One Way Ticket

Heyy guys how's it going? Hope all is well with all of you. Recently I came across a dear blogger mate's post regarding WHAT-IFs. You know, wondering what if he did this that way or that this way etc etc. We all think of this kind of thing every now and then. I have so many What-Ifs too. I mean my life would have been very different then. But would it be any better than what it is right now? I really can't tell that can I? It would have been better or even worse! And who knows what I will be thinking then? I probably would be thinking the same What-Ifs :). So yeah, what I wanted to say is that though we can't totally avoid thinking about the What-Ifs in life, there's really no point in worrying about such things or thinking that you'd be better off if you did that than this etc. Cos we can never go back in time and change that. What we have right now is what we were supposed to have. That's how I think of it. Have you seen the movie Sliding Doors? it's something like that. Yes we may be on a different path if we made a different choice, but even then we would be wondering about the other path that we didn't take. Life is all about choices and you can only make one choice at a time. That's what's been given to us and I like to think that where we are right now is where we are supposed to be. Life's choices are like a one-way ticket. Once we make the choice to go on a certain path (in any situation), we are travelling down that path and there's no way we can come back. Even if we choose to take a different path after a while, we have already travelled that previous path. So all I can say is enjoy the ride and grasp the beauty of that trip. Never regret the path you took cos it's part of your learning process and it's where your instincts took you. So even though that path may not turn out to be the best or the most beautiful, the ticket was purchased and you're on your way...so you might as well make it beautiful yourself and learn what it tries to teach you.

Having said all that, right now I feel like buying a one-way ticket to nowhere hehe. Would be nice to go on a trip that I don't have to return from, somewhere far away, away from all the mundane stuff, somewhere where I don't have to worry about waking up to routine or where I'm not treated like a blown-up bimbo. Yeah I'd like to go where there's no heartache...where I'd be alone on a ride to nowhere...going without an aim...going without a specific destination...and I'd stop at heartbreak hotel for a while...and then I'd continue...and I hope I don't forget to take my notebook so I can tell you all about it ;-) yeah blogging is a must even on the moon. Stay gold guys!

The "what if" and "if only" words always on my mind after i did something, & i hate it ;p
worst again...i'll feel regret for what i've done.

What If's and all that still lead to thinking, in the now, and that can alter our choices, affecting the future. It is like time travelling. ha!
Rock on!

I have at least a million "what if?'s"

I bought a one way ticket this summer out west. I knew I was coming back home, but didn't know when. It was the most liberating feeling ever.

Right now, I might like to buy a one-way ticket with no plans of a return home. Some place like you described would be nice. LOL. Don't worry...I'd keep everyone updated on my new life. Like you said, blogging is a must--even on the moon! :)

Hi Keshi

First, have you not seen a dead person wearing sunglasses? The coffin adds to the overall effect. I knew I have a sadistic side, but now I find you do too. LOL We had to blacken the eyes to hide her identity. It is very funny! LOL

Your topic reminded me of the movie “Somewhere In Time.” (I think that’s the title.) The late Chris Reeves stars in it. He sees a picture of a woman and falls in love with her. He is then transported back to the time when she was alive.

We all get a ticket to ride—we never know when the ride will end.

I think we both need a good dose of humor. LOL

love u girl

what ifs is the uncertainty that makes us difficult to make that choice!!

certainly once u make the choice its all urs! but its better than someone else making the choice for you and then having to regret over it!!

Well said Keshi...I soo totally agree with you...its all about choices n once we have selected our path, no use wondering n thinking about the what-if's if we had selected another option.....I just keep regretting things & keep thinking as to where wud I have been & what wud I be doing IF i had done something else in LIFE....so gurl, today once again your post makes me realise that I shud be happy n content n moreover enjoy what LIFE has to offer Me at this very moment....Thanks Keshi for posting this...your post is a self-check and taking stock of what am doing right now..love ya..take care & have a nice day :)

What if's.. hmm I have way too many of those.. before I used to even think of those. But now I have just accept the choice I make and try to make the best out of it. I think it is really hard to be happy with the decision we choose. There are times we know that we have made the right choice, but again then we feel what if.. I feel the words what if come out more out of regret than anything else. Sadly or Luckily (depends on how you see it), I dont really regret any of the choices or decisions I have made.

Ticket to nowhere.. hmm.. I dont know if that is available, but if u can find it can u also buy one for me, pls? :)

I have always KNOWN where Im going, when Im coming back, who Im gonna be with etc etc. To me thats become BORING :) I mean always knowing everything and all that routine!

Been there done that.

**Well, may be you take off for a month to wherever you always wanted to go, that would be fun :))

Been there done that too, far too many times :) and even that isnt so appealing to me anymore.

**Hope you try when you are unattached and still young, unlike me:))Good luck.....

keshi - i know what u mean about wanting to get away from the routine & mundane, and getting a one-way ticket; and i have done that a few times in my life! (but not for a while now) it's always a challenge & usually a great experience ... altho, ironically, u can often finish up eventually appreciating (or maybe even missing) what u are getting away from. still, like i said, rarely would u regret going on that journey! ;-D

so wow u like the Buddhist philosophy too - yes as u say, it is more a philosophy, way of life & state of mind than anything. i also have some interest in learning more about Hinduism ... i read the 'Bhagavad Gita' ealier this year & that was interesting. i am interested to learn more about all the Hindu Deities but at present i think that my favourite might be Ganesh!?!

Dawn I know wut ur friend means...one of my friends did that too...quit his highly-paid medical profession and went ard the world...he sends post-cards from far-away places...I dunno when/if he'll return. Sounds really magical.

**present i think that my favourite might be Ganesh!?!

hehe cute. Hinduism has numerous Gods. Ganesh the elephant God is the destroyer of obstacles. My fav Hindu deity is Kaali...the Goddess of destruction :) try to find out about her.

Yeah, it's so easy to look back at your mistakes and kick yourself for them. But like you said, we can't change what we've done, so what's the point?

Having said that, I think it's important to learn from those same mistakes so we don't make them again. Just don't dwell on them.

Learn from them. Don't hate yourself for making them.

Keshi said...

AB heyy!

**Just don't dwell on them

thats just it! tnxxx mate :)

What if, what if.........how many times have we all wondered that about our past!!! and our future.
I keeping thinking 'what if' when I think about my regrets. What if I done this, I wouldn't have done that and I wouldn't be living with these regrets. BUT thru my regrets I have become stronger, more knowlegdable, more humble. I am on this 'path' for a reason. I did things maybe wrong but EVERYTHING I have done so far has led me where I am now.
Try not to think of what if, I try to just take one day at a time, that's all we have...take advantage of now, hopefully learning from the good and bad! of yesterday. I'm hopefully taking these lessons with me to the future....to not have regrets and not have what ifs becuz I am taking advantage of what I have today to be the best I can be and be satisified and content by what I have now....which is pretty much everything that I really need.

BLESSINGS!

keshiwalla,
I read somewhere that LIFE is the opposite of school because you get the test first and you learn the lesson after..I can't improve on that.
There isn't anywhere that you can go without the chance of getting hurt..you can camouflage your feelings and hide in your shell like a turtle..but you still have to poke your head out sometime..and that's when you are vulnerable.
