dream waiting to be unleashed
Hey nice post! was passing by..and really liked it!:)
I'm not a hard core feminist...but I TOTALLY AGREE ON THE WOMEN/GALS DEPENDING ON THEIR MEN!!!It bugs me too...*frown*
wow!!!! honeyyyyy.......blog rockkkkkkkkkkkk.....musical blog....grt ride for eyes, ear and brain...hehehe...
i am independent, i don't care what anyone thinks of me, and the rest is all me too.
Nice post there, and nice pics too :)
And yes as u said, not all women are independent (although they ought to be).
today is sunday

Now the focus is on sex and marriage-, how we dont have sex before marriage and then we discover our wives are not sexually compatible.,

Hi..
after a long time..
Nice post..
But though i do believe in individual freedom..but im also a staunch believer of
WITH FREEDOM CMS A GREAT RESPONSIBILITY..so im responsible for my freedom for my parents..
ANd though i might nt b smconservative 1..but im also no feminist..so i believe tht all of us imposed with certain rights and duties..which are subjected to the peaceful existance..between a MAN AND A WOMAN:)

"...thinking for yourself and doing what you think is right as long as it doesn't hurt someone else."
Amen sista!!!! I recently quite my job of 10 years due to the fact that I was being treated unfaily!!! I am making things happen with Gods will. Women ring proud and dont take crap off anyone!!!
I try to live by "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Maybe I should change my mantra... GREAT POST!!! VERY INPOWERING FOR ALL US WOMEN!!!
Thank you for the insperation!!
SSB :-D
wish you a great start to the week ! :-)
hope you had a nice weekend.
nice post
since you are specifically asking women a question here, i should not take too much space,
i think you have defined independence nicely.
imo not only women but lot of men fail to live up to that standard of independence.
how many people (male or female) really think for themselves for instance, instead of outsourcing the whole process to family members, bosses and politicians.
most ppl are guilt ridden bunch of babes.
person who is not independent might as well be dead imo and nobody will notice .
Personal freedom and space is as important as much as mutual consent and respect - you right on there.
btw i have known several really independent women starting with my mother. i was lucky i suppose. :-)

Rock it babez ;-)
***Still_Figuring_Out
Hey SFO how's it going?
**but i wouldn`t want to put the ones i value in a position to question my sense of dressing. controlled independence, is how i`d describe myself.
I totally understand that SFO. Coming from Indian families we girls only have controlled Independence n certain aspects of life...that's so true.
**i love the fact i am dependant on my hubby to be when it comes to certain matters.
for sure! We have to depend on ourfamily members for many things...very true, it's great to be pampered.
** everything should be in moderation. even independence, i think.
exactly what I wanna say. We cant say we r totally indepedent. But atleast we r independent than some girls who r fully dependent on their men...that's not healthy.
Thank u so much SFO, that was eye-opening...
***Tanvi
oiiiiii Tanvi I missed ya tonz! Hope u'll come back soon :(
***Amutha
Amuuuuuu muahhhhh!
I think u will be ok one's u start working Amu...financial Independence comes in then :)
**I don't know what i'll do without my sis..
Emotional Independence is a hard thing to achieve...cos we all depend on our loved ones for that no matter what we say. It's good to be like that and we cant help loving our loved-ones...I guess it's pretty normal :)
Keshi.
...I guess it's pretty normal :)
i hate the word NORMAL
all great ideas have come from geniuses and so called IDIOTS
Normality has come from stat theory
i.e. 99.76 % of the population
i say the majority are fools
they voted BUSH
didnt they?
Forest Gump was considered to be an idiot

**But yes , i am dependent to a great extent on my parents .... esp when it comes to taking certain decisions involving financial stuff like investments ... blah .. blah .. blah ...
that is perfectly fine...it's normal dependence we all have on our loved-ones...

Like I said to Amu, Emotional independence is not something we mortals can achieve...maybe we can but that's if he we abandon Earthly pleasures and go meditating :) hehe...

**Well , the guy in qn likes keeping his personal stuff to himself ... he doesnt want the entire world to watch him ...
he kinda believes in " Live n let live " .. infact , he doesnt bother abt other people's lives either ...
sorry to say this Deepz lol...but I think he DOES bother abt other ppl's lives...cos that's why he's so worried abt what other ppl think :) 'Live and let live' is for ppl who r not nosy and curious abt others and ppl who dun care so much abt what others think...so it's quite a contradiction isnt it?
I dunno ur friend but Im saying this based on what u said above...
**i too thought the same way initially , now i find myself respecting him .. not for his views , but for his character
respecting his actions is one thing...but placing your opinion abt his actions, as a friend is altogether another thing. But yeah, let him do what he wants...it's his life na :)
Anyways thanks Deepz :)

**Independece is not by action its by thought...even if go by others decision but by ur own wish u r independent
not really...I mean even if u think independent but did something to make someone else feel good, would u be happy? I guess not. Cos deep down u still would wish that u did what u wanted to do. So I think all 3 independences - in thinking, speaking and doing matters...
thanks very much!

We r not comparing Coolvir :) It's a known fact that most Indian women r not independent...we cant ignore that fact :) So we r addressing that issue here...hehe...thats all. Ofcourse women have their own identity...some of them r forced to hide it cos of their men and traditions. That's why Im saying for these women to learn to depend on themselevs and be who they really r...

true...learn each others' chores and be prepared...
**Unfortunately inspite of all this man have to depend on woman at least for one thing if go by natural way.

**I would like to earn and live on my own for sumtime..I guess i need that small bit of life experience...to dress, socialise and eat as i wish at my own pace...rite now, its all a dream waiting to be unleashed
so true...I always wanted to live on my own too and perhaps do what I like to do w.o. anyone interfering my decisions all the time...but na, Im not so lucky in that way...but hell yeah I think for myself and take my own decision in the end. Altho I'd love to get to know myself a bit more - that can only be done if I live alone and it wont happen, I just know...

Fantastic Post dear...
Yes the trend is changing no doubt abt it...
smart working housewives
well that I'm yet to see more...
Ofcourse so far for me my Mom tops the list... and she will always do that... :-))
I have seen a lot of smart working women...
coz most of my friends are not married or recently married...
so now only the time will prove if they can crown themselves as smart working housewives...
I hope they do :-))
Its no big deal for me...
I've seen my mom working since I was a kid... not only her some of my aunts also work n manage the home...
bt still more to see from my generation...
just think independant. That doesnt mean being stubborn and not listening to the people you love
muaaaaahhhh
those are the golden words...
U are definitely gonna be a smart working housewife ;-)
if those words are kept in mind am sure all the working ladies after marriage wud be crownd as smart working housewifes...
great post sweeti
Cheers
>>y mum was a housewife and although my mum and dad loved each other alot, she was completely dependent on my dad for many things...for money and many decisions.
Same here at my home too.....
Hats off to your MOM....
Cheers!
:)
Yes, Independence is more to do with freedom of thought. If one is given liberty to think independently, that should be it.
I didnt get
"from dependents to breadwinners of familes...from basically nothing to THE ONLY thing ;-)"
and,
" but it means thinking for yourself and doing what you think is right as long as it doesn't hurt someone else"
isnt that the life all about?
wtf keshi.....what primitive world are u living in??
It is time we guys shud raise a voice against gals for being independant. We have to ask gals if we shud have a drag, we have to ask them if what we wear will not embarass them, we have to ask them when we shud go to the movie, and when we shud leave it halfway thru.....the list is endless. Gals NEVER ask us what to wear...well they do.....but then we are afraid to voice our opinion, since we are done for if we express one in favour or against it.
No no.....u r graavely mistaken....it is us guys who shud be independant.....really independant. :P
talldarkman
PS: btw...bindassohni says hi to u....on my blog...:)
hmmmm u r right! anyway u don't want men's opinion here :)
"from basically nothing to THE ONLY "

**what happened? anything wrong?
what d u mean? :)
***Phoenix
hey thanks :)
Keshi.
the more tings change
the more they remain the same
i havent the faintest idea
wat dis means
but it sounds profound
used to be a time when orthodox families wudnt want their bahus to work
but now u cant run a family on a single income
working wives is a necessitty
now u find hindu woomen in films, in the airlines, in hotels, in call centres
all these careers used to be a no no, only a few years back
what d u mean? :)
it seems to have been rather quiet here yesterday.
***Saby
yes nowadays women r in almost every industry...and they are half of the breadwinner in the family.
***Niki
lol yeah I know my comment section is getting rather long...hehe...just search for NIKI as that's how I address u na :)
***Sittingnut
hey yes..yday was a busy day at work as well as during lunch time..hence the silence :):)
Keshi.
lol Laks let me check it out...
anyways rem that they shouldnt be too independent...no one should be..not even men. I mean we have to be 'decently' independent...but being too independent wont make great partners :)
Thanks..
Keshi.
